SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
OldJJman replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh no! An ultimatum!!! When SFI, lets the deadline pass, THEN WHAT???? The city of New Orleans is just blowing smoke. Nothing will happen. The city can't sue, as they REFUSED the offer by SFI two years ago. Now they want they offer extended again?? Please. If they do, more than likely, it'll be thrown out of court. (Unless, of course, Danny Rogers is also an attorney!) JJ -
Am I the only person who is reading this as "We'll ONLY be open from 4-10pm weekdays, May 26 thru June 5, with normal operating hours on weekends." ?? A six hour operating schedule? Yeah. That'll turn a profit! It's not really a discount, as much as reduced admission price for a shorter operating schedule. JJ (Reading is fundamental!)

Everland Discussion Thread
OldJJman replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would seriously doubt it. Trust me (or anyone else who has ridden it) the videos just can't capture the awesomeness of how high and hard those cars are swinging! Even if they were able to, the ride would not be the same!! If you use Vampire at Chessington as an example of just changing the trains: Vampire was "Ok" at best using the Arrow trains, nothing special. With the newer Vekoma trains, it was much slower, and not nearly as much fun. IF it were to ever be rebuilt, I would hazard a guess that B&M could make a great terrain inverted on the existing layout and have a really good ride. But "great"? Tough call. Like Joey said: What he said is VERY true. The closest anything has come (and DEFINITELY NOT achieves) to Eagle Fortress, is the 8-10 seconds where Big Bad Wolf drops over the Rhine river. There was a rumor (I can't confirm or deny it. Maybe Elissa or Robb can) that after TPR went there in 2007 (and were blown away by it!!), when Mitch's poll came out, the Koreans saw how highly it was ranked, they decided NOT to scrap it THAT year. I will be sad if it is scrapped, no doubt. It's my #3 ranked coaster. JJ -
Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
OldJJman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Chris, that's pretty much the area that Wes was referring to. As you face ToT, the restrooms are to the left. Then there's a backstage area behind it, that you can see from the monorail. IIRC, those buildings looked like they were almost "temporary" buildings. So, maybe it could be built there from the ground up, all the way to the monorail line?? Dunno. But, like I said, *I* think that would be creating a huge traffic jam in that corner of the park. Time will tell. JJ -

I just did a conversion on the currency, and TSM will cost approx. 115 MILLION dollars?? Um... That sounds like it may be just a "tad" different than the ones we have in the states, ala "Pooh". As far as location, what Wes said makes sense, except for two things: Tower of Terror, and the Broadway Music Theater. That would create an extremely crowded corner of the park. The theater DOES attract a huge amount of people! What about in the place of the NY Deli, on the opposite (Med. Harbor) side of the theater? Of course that area could be a clusterf*** of people of epic proportions as well, unless the walkways were changed somewhat. I dunno - BUT, TSM with a price tag of 115 million??? It will probably worthy of TDS!! JJ -
Credit Question?
OldJJman replied to Speeddeamon128's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow. You forgot quite a bit: Time of day (morning, noon, evening, night) Paint scheme (original, themed, newest, restored) Weather (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, wind, rain, hail, now, tornado watch...) Ride op (male, female, hermaphrodite, cousin it) Name change (Superman/Bizarro) Parks' name changed (Geauga Lake, SFO, SFWoA, etc...) ETC... (too much criteria to adequately mention) In other words; EPIC FAIL! JJ (For the record, my last credit was "Spinning Coaster" at Cosmoworld. Credit #933.) -

Thanks for the comments everyone!! It's nice to know people still like the pics! It was ok. The saltiness of the butter, added with just a touch of the soy sauce could have been overkill, but it wasn't. It was worthy the try, but I'll think I'll stick with the: curry, honey, strawberry, and black pepper. JJ EDIT: The butter and soy sauce was in Tomorrowland, past Space Mountain and before the Autopia, next to the Tomorrowland Terrace. -

So. Now we've moved on over to the Shinigawa Prince hotel. Today we headed over to Tobu zoo. Not many pics from here as I took way too many last September. Park was dead. Please enjoy! Yay!! The Togo looping mouse "Crazy Mouse" was open!! I needed the credit!! Last train ride, and last photo of this TR. Looks as if the "Blue Man Group" has made their way to Japan. Thanks for looking! Next up: Popcorn stands at the TDR. Domo-Kun danglies! I believe that this is the tallest pagoda in the greater Tokyo area. On our last day, we headed out to Asakusa before our bus left for the airport. We went just for the culture and shopping, as we had to be back at the hotel before Hanayashiki opened. This is the temple at Asakusa. That night it started raining, (didn't let up for the whole next day) so we went to Sega Joypolis. The only pic I took from there was this one of the Tokyo Harbor Bridge. Hardly a pose, but even Christiana LOVES riding animals!! (Look for pics of Regina and Kawasemi in the panoramic shots at the end.) Yay! We get to go through the pussy! Loop-de-Loop!! Even Christiana looked excited! -

