  1. I went to the park today and Flight Deck was finally open! I asked a ride-op and he said it re-opened last night. But FireFall was closed all day again. What s shock. When I went to SFDK a couple weeks ago, Voodoo was also down all day. Top Spins just have to much maintenance components that they always are down.
  2. ^True that! Grizzly is the only coaster in the park with a covered station.
  3. Grizzly, unpopular. Grizzly is one of the most popular rides there because it attracts a lot of families.
  4. They are IMO abit pointless especially the ones on Demon. Because it's retractable, it's pretty long. Infact it allows the OTSR to go all the way up, so it's pointless as a body size limiter and as a backup. The ride ops don't even bother checking them (atleast on Demon). The ones on CP's Corkscrew, they mounted them in the most inconvenient way possible. Like that: http://pointbuzz.com/Photos/Photo.aspx?id=2363&tag=corkscrew%7cseatbelt That could seriously chip someone's tooth or whip someone in the eye. I don't get why don't they just mount them the B&M or Vekoma way. ~ Jess "Excuse my B&M fandomness" Chan From what I understand, the seat belts are just visually checked on the Demon because the seats are too low for the operators to physically tug on (they would have to get on their knees to physically check the seat belts).
  5. Looks like the Nickelodeon and Hanna Barbera characters/merchandise/rides will be changed to the Peanuts for next year. There are signs outside of the stores selling Nickelodeon merchandise that selected items are 75% off. And all Hanna Barbera merchandise is 50% off at the store next to Delirium. Sad because kids these days don't know who Snoopy is. I would love to see the full return of the HB characters though.
  6. I love the modified V2 over the previous version. It's an awkward but fun feeling to be held upside down, or at an awkward angle for a couple seconds.
  7. The only B&M inverts I have been on are Silver Bullet, Flight Deck (CGA), and B:TR (SFMM). IMO, I think FD packs a bigger punch that the batman clones.
  8. Do you guys know what day you'll be at CGA? I'm not going on the trip nor do I want any of the special benefits associated with the trip, but just wanted to maybe meet some TPR people during the day and hang out for a bit. And yes, I did read the whole post, but I figured this is a different question.
  9. 3 1/2 hours for Tatsu its opening season.
  10. What the Paramount Parks did was having to say "clear" out loud before dispatching the ride.
  11. This whole "check" thing applies to CGA also. Must be a CF policy; whatever floats their boat. Great TR though!. Always wanted to go to CP!
  12. Class of '06 baby! But congrats to all the '09ers out there.
  13. I don't know it this was ever posted, but looks like the coaster was pretty much approved. scw.tearn.com/2009/04/great-americas-111-foot-roller-coaster.html
  14. The Saturdays I have been to the park so far this year have been pretty busy. Sundays, like most parks, are dead.
  15. Tomorrow is the Joyfest, which Switchfoot headlines. And if the lines are anything like they were when I went to the park last year on the concert day, there will even be lines to play the games. The entire overflow for Vortex was full. Flight Deck's line went to the bumper cars. Every ride in the park had a line. It was ridiculous, but great for the park.
  16. I think it's a great idea. I always felt like the park needed a place where parents can go if they don't like riding rides, instead of them always sitting on benches all day.
  17. The shoes requirement policy has always been a policy on the three water rides outside of Boomerang Bay.
  18. Here's a good video of a typical FireFall cycle when the gondola is full. vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=40747087&searchid=5693dfa9-4253-41a4-b42b-327b628d58b5
  19. Well, I went to the park and the Flight Deck video booth is closed and the cameras on the back of the cars are missing and the computers on the desk from the Vortex photo booths are gone. And why would a park announce the removal of something so small and not of importance as on-ride pictures videos? Personally, I think on-ride pictures are a joke. The videos are alright, but every time I go on a ride that has pictures/videos, I don't even bother looking at them.
  20. Starting this season, Vortex and Flight Deck no longer offer on-ride photos and/or videos.
  21. Flight Deck has videos Vortex has photos Psycho Mouse has photos Logger's Run has photos Demon and Invertigo used to have photos like 4 years ago, but not anymore. Not anymore. As of opening day, Flight Deck no longer sells videos, and Vortex no longer sells photos. The only rides that still do on-ride pictures is Psycho Mouse and Loggers Run. Taxi Jam did last year, but I'm not sure about this year.
  22. FireFall is painful, but the program it runs on is a lot better IMO than other Top Spins in the U.S., as long as the gondola is full. I personally like Flight Deck a lot better than the Batman clones. I just feel like it is more intense and is really unique. even though it is short. And definitely ride the flats, they do have a really good collection of old style flats (Orbit, Centrifuge, Berserker, etc.) and the "newer" ones (Drop Tower, FireFall, Delirium, Survivor, etc.) And they also have Flying Eagles, but I don't know whether to consider that old or new.
  23. ^Yeah, but Terminator is built on one big cement slab. The proposed land where the new coaster would go is not level and still has old Whizzer footers, which would take a little longer to build because there is a lot of land clearing to do.
  24. Kind of long to read, but this is regarding the proposed coaster. It looks like it is closer to being a reality. It says on section 2C (which is page 18 of 24 on PDF) that the council approved the height variance. Also interesting is that they also submitted a different proposed location for the coaster before the current one. sireweb.santaclaraca.gov/cache/2/gtvdybr3cu3o3u55l1esoe45/10268704082009052914593.PDF
