Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

That ride has had more homes than Olympia Looping. TAER IT DOWN!!!! -
That's an awful lot of effort for Great America. Remember, it's still very much a Six Flags park, operations and all the other "perks" you'd expect. Add it to a road trip, sure, but don't waste the time and money for a single day. Save that for somewhere worth it. Goliath and Maxx Force aren't worth it.

Am I being dumb? Road trip '25
KBrylczyk replied to KBrylczyk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm starting from BloNo, Illinois, so Michigan's Adventure is a short detour from the route to Canada's Wonderland. -
I'm trying to plan a trip around Lake Erie but these darn new coasters are making it difficult. My plan is to visit Michigan's Adventure, Canada's Wonderland, Darien Lake, Waldameer, and Cedar Point. My intention was to take this trip after Alpenfury and Siren's Curse were up and running but it seems there's no idea on when that may be. With Six Flags being involved I'm guessing they'll be New For 2027 but a man can dream. My problem is I need to make some more concrete plans than "this summer" and I don't know when would be the smartest time to go. Honestly I'm only expecting crowds at CW and CP but I'm paralyzed by the choice between visiting early to beat summer break and probably miss the new rides or visit later and deal with crowds and heat. I'd love to say I can just wait until September but my autumn is pretty solidly booked already and the operational calendars of these parks make it difficult to have an efficient trip after labor day. Also, while we're on the topic, I've got the all-park passport loaded on my Six Flags app and it's updated to the latest edition, yet it refuses to show anything Cedar Fair related. I noticed Cedar Fair apps are for each park, so do I have to annoyingly download three separate apps and load my pass onto all of them to get into the parks, or will they accept the one loaded on the Six Flags app? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for the help!

I mean, Six Flags is trying to turn Darien Lake into a 4-day resort if we're going by their ads. Maybe climate change is making these guys focus on the north? Buffalo - The New Orlando. They both even end in O. -

Lost Island has entered the chat... There are so many clones, namely SLCs, Boomerangs, and Six Flags clones in general, that I've walked right by without even looking at the wait time. Those are always afterthoughts for me in case I have extra time or I'm just reallllllly bored. Hell, I skipped half of Six Flags Mexico's lineup because there's a Dark Knight indoor mouse, a 4D Free Fly, an off the shelf spinner, a Boomerang, an SLC, maybe a couple others. Medusa and Superman were the only two coasters I genuinely cared about because they're originals. Medusa was fun but not worth the 90 minute wait while Supes was a 10-minute wait all day and is easily one of the best coasters out there; certainly Morgan's best coaster. All that to say, yes, you save a lot of time and effort by skipping mediocre clones. -
^ I saw that, too. Great Adventure is talking a big game about 2026, but for all we know it could be breaking the record for longest wacky worm. The thing that gives me pause about that article is that there are no facts, no evidence, just "i know a guy who said this thing." Also it states that they're in contact with various amusement companies and waiting on the right bidder, so that means it's a concept that's about to become as real as Orlando's Polercoaster.

Spring break. Caveat emptor. -
Look up any trip reports to Dubai Parks & Resorts. These parks are mostly for the middle east billionaires to burn through mountains of cash so they don't have to pay taxes. As I'm writing this I'm realizing I have zero room to talk because I have no clue if any of these parks have seen significant crowds or not. I'm just under the impression that they're ghost towns. Edit - All that to say, if I see Falcon's Flight is actually operating reliably, I'm looking into flights. With the way things are going it's not like I'm caring about my retirement account anymore.

Retrack it all. Replace it with steel track, I don't give a hoot. The only thing, the ONLY thing that I'm asking for, is to remove the trims in the shed. At the very least, relocate them to the beginning of the shed, not the end. -

$45 million apiece? Relatively small footprint? I feel like this might be similar to the Uncharted coaster. -

If they skimp out and I don't get a US-based equivalent of EuroMIR or Eurosat I'm going to be very disappointed. -

I really appreciate the inclusion of a Clench-O-Meter, Underwear Evacuation Rate, and Soul Exit Probability. This is proper hype. -

It's important to hold onto hope. Sometimes it's all we really have, I guess... -
Yeahhhhhh, Goretorium had a prime center-strip location at Harmon Corner, next to Planet Hollywood. It did alright at Halloween time but dove off a cliff the rest of the year. Universal is really banking on this being an in-demand year-round attraction and I just don't see it happening regardless of what special events they pull. I know many permanent installation haunts will do a Krampus haunt and/or a Valentines haunt, but those are very short opening periods, usually one or two weekends. HHN does killer business for 12 weeks of the year. This might do the same. What are they going to do for the other 40?

Good news, but also I guess I can't count on getting on Dragon Mountain during my road trip to Canada's Wonderland this year. -
Glad to see that something is FINALLY coming out of that rumor for Courthouse Square. I recall years ago seeing murmurings of them making it a regular stop for the backlot tour, but at night they'd re-enact the DeLorean being sent back via lightning strike, with an actual DeLorean (recreation, I'm sure) speeding through the street and disappearing in a flash of light and fire. This was back when I still lived in Vegas and I eagerly waited for an announcement that never came. Everything else listed seems rather mediocre, more or less a port of the things they do as USJ where you can look at some props and recreations of sets but nothing really engaging. I'm hoping the Star Trek thing is more or less a rebuild of the Star Trek Experience from the Vegas Hilton. Both attractions offered there were top notch, even though they ended in a simple simulator or 4D movie. The overall experience of being beamed up and walking through the Enterprise as it came under attack was extremely immersive and well-done.

I'm no expert for Great America, only saying what I've witnessed the past two years. 2023 I was able to bang out a good chunk of rides but still missed Maxx Force, Viper, American Eagle, Demon, Batman, Flash, Superman, Dark Knight, etc. I skipped most of those, though, because they were carrying a 45+ minute wait all day and they're rides I've done plenty of times at other Six Flags parks, so no big deal. 2024 was more or less the same, but I prioritized Maxx Force, Viper, and American Eagle as they're unique to the park and I hadn't ridden them. I'm 2.5-3 hours south of the park. Even with a season pass both years I only went once each year. For context, I went to Great Adventure multiple times both years (we visit family in Jersey 3-5 times annually) and was able to make those shorter, half-day or less visits and I was still able to bang out nearly the entire park each time, including MULTIPLE laps on star attractions like Toro, Jersey Devil, and Ka. Great America I've spent the entire day at the park and hardly made a dent both times. Great America has potential and has a great lineup of coasters and flats, but operations have soured me to the park. I'd much rather drive the 2-ish hours to Six Flags St Louis and go buckwild there all day like I did last year. Mr. Freeze and The Boss are more than worth the trip alone and, hot take, are better rides than 90% of what Great America offers. Yeah, I said it. Goliath and, to a lesser extent, Maxx Force, are the only truly standout attractions at Great America. The other rides are plenty fun but kinda boilerplate since they have so many clones.
