Nobody is forcing LLP on the guests. This is just another easy cash grab for the company. Yeah, a single day ticket is pricey, but compared to the price of other entertainment options these days it's actually quite reasonable. Would I rather spend $200 for a day at Disney or spend $200 for a 2-hour Broadway show? Disney. No question. I'm a friggin IATSE Journeyman stagehand and I'd rather go to Disney than support my industry. The last Broadway show I saw was A Strange Loop two years ago and that's only because I found a balcony seat day-of for $58. Cursed Child I spent $156 on for the second row but that was entirely funded by my per diem budget while on tour.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

I went to SFStL for the first time this past weekend. Um, quick question, but why so so many people whine about this park? It's GREAT! I had a blast all day long! The Boss - Holy crapola, maybe it's because I had bottom-of-the-barrel expectations from hearing nonstop bitching about how rough this ride has become, but goddamn this is one of the most balls-out coasters I've ever been on. This thing just RRRRRRRRRIPS through the course and tells the passengers to hold the hell on. I truly, 100%, unironically, LOVE this ride. Love love love. Give me more. The morning rides were exceptionally fun because they still had the sprinklers going during the post-MCBR turnaround. I was hooting, hollering, and laughing the entire ride every time. My only complaint is the queue being nothing but uphill ramps for five miles. Other than that, no notes. 10 laps. Mr Freeze - D-D-D-DAYUM!!!!! I've never been on a Freeze before (the one in Texas was dead when we visited) and holy hell what a fun ride! Surprise airtime kicks all throughout the course, the spike is wacky, the launch is punchy, and the track switch in the station is a hoot! 7 laps. American Thunder - Not great, not terrible, extremely mediocre but still cute and fun enough. 1 lap. Screamin Eagle - Classic woodie that's gotten a little worse for the wear over the years but I still had a blast flying through the woods! 3 laps. Would have been more but it's in the worst area of the park to walk back to over and over and I just wasn't feeling it. Ninja - Ow. 1 lap. Batman - Mirror clone! Still a fantastic invert, even if it has been cloned all over the world a thousand times. It's always worth the ride. 1 lap. Boomerang - Pass. Pandemonium - Zippy little spinner, fun enough but nothing amazing. We hardly spun for the first half but realllllllly got moving for the second half. We hit the brakes and kept spinning like a teacup for a while until we moved far enough ahead to catch the reset bar. 1 lap. River King Mine Train - I love me a good, classic mine train. While this one isn't big or fast it has heart. I loved the terrain style layout. 2 laps. Rookie Racer - Cute little ride for the young'ns but nothing noteworthy for adults. I really got tired of listening to the revving engine sound effect that plays near nonstop while waiting for Joker. 1 lap. Joker - Fun, but without the funhouse queue operating. The views from this ride, though, holy cow. Supergirl - I've been on a bunch of Enterprise-style flats, this is my first time in the open-air style seats. Fun, though hardly a thrill, and over-engineered compared to a classic Enterprise. Justice League - It broke as soon as we left the loading area. Sat there for about 10 minutes, then rode half of the ride with the lights on. No offer to re-ride with show lighting, no desire to try again. SkyScreamer - I love Sky Flyers. This is yet another one. Catwoman's Whip - Closed most of the day, when I saw it operating it already had a 45-minute wait and I really didn't care enough to wait. Seriously, people, this park is a lot of fun. It certainly isn't the greatest but it is FAR from the worst. -

TT2 is reverting back to TTD. They realized they hired the wrong company and Intamin won't play their games any longer. -

I rode it a month or so ago with the OTSRs. It wasn't nearly as bad as people were saying (because a lot of people are pansies) but it certainly had a few janked-out transitions. I didn't get any really bad knocks, though. Either way, no OTSRs are better than having them! I'm excited to go back next year and give it another shot. -

Zamperla. Not even once. -
Yeah, Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are getting axed for these expansions. Here's a look at the overall area where they're going. Basically all of that green space from Tom Sawyer Island and north, stretching from east of Caribbean Way, south of Floridian Way, and west of Center Drive is in play. I'm assuming Cars Land will be TSI and west, Villains will be north of Haunted Mansion.

