  1. Sorry, I don't mean to keep being a Debbie Downer with this coaster. But since two people have mentioned this, I just need to say... I obviously know that brakes are necessary to safely slow trains down and prevent collisions! We're of course not in magical RCT land! I just find brakes placed for a significant portion of important drops on coasters to be uncomfortable and "cheap" (i.e. they could have somehow found a way to build the coaster to allow for a proper brake run). Of course finances were a problem, but that's exactly what I don't like about this coaster. It seems cheap. I can't be alone in my dislike for brakes on large drops! Or maybe I can. I understand. Maybe if the ride was a little longer after the top hat the brake run could have started later, but it is what it is.
  2. The perception of speed can be very different than the actual experience. No brakes after the top hat means crash! The number of brake assemblies installed is necessary to quickly and safely stop the train... they have to be there. Yeah landscaping but until you actually ride it you really have no idea what it is truly like. Sometimes landscaping takes awhile to fully fill in so I would give the park a break on that one.
  3. That makes sense. I have a question though, on Superman, it has LSMs, when the ride shuts down with the car on the way back to the station, why then does it have to hit the emergency brakes at the end with speed.. shouldn't the LSMs slow it down to a crawl or is that what is actually happening, it slows to a crawl then just bumps into the e brakes? I have never witnessed this but have read about it on here if I remember right. Another question. On Maverick's lift, if there is a shut down while the train is going up it doesn't it gently roll back down and are those LIMs or LSMs? Sorry, I'm just trying to understand this better. I think I figured it out. If the train has (copper) fins they are LIMs. If the train has permanent magnets they are LSMs. Both incredible technologies and I can't wait to get down there in a few months to ride this, the hang time in the loop sounds sweet!

  5. Between LSMs and LIMs, which one is a failsafe brake in the event of a power outage? On the Premier site I only see mention of LIMs.
  6. Well at least it might have better capacity. A giga version of it would be fun to experience.
  7. (In my best National Geographic voice): And here we see 3 YOLOs in their natural environment. Notice the bright plumage on the female in an attempt to secure a mate. Truly fascinating creatures. That's awesome! So, what do they eat, who are their predators..... I have so many questions! They eat YOLO riders (think about it, have you actually seen any riders get off the ride?). Their only known predators are deadlines. Omfg....... LOL!!!

  9. Ever wonder why the anti rollbacks are on the first hill after the lift? One morning when I was working there in '89 they were doing test runs and the train did not make it over that hill and stopped on the anti rollbacks. Three mechanics then walked up there, gave the train a push, then they all hopped in and rode it back to the station. It was actually kind of amusing. Back then this was not an unusual thing to happen. They tried several things like adding weight to the front car but it still happened sometimes, I was just lucky enough to see it that morning.
  10. If he tried that on Demon it would have been shaken into a thousand pieces!
  11. The Orbit was on the verge of being taken out and now its running well again..... crazy we almost lost it.
  12. The height of the back launch looks the same in both- though it's really hard to judge since it's from two different camera angles.
  13. They shot a crappy video by somebody lazy, it could have and should have been done better, they should have at least TRIED to shoot it properly. It was just an amateurish and lazy mistake.
  14. "Crystal clear full screen HD? Nah, I only want to promote this new ride with a small, grainy image."
  15. I was thinking more along the lines of a WingRider doing a flip through the loop but Giga works too. You know they'll go with the WingRider though. That would look pretty cool! More coasters? It's MM, they will cram coasters in there until they can't possibly fit anymore. A Phantom's Revenge makeover keeping the loops would be like..... Viper wouldn't it except with Vekoma trains, not that that would be less painful. I agree, some of the existing coasters there need attention and it would be absolutely wonderful if they got the attention they deserved (Revolution) but this is MM and the way the park seems to be run, being realistic, those pipe dreams probably will not happen for a long time, unfortunately.
  16. Quite creepy... Reminds me of the dudes I saw in speedo's....not exactly something I planned on seeing in the water park. And the worst part is you can never un see that!
  17. Hmm, another coaster could go in there and have it's track go right through YOLO's loop.
