  1. I saw Artie Lange trying to get on the Viper at Darien Lake. They wouldn't let him on cause he was too fat. I think he has lost weight. Maybe he will try to ride again if he can stop making fun of Bababooey's first pitch at the Mets game.
  2. I've lurked here for a long time but wanted to reply to this comment, so I finally actually registered. Robb, you are completely incorrect on your assumption that the King Kong tram tour stop uses the same technology used in Disaster's preshow. Kong is not musion at all. Kong is all 3D - no different than T23D/Shrek/Spider-Man/etc. This will actually require every rider on the tram to put on 3D glasses for that scene. Awkward, but true. I worked on this project during it's development. It's uh, interesting. That is pretty cool you had a part in this! What were you actually a part of during the development?
  3. ^Dont forget Maverick and Wicked Twister. They suck and are overrated. I wouldnt ride on either of those if I were you guys. Power Tower, SkyHawk, and Maxair also suck. Don't waste your time in those lines.
  4. And I stand by my statement. I reiterate that I don't HATE Cedar Point, nor any of it's rides. I look at their lineup and just see that nothing in it except for Maverick and Dragster differentiates it from any other park. My statement is bold, but it's even bolder to say you have the "best" collection of coasters when only two or three really stand out. And for the record, I don't really think that MM's lineup is anything worth jizzing over. I was merely using MM is an example. In fact, I really like parks like MM, GADV, CP, BG and other large parks because I love the huge collection coasters. Each coaster doesn't have to be in everyones top 10 for me to have a good time. Most parks have one good coaster that you ride and then have nothing better to do than eat. I don't go to an amusement park to sit on a bench as some propose. I can do that down the street at a public park. I go to ride coasters and thrill rides. I would be happy as hell to have MM closer so I could spend a day riding all of those coasters more often despite reviews, lists, or rankings. I just get annoyed at the constant bashing of certain parks such as Cedar Point. Those people are going to turn off others from taking the trip and experiencing all that CP has to offer. People act as if there is nothing to do in Ohio but Sandusky and Lake Erie actually offer a lot of fun. (Try Put-in-Bay- home to the worlds longest bar and tons of hot chicks ) And for the record Bollinger&Mallibard, I do not think you were doing this. Unlike many on this site, you generally make intelligent posts and tend to make a lot of sense with what you say.
  5. That is a bold statement. Maverick and Dragster are the only noteworthy rides? I can name plenty other rides that are noteworthy whether you like them or not. You are bashing a park just because it is not in your neck of the woods. I could say SFMM only has two noteworthy rides such as X2 and Tatsu. However, even though I am not the biggest fan of certain rides like Goliath, I would never say it isn't noteworthy because plenty of people love it. List of noteworthy rides(IMO): Raptor- One of the best inverts MF- Many people have it ranked as their #1 Mantis- Gets beat up in the forums here but the general public loves it Magnum- A classic coaster that has got a little rough like most 20 year old coasters. It still gets plenty of discussion time despite its old age. Maverick and Dragster- With your expertise you agreed on these two! And plenty of medium range coasters to enjoy in between waits for the big rides. Multiple thrilling flats that I don't see in many parks that people mention as being so great. It is funny just how much people love to bash CP. It gets annoying after a while. It is like people bashing USC football because they are always good. People are haters! USC will be in deep SH** for paying their players but that is besides the point!
  6. ^Penguins blew it last night Washington will move to the next round now.
  7. 1: MF (I forget all of this world's issues for the 2:20 ride on this beast!) 2: Maverick (Pure Chaos!) 3: Kraken (Best Floorless by far in my opinion...I love it!) 4: El Toro (Best woodie..sorry Voyage) 5: Alpengeist (Just a bad-ass ride!) 6: The Mummy (Universal Florida) Does it count? 7: Voyage (Makes the trip to HW worth it alone.) 8: Superman SFNE (Pure Intamin fun!) 9: Diamondback (Typical Hyper that may lose spots as early as this year) 10: Superman Krypton SFFT (I love the layout and scenery!) Honorable Mention: -Expedition G-Force -Tatsu -X -Riddlers Revenge -Nitro -Top Thrill Dragster -Raptor -Magnum -Mantis -Apollo's Chariot -Silver Star -Behemoth
  8. I am still a little puzzled with the wood coaster idea for terminator. However, what I am seeing in these pictures is great. The bridge over to the ride, the que area, and the buildings look fantastic. From now on, I am going to reserve any judgement until we see the finished result. The positives of this ride are trumping the fact that it's a wooden Terminator. I think this will be a good example of how you can create a big draw without dropping 20 million dollars.