I'm curious what the price point will be. SF kept the annual passes low while CF hovered around twice the amount depending on the tier. -
Yet another "Hey, can I copy your homework? I'll change it up a little so they don't know!" approach for a Harry Potter land; a large gift shop with food and one ride. At least this time there's a legit show to see, I guess. Can anyone explain why they're still going full-bore into Potter? I enjoyed the HP books and movies but Fantastic Beasts has been, largely, a failure of the brand, not to mention JK Rowling's ongoing public image issues. It seems a bit strange to me that they're so fixated on this one IP when they have such a diverse portfolio to pull from for the parks. Do we really need a Potter variant in every park? I'm sure the ride will be fun but good gracious, variety is the spice of life.

Watch them come out of nowhere and announce a T-Rex or some other huge surprise. It'll probably be a few benches or something, though. -

I figured this was appropriate. Timestamp is the 1-minute mark if it doesn't load correctly. -
And the hits keep coming, Knott's... Seriously, what happened to this place? It used to be one of the best around but now it's a mere shadow of its former self. This has happened in the past few years. Was there a change in the management or executive offices? I can't understand how Knott's has fallen off so quickly.

Alright, so yesterday was pretty dang awesome. The park was a bit slow to wake up with a bunch of coasters being closed until 10:30/11am or so, but once things were in the groove it was smooth sailing. Crowd levels had waits at 15-30 minutes for most everything. Operations could use a little work as I noticed every single coaster stacking trains, though. Still, every coaster that had the capability to run three trains WAS running three trains. Stacking or not, that's appreciated. Hate to see that go-get-em attitude disappear once the Six Flags merger completes and we're down to one train being half-loaded. Coasters - Orion - Hoo buddy, this one surprised me. This bad boy RIPS through the layout and has some damn good airtime to boot! Definitely a front seat ride, though the back ain't bad at all, either. The wind in front, though, is the cherry on top. Diamondback - The airtime on this ride is legitimately scary. This isn't standard B&M floater air but instead it's "bucking bronco trying to send you into Kentucky" air. Back seat is best. Mystic Timbers - Fast and wicked ride through the woods with a phenomenal first drop. Tons of laterals and some nice air pops. The shed is a complete waste of time, effort, and money, though. Back row is intense, especially getting ripped down the first drop. Banshee - Holy hot dicks from hell! I had absolutely NO IDEA how great this ride is. I'd heard the good reviews and I've seen the POVs but lawd almighty this monster is completely different than I was expecting. It rides like a mid-90s Beemer! Forces out the yin-yang on every element, especially the batwing and second vertical loop. Back row is is my fave, if for no other reason than that first drop. Best ride in the park alongside... The Beast - It's The Beast. It's one of the greatest rides on the planet. It also has some truly awful trims in the first bit (first drop, second hill, and the long shed) but after the long shed it returns to the incredibly wild run through the woods we all know and love. The trim before the helix has mercifully been moved to the top of the hill, so now you hit the tunnel full-bore and go screaming around that bitch like a bat out of hell. All hail the king, especially in the front row. The Bat - I love this ride, even if it does have a horrible location compared to the rest of the park. IIRC, back in 2003 it was much more visible and accessible with SoB in the area. Instead it's now a relic hiding behind a 5-mile hike with an entrance hardly seen at Banshee's exit. Damn shame, because this is a very fun and fast suspended coaster. Racer - Third row has some great airtime on this classic. Fun stuff! Backlot Stunt Coaster - Great launch and helix, boring everything else. Slowest line in the park. Flight Of Fear - Closed most of the day, broke down when I was entering the UFO. Didn't ride. Adventure Express - Packs a punch! I love me a good mine train and this one didn't disappoint. Ride it in the back to get the real janked-out experience, ya jabronis. This ride is great. Invertigo - Pass. I rode Two-Face when it was at SFA. I'm good. Other Rides - Boo Blasters - Yeah, this has seen better days. Cute enough and an easy way to escape the sun, but the guns hardly work and there's a large amount of broken effects. Delirium - Fun ride but after riding a larger version it didn't feel as wacky. Windseeker - This was my first Windseeker after riding many Star Flyers. Let's just say there's a reason these haven't been built in a while. Star Flyers are a much simpler mechanical ride and much more reliable. This was also pretty uncomfortable, for some reason. Good view, though. Blue Ice Cream - Yummy yummy in my tummy.
