"We keep spending most our lives living in a dark ride paradise..." The attention to detail here is astounding. I wish them the best of luck with both current projects and their highly intriguing future endeavors. Time will tell, but comparisons to Knoebels are definitely starting to seem apt. Add me to the list of those who will be sure to at least visit the place once it's reached its full glory, if not sooner.

Silverwood Discussion Thread

^Thanks. While I'm 100% aware this could just be wishful thinking, I came up with some possible evidence... - Coaster has at least two inversions (can we tell if there are only two?) - First inversion does appear shorter than total height - Definitely the first of its kind - Would be a major ride and significant change to the skyline, but possibly still compact enough for quick assembly - Oh, and not too terribly similar to Aftershock (plus, perhaps they've taken a liking to Vekoma because of said ride) -
Before the results come out, I just wanted to talk about a few coasters I've seen discussed in this thread. Roar East versus Roar West: I don't rank them too far apart, but rode both this year and find Roar West to be much better. I've ridden it on 5 occasions among the 2009 and 2012 seasons, and its ranking has held steady, at a current 44 out of 85, versus 61 for Roar East. Roar West is almost unbearable in the back, but has 2 or 3 decent pops of air in the front. Roar East didn't have much to offer at all and felt shorter than its sibling, though it's actually longer. I feared I might return to Roar West only to find it closer in experience to Roar East, but no; it's still clearly superior. Jack Rabbit: Not a fan. I do like the charming, old school tunnel and the pleasant setting. The double dip is decent and surprising, but not life-altering. (Yes, I rode in the back row, hands up.) I much prefer the singular extreme drops on Cyclops and Coaster Thrill Ride, or the many strong pops on rides like Coaster, SCBB Dipper, and Phoenix. Best GCI: Of course, the poll itself will give some insight, but there are also some threads for this topic, best GCI and GCI with the most airtime. (Only pointing this out because I find them interesting myself.)

Something about the "two different ways" says "flat ride" to me, although I'm sure with various interpretations there are at least a few ways that could be accomplished with a coaster. Is it crazy that I immediately thought of Silverwood and only Silverwood upon seeing this? It does mention two large inversions, and the closing comment sounds like it could be a subtle hint that someone may know what's up. (By the way, it looks somewhat disturbing...especially since it's a Vekoma creation.) -
Weird/ Out of place coasters

It always throws me off a bit that Corkscrew isn't located in Coaster Alley. Then again, it's just a name. -
I'm not always this late, but I just turned mine in yesterday. I actually filled it out early on and then held off so I could re-evaluate Roar West, which ended up keeping the same spot. ^^I adore the picture in the background so much, it's my lock screen on my phone. I still keep pondering whether it's edited, or whether they were actually able to time the rides perfectly so that each one was visibly running. Can't wait for the announcement! My thoughts are still mixed as to what it might be. A lot of theories point to a major flat ride, but it seems like some coaster out there could be quick enough to build and easy enough to keep secret. -

Well, they announced that quick. Seems like a welcome addition. Am I missing something, or are the restraints really that minimal-looking nowadays? Now those look like noodles. -

Just glanced at the main post on FB and didn't even realize it was a teaser for something new, though I couldn't match it up to anything they currently own. Is it sad that my first thought was Twister? (Though at least I was feeling surprised by the idea that it might be that tall and slow.) Edit: I am now 100% unembarrassed, as the #1 guess on FB is by far Phoenix, with second place going to Twister... -

22/26, and could've done slightly better. -
Speaking of animals at parks, I've seen a few while on TPR trips. Crazy squirrel behavior at Silver Dollar City. Skunk walking down the stairs at SFNE as I walked up. Those weird rodent beggar thingies at La Ronde. Bunnies at Lake Compounce and on the grounds of Hersheypark. Cat colony on the beach near Steel Pier. Froggy in the I305 queue at Kings Dominion. I took a picture of one of the many pet dogs at Knoebels and later noticed it was a hairless dog.

Perfect post right there. I can't think of anything to add without going overboard (and thus getting eaten by a shark).

At first glance, it almost looks like a complete ride. I like how it blends with the sky...and snow. -

I'd be happy with an addition at any park that's at least as good as Cheetah Hunt, with a Maverick Killer being my ultimate dream come true. I don't recall finding Chunt more than vaguely disappointing, if at all, since I had already seen a lot of negative reviews. I actually compare it favorably to Maverick, even though it's significantly less intense. Incidentally, it's the fairly-well-liked Backlot Stunt Coasters that are some of the few launchers (and even fewer Premiers) I don't care for. -

Looking forward to more news on this, especially as I really enjoyed Steel Hawg and I would think they've only gotten better (at least assuming the newer restraints come standard). I guess I have some time to decide whether to hold off on visiting 'til it opens, or go before then and sweep it up later when it does. It's like how I always go back and forth on whether I should try to go out of my way for Desperado, or to wait for Speed in case it make a comeback. -
What is your non-theme park travel bucket list?
cal1br3tto replied to disneyfan1313's topic in Random, Random, Random
This is a bit of a challenge for me, as I'm one of those hardcore coaster enthusiasts who rarely has qualms about planning trips that mostly or exclusively focus on coasters. Yeah, it's often the other stuff that ends up being more memorable, but I'm always completely grateful for the parks and coasters I'm able to work in! That said, here are a few ideas... --Visit all 50 US states; I'm currently at 37 plus DC. And while I don't have any artificial requirements for what counts as a state credit, it might be nice to make proper visits to a few states I rolled right through on my first visit. --Stay in a Victorian mansion, preferably in the tower. That is, if I don't rent or buy one first! --Cruises --More skyscraper credits. --Prague, with its stunning architecture. --New Orleans I can definitely recommend NYC, especially for those who hesitate to leave the US. It's almost a country of its own! -
What is a better formula for a coaster?
cal1br3tto replied to gforce1994's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, looking at the thread title and subtitle, I would've gone for a pure airtime machine. But if both the airtime and the positive forces are strong, that could make for one of the better coasters the world has seen.
