I think the biggest issue is the height (or lack thereof) of the walls along the bottom stretch of the track. I mean it took nothing for him to get launched over that wall. Seems like another 2 feet might have kept him on the ice. He would have been in some serious pain, but that's obviously better than dead.

What did you learn today?

I learned that it's not possible to survive being thrown into a steel I-beam at 90 mph. -
I rode Drachen Fire in 1994 (before the re-profile) when I was 9 and I remember LOVING it. I was incredibly upset when they removed it, but in retrospect, it was probably the right thing to do with how unbelievably rough it was. However when I was 9, it didn't seem that rough, just banged my ears a little bit during the helix at the end. I always get very nostalgic whenever anyone mentions that ride. RIP Drachen Fire, we hardly knew ye.

I'll just take a stab at this. I believe a portable would no longer be considered portable once it had concrete footers and was anchored to the ground (although I honestly have no idea if Wildcat is anchored despite working at CP for 2 years). I would think that being anchored into the ground instead of just being one big unfolded mass of metal sitting on the ground would make it not portable anymore. Laser at Dorney was the textbook definition of portable, the entire ride sat on stacks of wood!

Today I learned that after snow fell in the Florida panhandle, today was the first time in recorded American history that snow has been on the ground in all 50 states at the same time. Crazy! -

Cancel your credit cards. What's the best solution for an annoying, yipping, little dog? -
^BBW is always going to be speculation, but isn't Eagle Fortress also being removed for service reasons? And I think we can all agree that they have the reputation of being high maintenance rides, almost to the point where it's not worth it to keep them. Think of it this way. You have a 20 year old car. It runs well, gets you where you need to go, but is always in need of constant repair. Over time, you spend thousands in upkeep just so you can keep getting from point A to point B. Over time, with the money you've spent repairing your 20 year old car, you could have put a healthy down payment on a 2010 Charger. At least that's how I see it.

top 10 coasters poll

^That's because they're known world-wide for their coasters. I don't think Cedar Point controls which TV shows feature it. If you want whichever park you're a fan boy of to be featured more, maybe they should get some better coasters. -

Because George Lucas said explosions can happen in a vacuum. And you can hear them, too. Why do you drive on a parkway but park on a driveway? -
The only category I really care about is Christoph Waltz winning the Supporting Actor Oscar. Save for Heath Ledger's Joker, Waltz was the absolute best on-screen villain in years.

How did you get your screen name?

Well I worked at Skycoasters for 3 years and think they're the greatest thrill rides ever. And my name is Steve. Groundbreaking creativity on my part there.
