  1. So excited that they're leaving California and offering more East Coast and Europe opportunities! Some of the shore excursions that they offered on the Baltic Cruises are just incredible!
  2. The only reason I'd give any credence to the Wonder Woman rumor is that it is a bunch of women in charge of the park right now, they may want to try and do some sort of girl power crap.
  3. Remember that the poll also takes into account whether or not you rode the coaster this year that you're voting for. I don't think a lot of the voters rode Balder this year, so that hurts it. I'm sure you'll see it go back up when a group trip takes a decent amount of people there to ride it.
  4. ^That's a very good point. I know from past situations they have offered tiered levels of compensation based on your room. Inside/Outside got the lowest, Balcony got a bit more, then Suites got the most.
  5. From Cruise Critic: To me that reads as $14k total. I'm really not sure how I feel, I can't decide if that's a good deal or bad deal. I don't think any of us can judge since we weren't on board. I think it seems reasonable, but if someone claims they had expensive jewelry in their cabin safe or something then maybe not?
  6. ^They haven't decided yet. The insurance and salvage companies plan to do full inspections to decide what to do next. Pumping the fuel/oil out was a bigger concern as that could impact the environment. Oh, and Costa released compensation. $14,500 per person who was on the ship. Thoughts? Too little? Too much? Note, those who were injured or missing/dead will have different payouts.
  7. Like I said, I'm very happy with the results and feel they're quite 'fair'. Obviously there are some anomalies, but there always will be with group trips from different clubs, etc. Since people are sharing their stats, I've been on 95 out of the top 100 woodies. I've been on all of the top 26. Of the ranked coasters there are only nine I'm missing. I'm not planning on hitting any of those nine this year. I am planning on hitting one or two of the coasters that don't have enough riders to rank yet. ^I believe the inflation is due somewhat to the new GCI Syndrome, but moreso I believe there was an ECC trip to that park this summer. We rode it as part of the TPR Oktoberfest Trip in 2010 and it was fine, but the best GCI, please!!!!
  8. Morgan, you don't normally watch the 'Running of the Drunks'?!!? That's the best part of every port day! Every cruise you'll see someone left behind, usually drunk people or people that forgot to adjust their watches for a time change and very rarely people that had independent tours or a problem of some sort. Trust me, 95% of the time it's drunk people! Depending on the port different things happen. On ports where a harbor pilot takes the ship out, you can actually pay off some locals to bring you to the ship on a smaller boat once it's away from the dock for when a boat picks up the local pilot once the big ship is out of the harbor. Even if you call the ship and tell them you're going to be late, they don't wait most of the time. They are on very strict schedules as well as tidal issues, etc. There's a great story from a Mediterranean cruise where a ship-sponsored shore excursion was running so behind that the ship couldn't even wait for them (the ship would have gotten stuck in low tide), so they had to get all of the shore excursion guests to the next port. Trouble was, some of them had left their children on the ship in the kids club! It was a very nice story with a good ending, but still freaks some parents out. We run our TPR Trips the same way as the cruise lines. Super strict on time departures. They are important for more reasons than you can even think of.
  9. ^You would fly direct to the starting point of the trip. We always have American's, Europeans, Australians, Canadians, etc. and they fly to a meeting point.
  10. New Braunfels. I don't think anyone would recommend Galveston over the original.
  11. I say forget about the Disney Around the World trip that we've been talking about for years...Let's do an Intamin Woodie Around the World trip!!!
  12. Go El Toro!!!!! (The Intamin one) What the hell is the German one doing in the top 10?!?!?! I'm assuming the ECC Trip to Germany had something to do with that? It's a decent small GCI, but it doesn't belong in the top 10.
  13. ^If you read the description or watch the trailer you'd know...The evil oil companies are drilling off Florida and tap into a pool of magma which then turns into a giant volcano and problems for Miami!
  14. Hey guys! Just when you thought the only natural disaster to hit Florida was the republican primaries and hurricanes...here comes a VOLCANO!!! You should all know the drill by now. Join us in the TPR Chat Room this Saturday night as we watch the movie together, laugh, make fun, and enjoy the 'quality' that is a SyFy Saturday Original Movie! Here's the link to all the information you need about this quality movie: http://www.syfy.com/movies/view/170 It also has Rachel Hunter in it for you old guys! Hope to see you all there! 6pm PST / 9pm EST Link to the TPR Chat Room: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/chat/index.php
  15. That early in the season, I would prepare for quite a few rides to still be closed. Hopefully one of our British members can chime in, but we've gone in Feb/March before and lots of stuff is usually down.
  16. You get thrown around in the seat and restraint a lot. For example, sometimes on the final flip and twist into the brake run my leg gets thrown so hard that it ends up in the area for my other leg!
  17. ^You may want to wait till we announce some Summer TPR Events!
  18. Something about the snow sculptures actually impresses me more than the ice. I guess you think of ice being stronger and easy to carve into bricks and stuff, but seeing that stuff out of snow looks awesome! As for the Golden Horse suspended mouse...that concerns me!
  19. ^I think you're 'over' estimating the General Public. They will love and eat this up! Especially Thorpe Park's clientel. If there were 'problems' with the coaster it will lead to longer lines! Wasn't there a Dave Barry article that said something about how you could put up a sign in front of a ride that said something to the effect of 'This ride is invariably fatal' and the teenagers would line up for days!?!
  20. ^Oh totally, this would NEVER work in the US, and I guess we're seeing that it may not work in Europe in the future either. Kind of sad what our society has become...oh well, we've got the 2012 apocalypse to look forward to at the end of the year!
  21. ^^We'd like the event to be smaller than last years 'combined' day that SFMM wanted us to do. Another reason we chose to have a TPR Exclusive day this year!
  22. This thread makes me feel better about our country. I've seen Brits, Aussies, and Canadians be even DUMBER than Americans, and that's saying a lot! Good Job Thorpe Park! And this isn't going to backfire, if anything it will make people want to go on it more so they can tell their friends: "OMG i went on teh coaster that chops peoples legs off and hit a support, omfg!!!!!"
