  1. So, after about 100 rides on "Wodan" on about 20 different days...there`s something I`d like to say. I think Wodan is really depending on good speeds. The layout just isn`t THAT spectacular...so the ride doesn`t deliver all the time. Wodan is now open for about 6 weeks and today we reached about 30 C* (degrees) for the first time...and Wodan is still not as fast as it was during those first testruns on steel wheels...but it`s close now. It`s starts a bit lame in the morning...but that changes the later it gets. As far as I know by now about the half of the german coaster enthusiasts say that Wodan is the best ride in the park...and people seem to be VERY satisfied with Wodan now...and this is alot diffrerent from what I heard in the beginning. Yet STILL Wodan is no airtime machine at all...but the faster it gets...the "wilder" it becomes. I think it went from "good" to "very good"...but it`s not OMFG amazing...and I guess it will stay like that. My advice for you all is...try to ride it at least once in the dark if possible...the lightning-package is awesome...Wodan in the dark is hands-down the best thing you can experience at Europa...had it once a week ago...and it was STUNNING Greeds...George "ask Roland for nightrides" T.
  2. Me too. This thing looks as if it`s an airtime suckers wet dream...nothing short of amazing ! Too bad it`s not in Europe (End of criticism). It will rock the polls...I see this as the upcoming nuber one in steel...everything else would be a surprise for me. George T.
  3. In forums like this...you`ll always find people raving...and people complaining. Everyone who would expect anything else must be a complete idiot George "totally fed up from this arrogance" T.
  4. Thank you for posting reviews so early...and this sounds MORE than promising
  5. To be honest, everything in life can be an example of this. No...you cannot proof this with any bad stuff...you need something outstanding to proof that there`s always someone not so excited
  6. So..this must be the ultimate proof that you cannot do or build anything in the world that pleases everyone ! I totally respect your opinion...but I guess...maybe on another day with some nice company, better weather...you probably would have enjoyed it ! Wodan still didn`t fully break in...an Wodan doesn`t like the cold it seems...had some slow and VERY tame rides on it too. And welcome to the "not so small" Blue Fire Fayboy club Anyway...thanks again for sharing, Mrenata ! GeorgeT
  7. Love to follow this report...sooo many interesting thoughts...thanks Mrenata ! Looking forward to reading the rest...! And yes...Alpinabahn is in Stuttgart right now
  8. I think you captured Wodan...especially the indoor bits...VERY well...thanks !!! (Besindes : The weather forecast says that FINALLY it will be getting warm here in Germany...cause since Wodan opened it was quite cold here continuously...so here`s hoping for the first REALLY fast rides on Wodan )
  9. I love to follow you on this trip...many thanks for sharing !
  10. I guess I have to watch "Sharks in the mist (pretending to have fire)"...Directors cut (!)...once again to get the whole problem...
  11. I would love to see the nemesis comparison thing being fixed by sharks... Anyway...they are both B&m inverts, they are both in the same country...the parks are competitors...they will ALWAYS be compared, however you`ll name them...and nemesis will ALWAYS beat the crap out of inferno...just in case those sharks will NOT be able to fix that I LOVE this thread...
  12. Larry...you are soooo right with that ! I really do hope I learned that lesson myself. Funny enough while I was afraid that Wodan would stay too tame...by now I know, that Europa`s park management is more afraid of Wodan becoming TOO intense during the summertime...
