  1. I would just say to go in the order of the rides you want to do the most. The reason being, this is a park that closes a lot of rides in even a very light rain. When I was there last Thursday, we tried just going in a circle but a very short period of rain closed things for hours, so there were rides we wanted to get on that we couldn't. Most of the flats, Titan and Pandemonium will close in the rain and lighting will close anything that doesn't stay on the ground. It takes a very long time for rides to reopen as well, if they ever do.
  2. ^ I can't remember the number of laps we ended up getting, but for the most part it was pretty much constant riding the whole time they were filming, which was about two hours. They reserved one row for the people brought in for rider cam for about half the time, and then it was opened up for everyone. I know they were also at the park the day before, but I think that was just to talk to management and get off ride footage of the parks coasters.
  3. You can see myself and Jeremie (Egypt2112) in the background a few times during the X Flight segment. May not be much, but it's still pretty cool to see ourselves in the show.
  4. Looks cool, can't wait to see the final result. Hopefully the park gets some flats after this, it kinda looks like the Magic Mountain of Tennessee! (Although if that's what you're going for, then keep doing what your doing! )
  5. Not sure what's going on, but it seems the park is having some troubles with flat rides this year. Orbit, River Rocker and Condor are all currently closed. Orbits been closed for a while, and Condor has been having trouble all season. River Rocker is being held at an angle so I'm guessing the problem is under the boat, maybe with one of the tires that propels it. Batman has it's first forward train in the station, so that should open up again soon.
  6. ^^ If this is your first time going and you only have one day, get a flash pass. The first week of August tends to be really busy.
  7. ^ I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not, but I really hope you're not because three water slides in four years are not big additions. I doubt that they "didn't care" about the park, they probably just didn't have the money. 2004 and 2005 is when the problems with debt reached it's peak and they started selling and closing parks. And the money they did have went more towards the big parks that brought in a lot of money. The fact that they didn't add much after 2004 probably means that they park didn't bring in a ton of money for the chain, because the breadwinners of the chain still saw healthy expansion during the years of debt problems.
  8. After a 20 month leave of absence, East River Crawler finally reopened tonight. From Twitter.com/SFGreat_America
  9. Sounds like this is nothing out of the ordinary and the fire department was called by someone who didn't know that. Link I didn't realize that the tower didn't run anymore, any particular reason Zamperla didn't get it running again?
  10. The 2012 proposal lists Twisted Twins as being repaired at a cost of 3.5 million with track repairs, new trains and station repairs. Say what??? They were talking about the importance of adding signature rides and how Dollywood's new ride increased attendance by 20%. Not sure how they confused Wild Eagle with a wood coaster though.
  11. ^ Depends what you mean by everything. If you only mean coasters, you could probably get most of them done in nine hours. But if you want to ride the flats as well and just have more to enjoy the park without being rushed I'd at least get the lowest level flash pass.
  12. ^ Where did you sit when you rode it? I've heard from a few people that sitting in the front row, as in the first row to leave the station, has ridiculous airtime.
  13. SFM posted on Facebook that either Batman, Superman, Boomerang, Medusa, or the tea cups will close after this season. Link I would guess either Boomerang or the tea cups. There was also a post on Screamscape awhile back about a RMC make over for Medusa, so that could be a possibility as well.
  14. I've definitely had rides on Bull with a lot of rattle, but my last ride on Sunday night, back row, yellow train was one of the smoothest and best rides I've had on it. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the trims at this point, it's whether the ride tries to shake me apart that makes or breaks it for me. Great to hear that Viper is still good backwards. I was a little worried that running it backwards would kill its airtime, but it sounds like that's not the case. Can't wait to get down there and try it out.
  15. Not sure why they moved it up from July 8, but Viper is now running with both trains backwards.
  16. I rode Dark Knight three times on Wednesday and it seemed like each ride was different with different effects going off. Seems like whatever sets them off isn't working right, but there were a few that never went off on any ride. You can literally Google the words "Viper Backwards" and it's the first thing that comes up. It's also the subtitle of this thread.
  17. I went to the park today for the IgNight preview, and overall I have to say I was pretty impressed. Some parts where a bit cheesy, but the singing was good and the technology in the show was great. They pulled off some really cool things with the projections and pyrotechnics and it's definitely unlike anything else the park has ever done before.
  18. ^ But a hyper will also costs tens of millions of dollars, while relocating a Boomerang or adding bumper cars will not. Look at Great Adventure, their bumper cars closed a few years ago and then they got a new set for 2012. That being said, I don't see their being the outcry about the lack of bumper cars that Great Adventure had about their lack of flat rides.
  19. Well the article lists a height of 125 feet and according to RCDB the original Thunderbolt was only 86 feet, so that at least points to it not being an exact recreation.
