  1. ^ LMFAO - so true - I'm keeping my figures crossed and hoping for the best. My observation and concern is the fact that Steel Hawg has a modified layout from the video(s). Those videos show smooth transitions, like the longer run off after the first drop. The reality of SH's transitions are what I want to see on those testing videos. Anyone have any idea when testing will begin? The trains do look sweet btw.
  2. WOW - great trip report while the videos were quite a pleasant surprise. Love the soundtrack (god's favorite band the mighty Metallica) - but I've got to ask - why in god's name was the only POV you took on Iron Dragon? LOL - thanks for sharing
  3. More pictures posted at the link below, which is also on Screamscape. Please post a testing video when it happens - can not wait to see this bad boy in action. http://awalkintheparkblog.blogspot.com/2008/06/ptr-indiana-beach.html
  4. ^Exactly, it's the history of the company that makes watching Steel Hawg so interesting. No doubt S&S has made some intense and unique rides. The question imo with Steel Hawg will be the ride experience. Can S&S deliver an extreme quality ride experience in a steel coaster? Hope so.
  5. ^ WOW - I am so jelous. Just watched a POV video of it on you tube - sweet ride for sure! I have never riden one despite going to PKD three (3) times to ride Hypersonic. Damn ride never worked, and given the reviews, I guess it was no loss, though I would have liked to have experience that launch. Maybe this will be my year. Hopefully we'll see a video of Steel Hawg soon.
  6. ^ LMFAO - I think that is the one thing we all fear (great graphic btw) - I for one can not wait to see a testing video - please share once they start.
  7. ^ I won't pass judgement either until I ride it and agree this could be one hell of a ride. With that said, ther is only so much IB can do so if the speed is not dead on, the transitions could be tough. I think we are all hoping for the best cause this ride has the potential to be one hell of a winner for S&S imo.
  8. ^ How can you argue - it could be amazing. I can't wait till it opens to see if it delivers - I for one hope it does.
  9. What a nice video - thanks for sharing. I haven't been to La Ronde in ages - do they still have their wooden coasters? It was great how you mixed still pictures with videos.
  10. Great trip report and pictures, thanks for sharing. It certainly will help me get motivated to get myself to my home park too. RoS is such a great ride, I just wish SFNE had more rides of that quality, which is why I end up going to CP more than SFNE (go figure).
  11. ^ All true. But ya know, if the design works, small parks lik Canobie Lake or even bigger parks could use this unique ride. Can you image it "super sized"?
  12. I can not wait to see this bad boy in action. It looks like something out of RCT - thank you for the update !! It is amazing how fast this got put together - please keep those updates coming - especially when they start testing - a video would be SWEET!
  13. I think this ride looks very innovative and exciting. I for one am waiting to see it in action, cause in my opinion, this could be next big thing - assuming it isn't too painful to ride.
  14. ^ Couldn't agree more - but my vote would go to Canobie Lake in NH (been too long since they've added any coaster).
  15. I can't wait to see this coaster in action and hear some TR. I think it has great potential if they can pull it off.
  16. ^ Do you have a link to the youtube video? I just searched and couldn't find it. Please share !!!
  17. They just announced on Fox News that the park WILL BE OPEN TODAY !!!
  18. Thank you for the video link Topthrillmaverick - perfect. I've seen more than a few posts saying the ride was smooth, yet the video surprised me. I'm not sure if it was the angle of the video or camera placement, but the ride seemed to go faster than I thought it would, and wasn't as smooth as I expected. Can anyone enlighten me? It looks like a great ride with the lift hill and drop, while I do see the resemblance to Maverick. Fast, intense, with quick transitions.
  19. ^^ Don't forget Mantis either (ARG) such a great ride when the trim is OFF
  20. ^ Well I see both sides. I wish the transitions were smoother, while the intensity of the ride is world class. Imo, Maverick is in a small class of coasters with the likes of RoS at SFNE.
  21. GREAT TR, Photos, and Dialogue - THANK YOU. Living in Boston it is going to be a month or two before I get to Hershey, but I will get there this summer (for sure). Does ANYONE have a video or POV? I've seen the one testing video, but have yet to see an real POV or off ride video with real people on the ride. If you have a video (post it on youtube) and PLEASE share the link - lol
  22. ^ Intamin made three (3) Superman Ride of Steel coasters for Six Flags. The model at SFNE is unique while the ones at Darian Lake and Mid America are mirror images of each other.
  23. Ok, I'll play 1) RoS at SFNE 2) Maverick 3) El Toro 4) MF 5) Nitro 6) Medusa 7) TTD 8) Raptor 9) Alpengiest 10) AC and Volcano (I know - its just FUN and different)
  24. I have to agree MF's lack of air is disapointing. The first drop rocks especially in the back, but then, it really depends on the weather. The majority of the time, the ride is like a glorified mine ride after the first drop - good speed and laterals, but not much else (unfortunately). When the weather cooperates, you can get some good strong floater air - but for me, it's not often enough, given my 100+ rides on MF. I still love the ride - but it doesn't compare to RoS at my home park of SFNE - now that's ejector air !!!
  25. ^^Scramp - you aren't proving or showing anyting either. What we have here is two different opinions by two different people. On a daily basis, Universal and Disney are more expensive than CP, you yourself said CF has ton's of trash cans yet you fault the park for the behavior of their patrons? It's only an opinion. I don't have a significant emotional attachment to my opinions as clearly many hear do. Enjoy SFGA or whatever your fav park is - that's the point - enjoy the park you like - as I will enjoy the one I like (it really is that simple imo).