  13. So...guess it`s time to resume my experiences on Wodan over the last two weeks... And I have to admit at first I wasn`t impressed at all with Wodan. Having seen Wodans testruns I thought that Europa build it`s first HIGHLY intense coaster...and I was so much looking forward to riding it in the end of March. Well...Europa Park changed Wodan`s wheels from steel to polyurethane...and suddenly Wodan wasn`t looking nor feeling that intense anymore !!! There were so many enthusiasts at Europa for Wodan pre-opening...and most of the reactions were just "meh"...it wasn`t bad at all...but far away from being very exciting...in fact most of Germany`s coaster experts were dissapointed AFAIK...including me. Well...I was talking to one of Europas park directors...and i was told that Wodan would be getting faster over the next few weeks (break-in process) and that higher temperatures would also make it run faster. I was STILL dissapointed...I thought it would stay too tame, I just wasn`t able to imagine the coaster going significanly faster. The problem was, that after a great first drop and very good pacing until the station flythrough...the train was a littlebit "crawling" through the second half...and I have to admit that after a brilliant and eventful first half the second half was a letdown...speed and layoutwise... Anyway...on the fourth day I rode Wodan front row in the late afternoon...and I thought "Okay...this is definitively getting better"...still not amazing, but intense enough for me to giggle throughout the ride...now, at least, it was REAL fun ! But honestly I was still not in the mood for raving about it....nor writing a review here for you guys. BUT THEN...I visited Europa again yesterday...and because the park was packed, the opening hours were prolonged to 19:30 instead of 18:00...and I was able to get on one of Wodans last rides that day...(so Wodan was already running for 10,5 hours) and because of the line for the front row being closed already...I found myself in the second row...well, NOT the best place to ride a woodie, so I wasn`t expecting much of it. But oh boy...what a difference ! For the first time I had the impression that Wodan was flying over the course...like it did on the steel wheels. Much faster than it was just two weeks ago. It was quite warm (NOT hot), and it was permanently running for many hours that day...but what I don`t get is : Why wasn`t if fast in the afternoon ? In fact it was okay in the afternoon...and it was WOW ! in the evening ! That last ride on Wodan was VERY good...very "wild"...and a good out-of-control experience...it was what I was hoping for from the beginning on. To be honest...I have no idea if there will be a time when Wodan will be that fast during the daytime...or if it will be getting even faster over the time. I don`t know...all I know is that the early reviews don`t say a lot about Wodan`s potential. Since yesterday I really see a chance that Wodan will be getting a REALLY good coaster...not only an "okay" experience. If there will be significant changes about Wodans pacing over the next weeks...I`m gonna report it here ! Greeds...GeorgeT
  14. On the one hand, the 12 mph joke was really funny IMHO...on the other hand this could be a very good coaster, and who know`s about the final speed, yet ? Looking forward to reading the first reviews...
  15. The whole area around Wodan is just stunning...took away my number one spot from italy !
  16. Yepp. it`s GCIs first WITHOUT seat belts. Europa Park always trys to reach maximum throughputs...so they didn`t accept them on Wodan !
  17. If there`s a will...then there`s a bush
  18. Cool...interesting found...really. Thanks
  19. Hanno, do you know it there`s an extra line for the first row ???
  20. I think on the last three pages some of the most amazing photos ever posted from Europa Park appeared...more than 500 clicks...yet there are so little responses. Seriously...I absolutely don`t get it
  21. So...got a handfull of ride reviews at first hand from those who took place in that Migros event (Wodan pre-opening). They all agreed, that the most significant quality is that Wodan gives a GREAT sense of speed (no surprise regarding the fact that it has such a huge drop followed by such a low to the ground layout combined with MANY tunnels/headchoppers/nearmisses) They all agreed that it`s really fun (Noone was dissapointed AFAIK). Yes...it has a few spots of air...but not that powerful air until now...but one of the parks directors told me that Wodan hasn`t reached its final speed yet...so I guess we have to wait and see...by the way...it`s not as fast as it was in the first test runs, because it has softer wheels now ! Wodan doesn`t feel like a typical woodie ! It has no metal wheels...just plastic/rubber wheels (because of noise reasons), probably that`s why it not loud at all...no rattle...unfortunately not the typical woodie roar (for me the biggest letdown so far)...maybe you can compare it with intamin prefabs. Greeds...GeorgeT
  22. Tadaaaa... It`s not EXACTLY looking slow
  23. On to the second serving...done by EP Fans.ch during Migros-Day (Thanks Marco !)