  9. Wow, this coaster looks awesome! I cannot wait to ride it. What park will be the first to install one of these gems? Dare I say, "CP 2010?"
  10. Not everybody values force as much as you. I thought Batman at SFMM was the worst invert I had ever ridden because of the annoyingly tight layout. I prefer wide open speed and smooth curves. I liked X-flight, err Firehawk and prefer it over Superman Clones, but I would take a Tatsu or Manta anyday of the week. So you see my friend, we all have different tastes.
  11. Looks pretty sweet! I love seeing the videos and hearing the reports. Keep them coming you guys!
  12. How can you say SGADV is better than CP? It is only a matter of opinion. That is why threads like this are ridiculous. I have been to both and, in my head, have no idea how a person can say GADV is anywhere close to CP. I think CP is better in every way possible except they don't have a great woody like EL Toro. But that is only my opinion. To me Great Adventure is noting more than SFMM's lesser known sister. Like Nikki Hilton to Paris Hilton. If you are responding to a thread like this you need to be courteous of other opinions.
  13. It doesn't matter where you go, you will be nickeled and dimed. That is just the way our world is these days. I can't believe it costs $8 for a beer at a concert or ballgame. Anyone that is not upper-middle class or upper-class cannot afford to go to a Yankees game in New York. The blue collar people built that franchise and now they are shutout from the games. It is not just an amusement park or Six Flags issue, it's a world economic issue.
  14. Mason Only Night was awesome, haha. I think our group got about 7-9 rides in on DB. I'm more than sure we'll run into each other sometime this season, if not tomorrow. I'll be there from 3:30ish to...whenever! Probably 10. Not sure though. I'll have a yellow and blue Madagascar Penguins shirt on, and hang around Diamondback. Haha. See ya later? -Zach I'll have a yellow and blue Madagascar Penguins shirt on, and hang around Diamondback. Haha. ??? Are you that bored?!!! Just playing I haven't had a chance to get down there since opening day. Hopefully soon
  15. CP is a no brainer to me. Especially if you have never been. First off I believe CP coasters are overwhelmingly better, except for EL Toro. Nobody can dispute that. Otherwise CP has the edge in everything else. You can compare the coasters all you want but then add the flat rides. CP destroys GADV and MM in that category. Then add the fact the CP is right on Lake Erie. Scenery edge, CP. Finally, KI is only 4 hrs away. Another edge to CP. I like SFADV but if you can only go to one, Cedar Point is a no brainer. GADV is to burgers as Cedar point is to steak!
  16. Quoted for truth. But the kiddie rides are cheaper, so they try to fake it. You guys obviously don't have any children. Tell that to my daughter who could ride a whopping 4 rides at Silver Dollar City last weekend. 2 if you remove the dark ride and the train. She rode that frog ride AT LEAST 10 times but was upset when she couldn't ride anything else. However, she is only 19 months old and only 31 inches tall but is a daredevil like her mom and dad! I agree with Electerik that family rides are far more important than kiddie rides. You also need to consider whether a amusement park is the best place to take your 19 month old child. Im not even sure the Disney is the best place for a child of that age. There are so many other places that an infant can truly enjoy.
  17. Well, I was there on Sat. and finally have the time to give my review. First off, the ride looks amazing in person! It blends in perfect and allows for great views of the first drop and spashdown. The ride itself is equally as impressive. The first drop is great, the speed is amazing and the airtime is fantastic. I will compare it to other hypers that I have ridden. DB>Apollos Chariot - Bigger, badder, faster, more fun. DB>Goliath(SFMM) - This one isn't even close. I am yet to get the hype behind Goliath. Great first drop followed by meh. It just didn't do much for me, whereas DB was just flat out fun. DB>Goliath(SFOG) - DB is just a better ride with better airtime and more exciting elements. DB>Titan - The extra helix does little to make this Goliath clone any closer in comparison to Diamondback DB>Behemoth- Tough one for me cause I like Behemoth but I just feel the layout is a little more exciting. DB>Silver Star - Close one here, but the new train style gives the edge to DB. DB=Nitro - Another close one here. I am a big fan of Nitro but the edge goes to DB cause of the trains, the setting, and the spashdown. It is so close for me that I had to consider those factors. I may consider Nitro just as good. Great pickup for KI!!!! Despite the crazy lines I had a great time.
