SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It could be because the Busch parks are owned by a completely different company with a different approach at new rides/attractions. I've noticed that Blackstone seems to be investing in rides that AB probably wouldn't have (Mach Tower, Cheetaka, Manta West, and the possible prototype launcher coming to BGW come to mind). Blackstone enjoys taking slightly bigger risks in their investments. The whole copyright ordeal seems interesting though. -

Hey! It's been a while since I hit KD so I can't give you good advice on how to attack... However, BGW is my homepark so I'd recommend attacking the big rides (coasters, water rides, DarKastle) first and then spending the rest of the day taking it easy, doing rerides, and watching the shows. Weekends have weird crowds (very light throughout the day and busier later when all the locals raid the park). If it's cold, you won't have any problems with lines. Only the major rides (coasters, water rides, DarKastle) have Quick Queue. I've personally never had to use it so I can't give you too much advice on that. I know there are two kinds, regular which allows you to bypass lines on all the major rides once and premium which allows you to bypass lines on all major rides as many times as you like. If you're willing to spend the money to avoid waiting, go ahead and do it. Because Mach Tower isn't here yet, the crowds shouldn't be too bad. KD is a rides park, while BGW is more of an atmosphere park, so visiting whichever one first is a tossup. If you prefer rides, I'd visit BGW first and then hit KD after but for atmosphere, I'd visit KD then BGW.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

IIRC, SW7 will cater to thrillseekers. World's first launched wooden coaster. Since the British think woodies aren't as safe, AT can squeeze tons of perfect marketing out of this. Then toss few inversions into the mix and you've got a world first and a record breaker. Just throwing something out there. -
Work was the most fun thing I did this week... I can't wait for next week.

Hey everyone! BGW was pretty busy yesterday from what I heard from the guests (both overflow lots were filled). I wasn’t able to explore the rest of the park outside of Oktoberfest because I was working, but I did see some pretty heavy crowds at the rides I ran all day. Mach Tower is confirmed to open Memorial Day weekend! If you guys spot Dan (Arizona) working rides, stop by and say hey! I'm working next Saturday so I'm looking forward to seeing some local TPR members.

After going back to the live feed, it seems that one of the nuclear plants may be going off... If that happens, things could get much worse for the country. Death toll is ranging from 200-300 (more than NZ's quake), but could be higher, especially if the plant goes into meltdown. Japan is a pretty well-prepared country when it comes to quakes (from what I've read and now from the info Robb and others who have gone to Japan and seen this firsthand), so I think country will bounce back faster than most less-prepared countries. I'm actually a lot more worried about the nuclear plant. -

Click here for a full-length live feed of the disaster and all the coverage you really need. This disaster looks pretty bad from what I've seen so far but it could turn for the worse. I'm praying that everyone comes out okay in this. As of typing this, the death tool has climbed to about 50-60 people and could climb higher. Scene looks pretty bad. The internet is an amazing place. -
I stumbled across this on YouTube and thought it would be interesting to share here. Basically an in-depth look into South of the Border and it's operation 20 years ago (damn it's so hard to believe that it's been that long). Footage includes... - Some of the basic operations - Interesting tidbits about the history - An interview with the owner (RIP) - Actual footage of the amusement park in operation *gasp* Has the park even been in operation the last 10 years? - Some boring stuff in between - Fashion of the early 90s Having visited the place last summer, I had a good time. Granted some of the place seemed a bit rundown, it was a nice break from the highway. The billboards were especially fun considering I-95 in general is pretty desolate outside of KD. There seemed to be fewer billboards this time around than when I came by a few years ago though, which was a disappointment. The amusement park looked like it had seen better days though. Thoughts?

Technically when you purchase a software (like Photoshop), you still don't own it whatsoever, but instead, you are given the right to use that software, but not distribute it. Second copies (for example ROM images) are also technically illegal regardless of whether or not you own the original software, according to Nintendo... I have my own views on piracy and I won't go into too much detail here. Let's just say I'm not a fan of stuff like Vevo taking over the world.

TPR and Theme Park Artwork

Follow me on deviantART Become a fan on Facebook Flickr too! Thanks for the comments everyone! Originally gonna be called Return of Jigsaw, this is a roller coaster based off of the Saw franchise movies. Riders sit in free-spinning cars as they travel through Jigsaw’s most dangerous trap. Guests navigate through barbed wire rooms, buzzsaws, an electrified fence maze, and a flamethrower pit among the different traps used. -
More ride-op training today! Everyone passed the ops test with flying colors! Looking forward to seeing some TPR members in Williamsburg next summer.

Hey everyone! Rides were testing for the first time today! I haven't received word at any of my orientations that the ride was gonna be a 300 footer and with the stringent height laws that Williamsburg has on top of the Kingsmill residents complaining about height and noise (except me of course), I highly doubt any of this is legit anyway (at least until more info is released). 90 degree upward launch (from the ground) is definitely possible... Look at TTD/Hypersonic. For a 90 degree launch (space shuttle style) look at Volcano... Granted Volcano is already traveling at a high speed when it hits the vertical launch, but it's still a vertical launch nevertheless. Mach Tower opens around May!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't understand what all the hate about viral marketing is about. It's fun and it gets people excited about the new attraction. Don't like it? Just ignore it... Viral marketing in general is really taking off and won't go away any time soon, especially with more parks turning to social media. And even then, the info released by Hersheypark is still vague enough to the point where it can be just about anything and not just a hyper. -
Second day of orientation at BGW today! I can't wait until summer rolls around. I'll probably be sick of the Oktoberfest music, have sore feet, stand out in the sun all day, and an armful of maps to trade. But it will still be awesome nevertheless!

Follow me on deviantART Become a fan on Facebook Flickr too! Apocalypse is a launch roller coaster inspired by Lagoon's Wicked. Riders are sent hurtling through the ruins of a city, abandoned many decades after an apocalypse wiped out the world's population. Launched from an outpost amidst the ruins, guests are launched up a 150 foot tower at 50 mph and sent plummeting into a 98 degree drop. The track twists and turns through the ruins as riders are sent upside down 7 times. Only the bravest of riders can truly uncover the secrets of this post-apocalyptic world. This drawing took about three weeks to complete. -

Page loaded slightly slower than most websites (about 15-20 seconds) using the latest version of FF + Add ons and a few other tabs open. If I closed some of the tabs it could load faster so I'd say it's loads in about 5-10 seconds. -
Six Flags Ontario: A Redo [RCT2]

B&M didn't exist in the 80s since they were still part of Intamin... nor did GCI... On top of that, SF's first DC Comics themed coaster was SFGAm's Batman, which was built in 1992. Since you already have a good park, I would suggest scapping the timeline aspect and building in "years" (like year 1, year 2, etc... so that the B&Ms and GCI's would make more sense).
