What is the best floorless?
fraroc replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only ridden Hydra and Dominator at KD. Dominatior even though it only has 5 inversions is a great ride and I liked it much better than Hydra. Hydra is good, don't get me wrong but Dominator is so much better. -

Why not tear down Shockwave first? It is older, it has a reputation to be rough as well, and TOGO parts must be harder to come by being that unlike in the case of Arrow having Vekoma, Chance Morgan, and S&S there isn't really an old business partner or successor of their technology. Actually, Shockwave is not NEARLY as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was actually more tolerable than Stinger at Dorney. I don't know whether they did some work on it or I'm just desensitized because I like SLCs and Boomerangs. -
Top / Best Amusement Park (s)
fraroc replied to bodombeast's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My Top Five Amusement Parks 5.Adventureland in Farmingdale, NY: Even though this is just a kiddie park, this place holds tons of memories for me. The SDC Hurricane is awesome and very Schwarzkopf-esque. Other than a Wave Swinger, a Huss Standard-Issue Frisbee, a pirate ship, and a log flume, this park really dosen't have much to offer for the thrill seeker. It used to have a Mondial Top Scan, but they got rid of it after an accident occured when a restraint opened during the ride an a woman was violently slammed to the ground to her death. 4. Dorney Park: Dorney was the place where I mainly got over my fear of coasters. As much as I love Dorney. I wish that Dorney could go back to before they got rid of Lazer. Even though Hydra and Talon are two great B&Ms, their trains are so disgusting, there is literally mildew growing on Hydra's trains (puking face) Anyway, Stinger is Ok, It would definetly benifit the park if they would work out the kinks on that ride because there is so much wrong with it. 3. Hersheypark: Hersheypark is a pretty awesome place with a good variety of coasters. We have 3 world class woodies, Lightning Racer being my favorite out of all of them. A classic Schwarzkopf looper, a loud-as-hell B&M Invert. And 3 awesome Intamin coasters. Stormrunner being the best out of all of them (Skyrush was busted when I went) My only complaint is that the place can get rather crowded, even on days when it's cold. But those ride-ops really hustled and kept the waits under an hour. 2. Cedar Point: This place rocks my socks. An awesome collection of coasters, basically taking one of each type. Its also a very athsetically appealing park in my opinion as it seems very serene by the lake. This park loses the postition to number one basically because of its absolutley ridiculous size restrictions, you can actually be too tall to go on a coaster! Also this place seems much more restrictive to weight than other Cedar Fair parks and if you are over 40 inches in the belly you can forget about Millenium Force or TTD. Total BS. 1. Kings Dominion: This place is one of the most beautiful and most thrilling places I have ever been to. It has very good collection of roller coasters with probably two of the best ones in the entire nation. Volcano-The Blast Coaster and Intimidator 305. Anaconda is a good ride, a bit rough but good. Shockwave was not nearly as bad as I thought and was actually very good. Flight of Fear was pure awesome and Backlot Stunt Coaster was a really cute ride, almost like a Mini-Maverick! Lines are like Dorney's on the day I went, almost non existent with Volcano being the exception. My only complaint about that place was that people there can come off as a little rude. -

This whole talk about Boomerang has got the gears workin' in my head. What if theoretically, Vekoma made a Boomerang that was capable of running two trains a la Mr.Freeze or Storm Runner/Kingda Ka? Like if one train moved to the center where the Boomerang's circuit would do it's thing while the other train waits, and then when thats done, the other train moves to the center and does its thing. Do you suppose that would be possible? -

Thanks! Thanks a lot! June, 1973 Hello again! Welcome to Elmwood Lake Park's second season! We predict that this will be another succsessful season of fun and excitement! Park attendance is very good so far! The people of Lynchburg and the rest of Tennessee seem to like this place a lot! This ride is new for '73, The Wave Swinger will give this park another thrill! And also new for 1973, the Cafe Americana! Here you can get a bite to eat easily! Menu choices consist of Cheesburgers, Hot Dogs, Pizza, and French Fries! Bathrooms are also located here too. I've caught wind that something big is going to come to the park in this location for 1974! I don't know much of the details but.... Mine Train Coaster may have some competition next year! Creator Comments: I hope that you guys like what I did with the cafe, I'm total crap at custom buildings so it was really hard for me to make it look right. -

