  1. I've replied to all the messages I got over the weekend, and so far today. My outbox has about 10 messages in it. I'm not sure how long it takes for them to go through. Keep 'em coming!
  2. If you live anywhere in the vicinity of Gadsden, Alabama then you know about these lights. The lights in Ballplay. Ballplay is a small community, not really famous for anything except their one restaurant (Beans and Greens, how Southern is that?), and these lights. These were built by an elderly man in his spare time. He started sometime in the mid-90s. He died in the early 2000s and his kids decided to carry on the tradition. Keep in mind while looking at these that everything moves. These are not just stationary lights. And most of them are big. Bigger than my six-foot tall husband kind of big. These are really amazing for a little country house in the middle of nowhere. And also, please forgive the poor quality. I was snapping shots with our little PlaySport video camera and the still picture features are limited, plus it was dark and everything was moving. The view as you approach. One of my favorite things, the Elephant. The tail swings back and forth, the head turns from side to side, and the trunk curls and uncurls. Huge plane. The propellers turn. Alabama football that spins. Small plane with a parachute that goes up and down. Dinosaur! His head and neck move from side to side, and his mouth opens and closes. Here's Danny beside the elephant to get an idea how big they are. Rawr. Giant snowman who turned from side to side. I'm not sure what this is. It looked like a jellyfish on top of a tree. But it spun. Carousel that spun and the horses moved up and down. It's theme park related! It's hard to distinguish, but this is a butterfly whose wings flapped. Again, kind of hard to distinguish because of all the lights around it, but it's a man being chased by a bull. The man runs and the bull's head moves up and down. This is a tree that spins and there are little wooden people inside playing instruments. A fish chasing a bug. The bug's legs move and the fish's fins move and its mouth opens and closes. Here's an elf that climbs up and down a rope. Ally was amazed. It doesn't just slide up and down, its arms and legs really move in a climbing motion. Some kind of egg-shaped thing that spins with more wooden people inside. Camel. His head moves back and forth and his mouth opens and closes. Auburn football. It spins. Sea turtle! Its mouth opens and closes and its legs swim. Mega Croc! Its head moves back and forth and its mouth opens and closes. Tree. The inside tree spins one way and the outside tree spins the opposite way. Helicopter. The propeller spins. Huge rainbow and Noah's Ark. This was the only thing that didn't move in some way. But the size of the rainbow was impressive on its own. It was at least 10-12 feet tall, if not taller. These are small planes that spin. Random spinning wheel. Santa on the roof of the house. He waved and turned from side to side, and the reindeer's legs moved. Ferris wheel that spins. A man riding a unicycle on a wire. This was very impressive to me, how he got this to balance perfectly and move back and forth at the same time. And finally, this ladder was Cammy's favorite thing. There was a little wooden person on it, and when the ladder spun, the person flipped all the way down to the bottom.
  3. It hasn't come through yet. Maybe something went wrong. Try sending it again, please. Also, I rarely ever get online on the weekends, so any addresses sent to me over the weekend will be confirmed on Monday.
  4. I've only ridden Jaws once, but it's iconic. Like someone else said, I always thought of Jaws and Back to the Future as synonymous with Universal. By the way, the one and only time I've been to Universal was in 1998, when Twister was brand new. But we didn't get to ride it because the opening was delayed due to the tornadoes that had swept through Florida a few weeks before opening date. We missed it by a week or so.
  5. I just replied to the messages I got since yesterday. You WILL get a response from me to confirm that I received your address. I'm so excited! Can't wait to see what everybody comes up with! And just an update: We're up to 17 people!
  6. Absolutely! I hope everyone will post them!
  7. Just got asked this, so I wanted to clarify: Your gift does not have to be park-related. You can absolutely send park-related stuff if you want, but since not everyone makes it to a park that often throughout the year (and even if they do they may not have something to give away), it's not a requirement to send park-related gifts. And again, if you want to post some stuff about you in here then by all means do so, but that doesn't guarantee that you're going to get something you like!
  8. In just a little over an hour we already have 10 people signed up! I can't imagine how big this could get by December 10. Keep 'em coming, everyone!
  9. You haven't sent me your address. Just a friendly reminder!
  10. Thanks for the edit and Rules, Elissa! Yay, I'm excited!
  11. PM me with your mailing addresses! I'm glad you guys are excited!
  12. I am fascinated/haunted by the Titanic. I guess it's kind of a morbid fascination, but I love reading all about it. I've done extensive research (for no reason whatsoever) on it. Danny and I saw a traveling version of this in Birmingham years ago. I was enthralled.
  13. I'll definitely take it on! It's not like I do any real work at my office anyway, lol, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here now. I can dole out addresses. It'll be fun!
  14. I've participated in these on other boards that I used to be a part of (not theme park related; this is now the only board I frequent anyway) and thought maybe you guys would be interested. How it works: Post in here that you want to participate, list some of your favorite things (raindrops on roses? whiskers on kittens?), then pm your mailing address to me. We leave it open to new participants for a week. Then I'll take all the addresses and pm one to each participant. You then buy a gift and mail it to your recipient. $15 or $20 spending limit (not including shipping). Anyone interested? You can go the straight route and buy the person something they like, or be totally random and buy whatever you want. Sound fun? EDIT - RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS!!! READ BELOW!!!! - Must post in this thread and PM your address and desire to participate to Brandy524 by December 10. - US Residents Only. Sorry International peeps, but I know how much international shipping costs and how long it can take, maybe we'll start this earlier next year if it goes well and we can match up people in the same country. - $20 minimum present value (Please don't give someone crap! We all know what $20 will get you!) - Brandy524 will PM you back by December 13 with the address and person you are gifting to. - USPS Priority Mail required. Get yourself a flat rate box and get your present mailed out by December 20. - If you flake on your gifting responsibility prepare to be banned from the site! This is the Holiday season dammit, don't agree to participate unless you're sure you'll participate!
  15. So if the magic seat is not as rough in it's current state, then it can be concluded that the magic seat will be phenomenal after the work is done. Even more reason to give it a try next year!
  16. There is clearly too much cute for one report! He is just precious!
  17. Just got all caught up! So jealous now. Neither Danny nor myself have ever been on a cruise. Looks like an amazing time was had by all. Great pictures and captions. Nice job!
  18. I've never ridden Cyclone because I've always been terrified of the accounts of how rough it is. Danny rode it at DSB and swore he'd never get on it again. But after this is done I just may have to try it!
  19. And the awesome coverage continues! Great job!
  20. There is a VERY strong chance that our small circle of theatre friends are going to put on Rocky Horror independently in October 2012, and if/when that happens then yours truly will be playing Janet. Already started a diet.
  21. Discovery Cove looks absolutely amazing. LOVE the dolphin pictures! Can't wait to see the rest of the cruise!
  22. Just caught up on all the coverage! Wow! Always look forward to seeing this stuff. Nice job!
