  1. Hey guys, How reliable has 305 been this season? In particular last weekend? I'm planning on being there Saturday and hope to get a few laps as well as some Bear, Lava & Alien action.
  2. That may be close to it, but I know myself I can do any ship, and a lot of the flats, but the rides where you are spinning, and the ride itself is spinning a different direction cause me problems (like tilt-a-whirls). Although I rode the breakdance at Freestyle and didn't have a problem. I can though sometimes get a touch of motion sickness on the flyers at Carowinds at the end of the cycle.
  3. I so want to ride RFII, and to check out another classic park like Waldameer. Someday soon I will. How far of a drive from Kennywood or Cleveland is it?
  4. The more I see of the UK parks the more I want to get my passport renewed. Great pics dude.
  5. Great report. It's nice to see these once neglected Six Flags parks getting a makeover.
  6. Duh, I just saw your comment. Which pic were you in? Or are you Collin? LOL
  7. Pedro Park has/had a mini himalaya, but it's seen it's better days...like 1985.
  8. Thank you for writing a fair report on Intimidator. I couldn't agree with you more. Certain times it can be a bit more meh, like today the way it was running. But then the cooler mornings it's been running amazing and verging on true ejector air in the back rows. Diamondback is my No. 2, so you can see what I think of it. And oh yeah, we're keeping the flyers.
  9. Whootah!!!! I'm glad to hear that the park may reopen. I was one of the lucky few last year to actually ride Cliff Hanger, which is a fun intense little ride. The g's pulling out of the loop are crazy! I was also on it the day it reopened 7/1/2009 (for 1 day). lol
  10. Sadly Carolina Cobra. But I did get to 50 rides on Intimidator today.
  11. Nice report Gary. I can't recall the last time I saw the inside of Reynolds. I love old stadiums and stuff like that too. Totally random trivia: at the time it was built, Charlotte's Bojangles Coliseum (then Charlotte Coliseum) was the 2nd biggest dome in the World. It's still in use today, with it's old wooden folding stadium seats.
  12. One thing I find interesting is that empty trains seem to run faster on Intimidator, than full trains. Seems like it's usually the other way around on most coasters.
  13. Sounds like the week of 4/24 they were messing with the trims. LOL The past 2 Fridays though, and Sunday I didn't have any issues with the trims, and in fact the 2nd trim didn't even fire at all Sunday.
  14. It's funny to see the old Vortex logo still in use. I need to get to that park soon, well, and Canada in general I guess.
  15. For the record: Intimidator- I've experienced a lot of different rides on this coaster in my 47 rides so far, (I'm not saying that to impress you, but just to give you a reference). I've had back seat rides that verged on ejector air, and were incredible. I've had a few that were blah, and I know for a fact one of the trains runs slower than the others or it sure seems that way. My top 4 steel are all B&M hypers, and basically when I look at all these quality rides, the one thing that pushed Intimidator to my personal No. 1 was the fact that I've gotten so many different feels throughout the trains. But all 4 are excellent coasters and I'd love to ride all 4 every day if I could. Intimidator in my mind is not a cookie cutter B&M, as much as the layout looks that way. Anyway, I feel you're all entitled to your opinion, and if you don't really find it that great, then that's your opinion and I respect it. I just get tired of people putting down a coaster, just because it's not at their home park, or at a certain park on Lake Erie. Cobra- I don't know what the deal is, but the coaster doesn't bother me the way people say it does. I also rode it at Geauga Lake, still no problems. I rode Zoomerang, still no problems. Maybe it's the fact that I've got bigger shoulders/arms than maybe average guys and that's padding me from the blows. Is Cobra something I'd marathon? No, but frankly after my Nighthawk ride this a.m., I'll be riding Cobra again before I ride Nighthawk.
  16. 10 rides this morning and my first 6 I didn't even have to exit the station. First two the train was empty and I had the back half of the train to myself, that thing was hauling butt in a serious way! Back is definitely the best place on Intimidator.
  17. Makes me want to go to my local Lego store at Concord Mills.
  18. We went to St. Augustine's Ripley's back in ohhh 1986 I think? Maybe later 80s, but it was somewhere in that timeframe. I'm so glad it's still there. I remember the 2 story balcony room didn't have that Ferris wheel, it actually had like the world's tallest and shortest men down there and it was creepy looking at them from above for some reason.
  19. Love the pics! I still have yet to ride a Condor, since there isn't a park in the Southeast (that I know of) that has one. You European's and your boat jumping.
  20. Thanks for the update, I had no idea they were adding that coaster from Celebration City. I may actually have to make it down to Vekomaland some day soon. I knew Herschend would do a great job, and looks like they are.
  21. ^ That's awesome (both things). If it wasn't for those two pot holes, I would've ranked it in my top 10 last year when I finally got to ride it. Insane air on that beast. Let us know how the interview goes, I worked out there on ride photo last year and depending on how things go this fall, I may work SCarowinds again on ride photo if I can get it. Honestly it was a blast of a job, you get 99% of the people are happy and laughing at their pic, they're not cursing at you (until you tell them about the $4 Coke's). Anyway, it was my first time working at the park, and I've lived in Charlotte all my life. I'd do it again.
  22. What a nice little family park! I'm amazed at the theming that goes into these places, where a park that size in the States would never spend that much money on theming. The park also has a RCT feel to it, but in a good way!
  23. Great pic, I had no idea Jackson was supposed to be from Union County. Union is the county just east of Charlotte (Mecklenburg County). Funny they argue over Jackson, because NC/SC argues over Polk too. Polk's supposed boyhood property is just about 7 miles from Carowinds. I've been a Charlottean all my life, and only visited it like 10 years ago. http://www.nchistoricsites.org/polk/POLK.HTM I really liked Raleigh's downtown being without traffic, and just a nice pedestrian street for the most part. Are they saying that's the tallest in NC? FAIL. It's the Bank of America Corp. Center in Charlotte. Which I've eaten lunch on the 58th level of twice. Go me! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_by_U.S._state It's the sweeper bot from Wall-E! It IS the end of the world! Great pics by the way, yet again.
  24. At least on the Carowinds one, I'd say it is less scary than Monster Mansion is. If she can handle that, I'd say she'll be ok. There is one newer "scarier" room in Boo Hill, but still I think it's not as scary as MM.