Since when are Wildcat, Vortex, or Anaconda considered 'classics'?!?! You see all of these B&M/Intamin coasters with multiple inversions and all of these new hi-tech looping coasters? Well, If it wasn't for coasters like the Arrow megaloopers, they would never exist. Love em or hate em, they played a big part in the coaster renaissance of the 70s, 80s and 90s. (and that I don't really mind getting beat up a little on coasters. I like it rough, does that make me weird?) -

To be honest, Ron Toomer and Anton Schwarzkopf must be spinning in their graves to see what Matt Ouimet did to Wildcat and mabye Anaconda and Vortex. Classics can never be replaced, no matter how rough and painful. -

You guys do know that Knightmare is a Zierier "Schwarzkopf" modelcoaster. It's actually not an actual Schwarzkopf according to RCDB. I'll be sad if it's not relocated though...Its listed as "defunct" so this could mean it was scrapped already -

Iron Dragon is one of the last of it's kind, so I hope not. Corkscrew is a classic and a good no-frills looping coaster. -

Techically not defunct, just someplace in Europe.... Lazer at Dorney Park was one of the best roller coasters I have ever been on. -
And I've seen how some of those Jet Coasters run, they must valley more than Stinger at Dorney Park.

I already predicted this but something told me that either Shockwave or Anaconda were on borrowed time. I liked Anaconda when I went on it this summer. The Loop/Immelmann combo was very intense but I didn't like those banked turns before the corkscrews because they caused my neck to whack against the harness (sitting in the front seat prevents this btw) And the corkscrews surprisingly had some pops of airtime. While I have nothing against Intamin, B&M, Mauer-Sohne, MACK or Gerstlauer. It just breaks my heart to see that one day Arrows and Schwarzkopfs will become extinct -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
fraroc replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some kid in my class who goes to SFGADV almost all the time during the summer, for fright fest and anything inbetween told me the reason why Kingda Ka breaks down all the time is because it's cursed. And he proceeds to tell me that in 2002, the coaster that El Toro replaced that's not there anymore (Viper in case you didn't guess) flew off the tracks, crashed and killed everybody on board so the ghosts of the riders cursed Kingda Ka so that it breaks down all the time XD Someone's been watching too much Poltergeist and Final Destination 3. -

April, 1972 ELMWOOD LAKE PARK OPENS TODAY!!! This is the moment that me, TAC (Tennessee Amusment Corps) and the people of Lynchburg have been waiting for, a brand new amusement park to open! We hope that Elmwood Lake Park will bring in tons of revenue and one day this tiny park will become one of the biggest and best fun parks in the entire U.S OF A!!!! And as I promised, I took several pictures of the park! Not many people showed up around 9:30 when the park opened, but by 11 the flood gates opened and everyone wanted to spend the day there! A few guests were brave enough to get over their fear of heights and to ride the Parachute Drop! And a few also had strong stomachs and rode Twist and Shout! But however, the most popular ride of the day was our only roller coaster (DEFINETLY subject to change) the Mine Train Coaster! Every single train was a full house, not one empty seat! Mine Train Coaster was popular for several reasons, children that are too small for rides like Parachute Drop or Twist and Shout can ride this, Mine Train Coaster also has several shallow drops and turns, which is nothing too extreme. But thrill seekers are a big fan of the surprise drop into the underground, the hill itself is taller than the first hill, which is why it was retrofitted with a pneumatic system. The drop brings the train to it's top speed of 42mph. So far, it seems like the people of Lynchburg love Elmwood Lake Park despite its small size. That will change in the future, I'll promise you that! -

Hey guys. Just want to tell you what's going on. As you guys may already know. L.I took a big hit from Hurricane Sandy. Me and my family are ok, but are currently without our electricity. We're borrowing some power from our neighbor, but it's not enough to power an entire PC system like mine and I'm currently writing this on my laptop. LIPA has not done anything yet in our town and we have no idea when power will come back. Some people are saying that certain parts of the island won't get power back until Thanksgiving I don't know if that applies to our family or not, but only time will tell. -

