  1. I grew up about halfway between SFMM and KNF. Lived there until about 2002.
  2. I agree, I can't get enough of MF. It all depends on what you value in a coaster. I enjoy hi speeds, overbanks, and airtime hills(I do wish there were a few more pops of air like the one along the station). I don't think there is anything better than the ascension to the top of that hill:)
  3. Because hypers don't have inversions and aren't made of wood! And i know that hypers are supposed to be over 200ft, but except for the height, EGF and Goliath fit perfectly into the definition of a hyper coaster, plus Intamin itself calls it a "hyper coaster" so it mus be one! If you can't accept that then at least accept them to be a sort of "mini hyper", and we're counting them in this race Because otherwise we would have only 2 hypers to discuss about and thats just to sad... So yeah IMO EGF and Goliath are hypers, i don't expect you to share that opinion just accept the fact that they count as a (mini) hyper in this particular thread. Ow yeah and chill out dude you're taking this way to serious! Don't call me dude! a post was made before I made any ,somebody else stated that Egf was not a hyper, I agree and that is based purley on what most coaster enthusiasts would count as a a hyper the reason I got pissed is because typical Amercan style if they don't agree with what you are saying they change the rules. EGF is not a Hyper. Whay can't a hyper be made out of wood (bang you just shot your self in the foot) It has nothing to do with what it's made with. I bet when all you credit whores rode your first 200+ coaster you where excited about riding your first Hyper. I kinda know how owen feels, being an avid reader of these forums. More than any other coaster/amusement site, there are a few people that tend to change the rules based on their personal opinion. If you are going to add a EGF and Goliath, then you have to add some others. The original question which was 'what is the best hyper in Europe', was clearly altered to fit personal tastes. I have seen topics and threads changed many times to fit someones personal interest. Its unfortunate that it happens so much on here, but it does. With this being said, if you don't like it, ignore it. Many times I have to back off this site myself. TPR can be extremely biased and unfortunately there isn't much you can do. Its Robb's site and he can run it any way he likes. BTW- Owen, I hope you make a return and ignore people like Gizmo's negativity. He loves to insult people to try and make himself feel better for his shortcomings. If most people had made those comments to him, they would have been banned for that as well. Again, certain people can say those types of things on here. Don't sweat the small stuff!
  4. Im looking forward to visiting SFGADV again. It has been a few years and I hear they have cleaned that place up a bit. I will finally get to see for myself.
  5. Getting to Cedar Point for the first time since 1999. Boy that place is like coaster heaven. MF is the best intamin I have ever been on. I have to say that I enjoyed it even more than Superman at SFNE. Maverick and Dragster was almost as impressive. What a great time! Now that I live in Ohio, I will make sure to get there once a year. However, it sucks that I wont be able to make it to SFMM or Knotts as often since I don't live there anymore. I would say it was a good trade-off though.
  6. I signed up 10 days ago but I have watched this site for a long time. I like it and most people on it:) Anyway here is why I think KI might take the #2 title from MM. Invertigo < Deja vu Riddlers Revenge > KI has nothing to compare X2> backlot stunt coaster however: Vortex > Viper Firehawk > Tatsu Racers > Colossus Flight Deck > Ninja and very soon: Diamondback > Goliath not to mention the classic Beast and the numerous flats that MM lacks. Don't get me wrong I love MM, but I think KI is closing in on it. JMO btw- Sam Cassell was one hell of a basketball player.
  7. I am sorry if I offended anyone with my comment regarding the moon ride thread. To all the truly kind people on here, I am very sorry if I came off rude in any of my posts. ADMIN EDIT: Removed unecessary comments.
  8. ^ My question is no worse than the inquiry about rides on the moon. Maybe a little more legitimate.
  9. ^^ Who cares about half the ignorant comments you post on here. I just had a thought and wanted to here other people opinions. Your opinion is probably the one that I could care less about. Grow up.
  10. Personally, I think that Kings Island is going to leapfrog Magic Mountain as the number two park way behind Cedar Point. I am interested to hear some other thoughts on this. I imagine I am not in the minority on this one.
  11. Is this really a thread? My god, if there was ever a time to lock a thread, this would be it. Awful!
  12. The point is that everyone has different preferences and are entitled to their opinions and top ten lists. Who cares what they are. This thread was started by someone who was upset that a kid's book favored certain coasters that he didn't agree with. Heaven forbid a coaster that he likes was excluded from a list or book. I believe he was most upset that some people might think that SOB is better than El Toro! LOL Again, who cares! The general public could care less. More than anything they just like looking at the pictures, especially the kids. This whole thread was a waste from the start and I am suprised that Robb or one of the crew didn't lock or delete it from the beginning.
  13. That sentence makes me very happy It always amuses me to see the SFMM/CP fanboys fight over which collection of mediocre coasters is the better one... Robb, I totally agree with you. Some of these people get so defensive like they are defending themselves, not a park. Whacky!
  14. What did your son say about the list? What is his top ten? I would bet "30 bucks" that his list would be better than the one in the book. I would bet "30 euros" that Cameron would choose to have a good ice cream cone over riding half those coasters. That is only your opinion. I happen to like every ride on this list. Maybe a few wouldn't be in my top ten, but just because you don't like them doesn't mean his son wouldn't. Also, the person that started this thread doesn't want people to think that some rides are better than others because of the opinions stated in this book. That is no different than many of the posts and threads in this forum. I grew up in California and love the parks and rides there but I can clearly see a bias' against many other parks on or near the east coast. Most people on this site favor SFMM to parks such as Cedar Point and it is quite clear from what I have read in many threads. Many people turn to this site to learn about parks and coasters and many will get the idea that Cedar Point is no good and Magic Mountain is so great. Well, I have been to both many times and I can honestly say that I think SFMM pales in comparison to Cedar Point, but that is simply my opinion. If people dont agree with me, who cares. The same idea should be applied to books and articles. You don't have to agree with any of them. There is no need to whine because your favorite coaster is not on this list. I would love to ride any of those top ten coasters right now and I would certainly prefer it over eating an ice cream cone.
  15. ^ I personally love the travel channel specials. Am I wrong for that? Have you seen the special they had on the construction of Tatsu? It was awesome.
  16. This question is a little to broad. I would say that parks are bad in certain aspects. I would say the SFMM is terrible as far as Ride operations and crowd. Nobody can debate that they have great coasters (terrible flat rides) but the crowd that you encounter is a little rough. I last visited the park in July and I was so frustrated with line-jumpers and people that have total direguard for the rules. It was a little dirty also, but not as bad as the last time I had visited. I also have to admit that I think it is time for the Mountain to tear down and scrap Superman. It is totally obsolete and doesn't even seem like it goes that fast. It is an eyesore and generates the most unpleasant sound at any park! I wouldn't say that it is even close to being the worst park but in certain aspect it is near the top of the list. Just my opinion:)
  17. Yeah, I agree that this is actually a pretty cool book. I agree with most of the list, with the exception of Kingda Ka being ranked higher than Dragster or M. Force. I also agree that Son of Beast should not be on the list. Not all lists are perfect, not even Mitches poll. With that being said I would recommend this book for all coaster fans.
