Oh my gosh, you suck! I am so jealous! My husband is on second shift next week which means we have to wait until Saturday to see it.

I had just noticed on the "Rides & Attractions" sign there were only seven things listed, but I wasn't sure what was what. Yeah, to me that's not worth that much money. Maybe a one-time thing just to say you've done it, but I just couldn't see making it a regular destination or anything. -

Do they really only have seven rides? That's not a lot for the price of admission. I've only ever been to USF, and that was ages ago, so I don't really remember how many rides they have. But it looks like y'all had fun anyway. -
I'm a little late in replying, but I've just finished reading all of this report. It was very entertaining. I haven't been a member here long, so I haven't attempted any report myself, I can only imagine how tiring it can be! It looks like you had a really great year though. You guys seem like y'all have so much fun. If you ever find yourself in Alabama I'd be glad to play hostess!

List the parks you have visited in 2008
Brandy524 replied to Groteslurf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sadly, none. *Sigh*. But I know for sure that I'm going to SFOG in September. If only I could talk my husband into another park sometime before then. But he sees no need to pay to go to another park when we're going to SFOG for free. He just doesn't understand. -
What is your local park?
Brandy524 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Technically my local park would be Alabama Adventure, but I've actually never been there. I've always gone to SFOG. Why does The South get quotation marks? Are we special? -
I love show tunes, and am, at this very moment, listening to Oklahoma in my office. I rock.

I think a lot of them were refitted for different shows. I know some were turned into Munch's Make Believe Band for Chuck E. Cheese's. I really don't remember a whole lot about Chuck E. Cheese, which is odd because we had one here in Gadsden, but Showbiz was about an hour away in Birmingham. However, I have so many vivid memories of Showbiz. I even have a 45, yes a record (how often do you see those now), of Rock-afire. I think were four or five different ones to collect, and they each had one song on each side. Mine has a Beatles Medley on one side and "Roastbeef Sandwich" on the other.

Found it! http://rockafire.dsfrobots.com/ I'm not sure what the different colored dots mean...maybe blue is fully operational and white is not? The buildings are businesses that still have them. And the big building in Florida is Aaron Fechter (the creator's) headquarters. You can click on the different places and there's a description of each setup and some pictures. I really want to see the one in Alabama. He has a full set up.

There's a guy in Alabama that has one at his home. I've been contemplating going to see it. He said we could come watch it anytime. I have lots of Showbiz merchandise that's probably worth something now; several t-shirts, etc. I have a Mitzi purse! I was always scared of Fatz though. I mean, a giant talking gorilla that plays the keyboard...eh, that's kind of scary for a little kid.

Favorite Dark Ride
Brandy524 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Monster Plantation at SFOG will always be my favorite. I was terrified of the "marsh" part of it when I was a kid. I've been hearing those rumors for years about re-theming it to Scooby-Doo, but I really doubt they'll do that. It's a popular, classic attraction. The line for it is usually always long. It would be a big mistake if they ever did re-theme. -
Oh my gosh, I loved Showbiz Pizza! I'm actually a member of the showbizpizza.com forum. That was my childhood! Believe it or not there are people that privately OWN and operate a Rock-afire Explosion, in their homes. On that website there's a search tool where you can find all the Rock-afires still operating today. I would love to see one again! It brings back so many memories.

I've seen this place on the Urban Exploration Resource site. Go here: http://www.uer.ca/locations/show.asp?locid=26092 It's a really creepy looking place. No wonder they think ghosts live there. If you haven't been to the UER site before, it's really interesting. Check the database in Japan; there are several abandoned amusement parks there.

I just had to throw these in, too. Just don't want y'all to think I'm a cool new person or anything. Yes, that's a storm trooper. Yes, that's Darth Vader. Yes, that's a jawa. Yes, we're dorks.

I just joined the boards today (see the thread introducing yourself). So I thought I'd go ahead and post a picture (besides the one in my avatar). I don't really have a lot of pictures of myself. I usually prefer to be behind the camera. Here's a crooked picture that my husband took. This is me with my babies.

I feel kind of silly doing the whole "Hi, my name is ......." thing. But here goes anyway. Hi, my name is Brandy. I'm from Gadsden, AL. You've probably never heard of it. (Unless you're from Alabama). I enjoy long walks on the beach, a good book....wait, that's not what we're talking about is it? My closest park is Alabama Adventure, but I've never even been to it. I've always gone to SFOG ever since I was a kid. I've only ever ridden those coasters (every year), and the ones at the Magic Kingdom (about 10 years ago, mind you). I would like to go to other parks, but I lack time and funds. So sad. I am married to a man who doesn't see the need to go to more than one park a year. (Or even to that one park more than once a year). I have two beautiful daughters (ages 2 1/2 and 1 1/2; no we did not plan to have them that close!). My youngest is a daredevil and likes to hit every slide on every playground we go to. My oldest, however, is a little bit of a scaredy cat. My job is kind of boring (legal secretary) so I end up on the internet a lot on weekdays. I love park pictures and that's how I found y'all!