Thanks for your advice. I plan to have at least two major roller coasters in the park that I will incorperate terrain with. And I also colored the grass darker and it does give it a more woodsy feel to it March, 1972 Hello again! We are excited because Elmwood Lake Park is to open to the public for the very first time in just two months! We have added some more attractions to the park as well. Come take a look! This Merry-Go-Round was built and designed by the Intamin AG company based in Switzerland. They did one helluva job building it and painting it! We hope this ride is a big hit with the families. This ride is called the Whirler it was designed by a Mr. Anton Schwarzkopf and the ride itself looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to ride! We'll definetly try to contact Anton's company again in the not-so distant future! I will DEFINETLY take a ton of pictures opening day! (Creator Comments: My original plans were to have the Carrousel covered up with Custom Scenery but when I did it, it looked like a monstrosity, it looked SO bad its not funny. So I decided to uncover it. Thats why this will be a Semi-NCS project like Kings Paradise. I will definetly use CFR and CTR and some SteelWorx, but I feel like can't build buildings ) -

Thanks so much for all the comments! I too believe that this will not only be better but more fun to make than Kings Paradise. Kings Paradise was the product of a long trip to Kings Dominion and my creative juices were flowing like crazy, I wanted to make sort of a Kings Dominion/Dorney Park/Cedar Point/Blackpool Pleasure Beach hybrid but I felt like I didn't contribute enough of my own ideas. Elmwood Lake Park gives me a chance to start fresh! November,1971 Well, It's been four months, The park is really coming along great! Hopefully by next May, Elmwood Lake Park will be slated to open to the public, and I'm sure the public will LOVE it! We're giving Mine Train Coaster a test run to check for saftey, so far the ride runs fine! I have a gut feeling this will be a very popular ride for years to come! It's both thrilling and family friendly! Some non-coaster rides were built at the park, such as Parachutes which is the tallest ride in the park and an Eyerly Roll-O-Plane named "Twist And Shout!" And what is a proper theme park without a Ferris Wheel? Here is the entire park perimiter, I know it looks small and dinky, but more rides will be put into place before the grand opening! -
Hello TPR! I'ts time that I post the first update of my brand new park! Unfortunatly, I regret to inform you that I am no longer going to update Kings Paradise. I'm stopping it at 2010. I know some of you liked it, but I wasn't having any fun updating it anymore. So now, I'm starting with a clean slate and building another RCT3 park! I hope you like it! August, 1970 Date: April 7th, 1970 Subject: NEW THEME PARK PROPOSAL To: Tennessee Amusment Corps. From: Lynchburg City Hall To whom it may concern. We are delighted to inform the Tennessee Amusment Corps. that your request for a brand new fun park in the state of Tennessee has been accepted and we were sucsessfully able to procure 182 acres of land here in Lynchburg. We had attached a mercator projection of the area. We hope that you will be able to make Lynchburg,Tennessee more than just Jack Daniels whisky. We hope that you will make this place into a paradise for families and adrenaline junkies! That letter was sent to me months ago. And now...the first phase of Elmwood Lake Park is slated to be completed next year! Oh God, where are my manners? I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Bill Walsh and I work in the amusement park business. It may not seem like much in terms of civic development, but many young people intrested in roller coasters and thrill rides would kill for a job like mine. I'm most likely going to be elected as general manager for this place when it opens. I really hope so! I have some pictures of what the place looks like! It's so serene and peaceful...it's almost a shame that it will soon be replaced with roller coasters and screaming people... The Arrow Development company of Clearfield, Utah has been hard at work building a Mine-Train themed roller coaster. The ride has earned the rather cliche' moniker of "Mine Train Coaster" but I have no doubt in my mind that Mine Train Coaster will be very popular with families and fun seekers!

Iron Dragon. I don't care if you stone me, Iron Dragon is one of the last of its kind, a great starter non/kiddie coaster for kids, a perfect mellow, chillout coaster after riding coasters like Millenium Force, Maverick, Mantis, TTD.....And I hope CP never gets rid of it. Corkscrew is a classic no-frills looping coaster. Once again, a great starter coaster and a timeless classic.

Lines at Hershey aren't as bad as what they can be at Cedar Point. If you bring your iPod or something to do while your waiting, it won't be that bad. I feel that if I immerse myself in my favorite songs, it makes an hour feel like 15 minutes. Just make sure that once you reach the gates, put it away so the ride ops don't give you any issues. Dorney (and Kings Dominion) usually has extordinarly short lines and on busy days the most you're waiting is about 20 minutes. If you can, go to both!
