  1. Starting January 6 at one of the small parks in the Los Angeles area. Possibly Scandia? Who knows which coaster I'll ride first.
  2. I rode it once in the 3rd row..........and I hated it. Had lots of shimmying and shaking, was boring, and pretty much the only part I enjoyed was the non-inverting loop. The overbanked turn over the queue is too slow so you basically get dumped to your right as you go through the turn. There weren't any moments of airtime (I'm nowhere near an airtime junkie like so many on TPR are, but I DO enjoy at least SOME airtime), and most of the ride was forceless. The helix right towards the end wasn't bad, but it was hard to concentrate with the rock-hard lapbar stapling me into my seat. And then add to the fact that we had to wait an hour because the ride went down for a good amount of time while we were waiting, and then I got stuck in the station for 10 minutes after my ride, and it just completely ruined any positive thoughts I had left about the ride. Seriously, I was in the unload position in the station, and they had no way to unload us when the ride went down. No manual release or anything. That seems to be a SERIOUS safety hazard if something were to go terribly wrong and they couldn't let guests out if the ride shut down. Maybe they just didn't see the need to let us out since it wasn't an emergency, but I thought it was really crappy that a train full of people who should have been able to get off the ride, couldn't. Rant over.
  3. So let me get this straight. A lot of you would take two great coasters, one at each park in New England, over how many great coasters combined at the two Virginia parks? At least 5 or 6, and then with I305 going in next year at KD you can just add another one. Dominator, Volcano, I305, Griffon, Alpengeist, and Apollo's Chariot. You could even add in Rebel Yell and Loch Ness Monster for some nostalgic greatness. Add that to the fact that BGW is, in my opinion, far and away the best park on the planet. KD isn't too shabby, either, probably tied with KI as the best of the former Paramount parks.
  4. I could get torched for this, but I wouldn't post it if it wasn't reliable. It seems as if Demon Drop is not actually headed to Knott's. Apparently its new home could be Allentown......
  5. Virginia parks, and it's not even remotely close.
  6. 2 questions: 1. Why are you yelling? 2. Did you REALLY just refer to this coaster as "Timmy"?!?!?!
  7. Best ending: Apollo's Chariot - the ravine drop, nuff said Montu - dive into the trench, hidden corkscrew, half helix into the brakes Raptor Lightning Racer - side by side, over and under racing to the finish line Phantom's Revenge - double hop into the brakes Journey to Atlantis (Orlando) - nice little "surprise" ending with the coaster track and 2nd splashdown Boss - double helix of death! I don't think I have anything different to add for worst endings. Great Bear and Adventure Express are the worst offenders by far.
  8. Zenechai, I think you've absolutely nailed every single one of mine on the head. People jumping queue rails probably piss me off more than anything else though. I REFUSE to jump or go through rails as a guest. People sprinting up to a ride drive me up a wall, as well. THE RIDE WILL NOT FALL DOWN AND EXPLODE IN A FIRE BALL IF YOU AREN'T ON THE VERY NEXT POSSIBLE RIDE, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPRINT AND ALMOST FALL ONTO THE TRACK AND GET RUN OVER BY A 5 TON TRAIN TO DO SO.
  9. For any enthusiast, regardless of the level of enthusiasm, Holiday World is about as much of a "must go" park as you'll find anywhere. It's a hike from Pittsburgh, but I assure you it would be well worth it.
  10. So a drift coaster is like a suspended coaster without the suspension, and a spinning coaster without the full spin. Got it.
  11. Should I say it or will I get beat up for saying it? Oh well, i'll go for it. That's what she said! I was going to say it, but decided not to at the last second. Well done.
  12. But that IS happening!! Rampage lovers of the world rejoice!!!!! I would put Maverick's heartline roll back in. Don't know if anyone has said this already, I didn't read the thread. But who cares if it would kill me, I just wanted to ride it ONCE with the heartline roll in.
  13. To be fair, there probably is some sort of DSM-IV disorder associated with people who have traveled to Santa Claus, Gothenburg, and Jackson just to ride roller coasters. I think most of us have it.
  14. Yeah but the so-called "hype" was based purely on fanboys and girls' ridiculous expectations for what CP should be adding as new attractions every year. It wasn't based on any kind of logic. That was still hype though. And yes we CP fanboys do have very high expectations. Maybe even higher than you SoCal people. You didn't look at my location, did you? I worked at CP for two years.
  15. Yeah I think how they worded it was "7 drops, one for every championship Dale Earnhardt won."

  17. I've posted in this thread a few times but neglected to give my top/bottom picks. 1. Voyage 2. El Toro 3. Evel Knieval 4. Prowler 5. Thunderhead 6. Lightning Racer (both) 7. Ravine Flyer II 8. Boss 9. Rampage 10. Kentucky Rumbler Bottom (with #1 being the worst) 1. Rattler 2. Fairly Odd Coaster (KI) 3. Mean Streak 4. Son of Beast 5. Texas Giant 6. Comet (Waldameer) 7. Thunder Run 8. Rolling Thunder 9. Timber Wolf 10. Hurler (KD)
  18. Well there are different versions of the THBS, like the one at SFFT, SFOT, and SFStL are all the same. The one in SFDK has its own layout and same with Pandemonium. The Spinning Dragons at WoF also has the same layout as the Tony Hawks from SFFT, SFoT, and SFStL.
  19. Anyone ridden Prowler this year and gotten the kid who makes all the rhymes about Prowler (arms down, head back, the big black cat is about to attack), and then as the train is leaving he says "enjoy your ride on Prowler, chomp, chomp, RAWWRRR!!!" Hysterical.
  20. Apollo's Chariot will probably always be my favorite B&M hyper (I've ridden that, Diamondback, Nitro, and Goliath). Sadly enough, I haven't ridden any of those Intamins. Looking to remedy that problem next year, though.
  21. Right now, tentatively, we'll be in L.A. from January 5-10. SFMM will be the 9th.
  22. I'm glad to see SFMM reporting that none of the rehabs will be going into the first week of January, and that Deja Vu should be finished by December 27 (coincidentally my birthday). I'll be there the 2nd weekend of January and really hope to get every credit possible.