After getting worn out by TDS by mid afternoon, we decided to make the trek down to Cosmoworld. I needed 2 of the 3 credits anyway! Goodbye Cosmoworld! Next up: Tobu Zoo While we were there, we found the "Meat" capsule machine. I got 2 meat steers, a meat chicken and a meat fish. No meat cow. Fail. Fail. Fail. Yup. The "Family Banana Coaster". Yup. Sad and pathetic. I wasn't about to miss this credit again!! Perfect shot ruined by brown skid mark on the track. (The "skid mark" is actually the coaster. So much for the "perfect shot".) Getting ready to take the perfect shot! Yokohama just has a spectacular skyline. I believe the building on the left is the tallest in Japan at 80 stories. I'm guessing that we got there about 6:41pm. -

More... Hi Wes!! I miss you! Next up: That night at Cosmoworld! Try and take a picture of Christiana, and this is the typical result. The queue for Journey is quite interesting, but if you're just walking past, you miss all of it! Aquatopia. Most. Pointless. Ride. Ever. the American waterfront. Impressive, ain't it? We took the "Electric Railway" to get there. Time to go ride Tower of Terror again! -

More pics.. More pics soon... Raging Spirits. Smokin'! Is this park beautiful, or what?? We still see you Indy! Glimpses from the Arabian coast. Racing through the fog. Loop-de-Loop! Yes. Another 5 minute wait. Raging Spirits looks good even during the day! Yup. 5 minutes. (sigh) Looking good!! There it is! Time to go find Indy! -

Seriously, IMO Tokyo Disney Seas is not only the most beautiful park I've ever seen or been to, it's also one of the best (recurring) experiences I've ever had!! Please enjoy! Nobody inside either! More pics soon... Inside the queue. So does this one. Yes. That sign says it has a "Standby" wait of 5 minutes for Journey. 20,000 Leagues under the Sea just came up from rehab. Looking back toward the entrance. GREAT building! GREAT themeing! GREAT pre-show! LAME ride!! Some views around the Mediterranean Harbor. -

More pics... I never understood these! It's just a sign. What makes a sign a "Photo Spot"??? Next up: Tokyo Disney Seas It was looking pretty damn good too! Now there's a castle!! Here's Gadget for the coaster nerds. Other than Monsters Inc., longest lines were for popcorn!! Typical wait times on ALL other rides. Pooh didn't come up from rehab till the next day. Star Tours was open!! Sucks only slightly less in Japanese. Good for a photo-op. Mikey's car parked out front. The ride was a lot of fun!! You use the flashlights to trigger gags throughout the ride. It's nicely detailed, and a descent length!! The ride vehicles. Loading area. More posters... Video monitor tells us what to do. More posters... Reception desk. Inside roof detail. Castmember uniform. The Japanese LOVE taking, and having their picture taken. Banners hanging over the toy store. -

More pics... Next up are most of the posters you find in line. Mikey's requisition form. No un-"official" flashlights please. Roz telling you what's going on. There's a large screen telling you what's going on (only in Japanese) in the outdoor portion of the queue. Logo FastPass machine. All the FP machines had cast members working them for you. It's not quite Winnie-the-Pooh, but (IMO) it's still a damn good ride!! My first look at "Monsters Inc., Ride and Go Seek" This is the first time I've been here without the Halloween decorations!! Still looks nice!! We have arrived!! -
Working too much, and wanting to get away from everything, Christiana (herblackwings) and I went to Tokyo last week for some R-n-R. We did parts of 4 days at the Tokyo Disney Resort, and then also squeezed in Cosmoworld, Joypolis, and Asakusa. When I go on a trip, I average about 2000 pics a week. I only took about 250 on this trip, so it will be limited. The pics will focus on the 2 Disney parks, mostly "Monsters Inc: Ride and Go Seek" at Tokyo Disneyland and the awesomeness that is Tokyo Disney Seas. There will be some other random pics thrown in, like an almost complete listing of every popcorn cart in both parks!! I'll also have some low-res versions of panoramic stitches I did. But, before the pics - I must thank R&E for their hard work over the years to make a trip like this possible for us. They laid ALL the groundwork for looking up everything: flights, train schedules, hotels etc... Their work is invaluable and can be easily used by anyone. Don't ever forget to thank them for the awesome work that they do!! SO.. Thank you, Robb and Elissa! On to the pics! (They'll tell the story!) Please enjoy! Here we are in the bottom right hand corner, in a 2/3 full car. Awesome night!! TDL coming up next! Raging Spirits looked wonderful! "Fire makes ANYTHING better" - Robb Alvey We got to the park about 7:45pm. They're open till 10. This was the longest wait in the park. We rode Aquatopia, Indy (2x), Raging Spirits, Sinbad, Flounder, JTTCOTE (2x), 20,000 LUTS, and ended on ToT (2x). Damn good night!! Because the prices had dropped since I booked the room, they bumped us up to a top floor (12) room with a pretty descent view. So after we take a 10.5 hour flight, a 1 hour train and a 5 minute cab ride, we arrive at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel.

I'll wait until I ride it, but I seriously doubt it will be the best GCI. It would be quite a ride to knock off (in order for me) the OzCat, KR, or Troy!! JJ -
