  1. And here I was thinking the next French death I would hear about would be because they don't build fences around their rides. I guess I forgot to take into account that people have a bit more common sense over there. Sad news. It seems to be a bad week for the Amusement industry. When it rains it pours this year, unfortunately.
  2. You would need a reason to do something that you were hired to do? Isn't the fact that it is your job enough? If you're in it for the money then you're in it for the wrong reason. Time to move on. I have shut a ride down for lesser things than that. I'm not going to take the chance that some little kid, or even someone clowning around (after all, the Guests are there to have fun, not to think) might get injured or even die. Even if the backpack wasn't taken as a security issue, a security guard should have at least taken it to security as a lost article. Hello. It was there for over an hour. If you forgot a bag wouldn't you like it to be in the hands of security instead of some random dishonest guest? That also leaves the possibility that it was stolen from a ride dock while someone was riding and discarded once someone was done taking the items of value. I'm sure the guest would like to know that they did locate their bag, even though their items of value were gone. It absolutely is a policy to do that. And you absolutely would do that if you were working in a theme park. If you have a problem with touching trash that's fine, but you would be expected to figure out a way to not pass up trash. The reader above is correct..."Don't pass it up, pick it up." It's time to drop the excuses. Put up or shut up. There is always someone who is willing to do the job. It's just a matter of hiring, training, and enforcing. Anyhow. I debated with myself if I even wanted to read this article because they usually just get me down. I think the author made some very valid points.
  3. Wow those Titan lights sure are cool! I wonder who did that!!
  4. Haha..we have an Oscar on our Boomerang at SFOT too..but he's a spider..or bug...it's kind of unclear heh. Edit - Picture This was before the refurb he got this year, but you get the idea.
  5. Green Lantern, as seen in Justice League Unlimited, is in fact black. And since that is the current Justice League, that is the one we use. Looks like you had a great time! Very nice PTR. Definitely need to make it out there sometime.
  6. Would you let someone ride if they were .25" too short? I hope not. While it sucks, they're just doing what they are supposed to be doing. Sorry about the experience though....
  7. Now I miss DLP! I could have spent days in that park..it was greatness. I need some Jungle Cruise, though. That threw me off. And Thunder Mountain RR was closed..guess I'll just have to go back! It won't take much to get me back to Europe, I'd move tomorrow if I could afford it.
  8. I am hooked on Wingate after staying there. It's definately a notch above.
  9. Actually it's a Telecombat (see Dumbo) which is nothing like a spider lol.
  10. And it starts: Coming to SFOT in 2007. www.sixflags.com/parks/overtexas/ParkPress/SBO2007.html
  11. Doesn't surprise me...I live in Texas. I'm surprised we don't have Deep Fried Belt Buckles yet. And Elissa, I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who noticed how much better Kit Kat bars were when I was in London.
  12. If you think something on a ride could trigger a seizure, don't ride it... It does happen from time to time.
  13. As if everyone else didn't beat this dead horse enough, you had to dig it up and beat it a little more saying the exact thing that everyone else has. Nice. Xander "Can't we just move on and have a little fun riding coasters for once" Lee
  14. Hmm we did free high fives this year at Runaway Mountain at SFOT...Does that count?
  15. Kevin -- The Benefits are okay, unless you are spekaing of REAL benefits, and then yeah..hah! You get used to the heat really fast when you have no choice, actually. It was my first job and I'm still there..so.. You only have to be 16 to be in Ride Operations, but remember not everyone gets their first choice. And still then, you will be sweeping pathways and emptying trash cans (since it's the crew's responsibility) at your ride. Anyhow It's an experience. You'll either like it or you'll hate it, but either way at least you would be another person in the park that KNOWS the weak points of the company and could help to boost them up. Good luck! Oh, by the way..SFKK is having a job fair Feb 10 & 11. Fill out the application at http://www.sixflagsjobs.com and I'm sure it'll give you more information.
  16. Spring 2003 - Current, Ride Operations at Six Flags Over Texas. Way too many rides to list
  17. Well, according to your stats you ARE 21. I don't think that was the target age group for wiggles world
  18. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070112/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_china_ferriswheel Here we go...Vegas all over again!
  19. Though, the original colors were a poor choice of colors too. It never had that impact on the skyline that it should have.
  20. Well you know what they say, Furiousity killed the 12 year old
  21. Mr. Zero (The original Mr. Freeze) wears red and yellow. The colors of fire? Who says that the ride has to correspond with the colors the villain wears?
  22. It's actually Fuchsia, but I'll agree that it does look pretty Red and Blue. It still looks great though! Quite a change.
