  1. ^It would have to be some sort of electronic fail safe, just like you can't set of nuke's without two keys, the net would need to be in proper position to set off a sensor that would then allow whatever to happen. I'm not familiar with the procedures of the ride, but I would think to make this idiot proof, you should have the net in proper position even before the "rider" is allowed up the elevator. Pretty much you need to eliminate the possibility of human error.
  2. I can hardly wait til all the kids go back to school and the park is empty again.
  3. Awesome, another set of trips updates. I love looking at these things.
  4. I think the thing missing here is that I'm pretty sure that if they make changes to the ride that it has to approved by the state. I can't see the state approving a launch past the top of the tower, regardless of the braking system used. If it's gonna go backwards, I can't see them not requiring OTSR's. As far as saying that the ride should have been this or should have been that when it opened, thats like saying that the Model T should have had disk brakes and power steering. When Superman opened it was pretty innovative. In the end, a full speed launch and a paint job would be fine with me.
  5. Giant Dipper at Belmont Park, no it wasn't as good as Santa Cruz, but i got some rides in while my kids played on the beach with mommy. It has some good elements, the first drop is good, but overall it's pretty tame. Still i rode it 4 times.
  6. I'm thinking the right lawyer could get the D.A.'s attention with the use of the media, and if that's the case and it's in the public eye, there are alot of lawyers who want to be in front of the camera. Hope somebody helps this family out.
  7. Wasn't there supposed to have been some kinda dinosaur land built somewhere in San Diego too at some point. I think, and I might be mistaken, that there might still be a dinosaur or two still around. I used to be into roadside attractions and I remember reading about a dinosaur, but that was long time ago.
  8. Has he done Supreme Scream, I would hit Xcelerator as early as possible, during the week the line hasn't been too bad, but still it's the end of summer and single train operation sucks.
  9. I was glad to see them refurbish the peek-in's and that catawampas is still there. At this point i think if they keep the Ghost Town portion and and what historic buildings are left, I think I will be happy with the whole nostalgia part of Knott's. Really It sucks when the new generation of trill seekers comes to Knott's and say it sucks because they want more coasters and don't even notice the cool stuff that's still there. I also agree that with Disney and Universal adding new attractions and even Six Flags tinkering with Superman, Knott's has to add something new to keep its share of the crowds. And, it has to be a ride, or maybe rides, I could see a coaster or some flat rides might be a quick fix.
  10. Yeah, there was even a long line for Jaguar, and I can't remember the last time I saw Montezuma's queue that full.
  11. Just in case anyone cares, Knott's was packed today. I parked the farthest away i have ever parked, and lines were so long that I only rode the mine train. I never go on a saturday, but my daughters birthday is tomorrow, and I gotta take her for a play date at Sea World monday (and Belmont), so pretty much i promised her and this was the only available day. Lucky for me she doesn't like to wait in line, so a couple rides in camp snoopy and that was it. The one thing I do like when Knott's is busy, is that all the concessions are open. I really hate in the off season when half the stuff is closed and then the ones that are open have like one person trying to handle all the orders.
  12. Ok , it was just like, I been planning my daughters birthday and everybody flaked out. So, I had a rough couple of weeks trying to put together a "King Kong" birthday. Yes, my daughter chose of all things King Kong, which wouldn't be too bad, but good luck finding any Kong party stuff. I actually bought a clown pinata and turned it into King Kong, it wasn't easy, the hair on my arms is still stuck together with glue. On top of that I had to go to 5 Party City's to raid the jungle animal favors and take all the gorilla figures and then i was crapping my pants waiting for the last mail order stuff that arrived today, birthday is tomorrow. And then, I got a break and I'm like "I will go relax and check out the forum" and damn if Elissa ain't mad at me!!! Aw hell, what's gonna happen next, the cake orders gonna be lost? Nobody's gonna show and I gotta eat 6 pizza's? Sorry I misread you, i was just in a really funky mood and all that will probably change after the party is over and done with. I should send KT a Kong bag of crap, seeing as how after all the running around, I now have too much Kong stuff. So, ride pieces in the parking lot you say, very interesting. I don't have a #1 dad shirt for nothing!
  13. Actually I thought you might be amused, apparently not. I actually put the PS at the bottom so you would know i was making a joke and I know you are busy with the upcoming trips and I would guess now even next years trips.
  14. ^Cool, I'm going tomorrow, I haven't ridden Ghostrider for a couple months, since it left a bruise on my leg for like a month.
  15. Terrible, I saw one of these on TV and thinking how cool it would be, because it looked "safe". I really feel for the parents, my daughters turning 6 and is just about tall enough for her next level or rides and this kinda thing always makes me think twice about what i put my kids on. Hopefully this will draw enough attention to get the ride manufacturer to make the changes need to make this ride fail safe and idiot proof.
  16. Don't have time? Going to Magic Mountain for you, is like going to the supermarket for me, your apartment is practically in Six Flags parking lot. PS- I know your busy creating happiness for coaster people.
  17. Can't you still get discount tickets at Ralph's or something?
  18. Ok, sent payment in the form of a check like an adult, these kids and their silly electronic money. (New things scare me!!!)
  19. ^I avoid paypal fees...by not using paypal, it's like magic.
  20. Tony Hawk would be awesome at SFMM, and with it's compact size it would be a good fit.
  21. ^SFMM is only a "decent" collection of coasters?
  22. I think if you could arrange this while a local fair was in town, you might be able to get a tilt a whirl to use just because the local news might want to run a story about it. Or not, i dunno, just a thought.
  23. How many rides can SF add Gotham theming to? Its getting old. I am not a big fan of Scream either. It was a cookie cutter built for the number. Easy answer: as many as it takes. Thats like asking how many rides can California Adventure add Disney theming to. I mean if you have licensed characters you use them. At any other park Scream would be a top coaster, it just has to be in he shadow of a lot of other great coasters at SFMM and it's buddy Colossus has declined in popularity and doesn't get many people over to that part of the park. Theme it Bane put it where Tidal wave is, the GP will think it's a totally new coaster.
  24. Nothing will ever be greater than the zipper, except maybe a good full size tilt a whirl.
  25. I think if they moved scream where Tidal Wave is and give it some Gotham theming it would do pretty good. Figure you would have three B & M coasters, of different types, themed as different Batman characters. How could you go wrong, but what character? PS- I think Scream is pretty awesome, I think themeing and location are it's only issues.
