  2. Thanks for the report, and very nice pictures. I only live half an hour away from Clementon and I still have never gone there. Maybe it's just because you went on a gorgeous day, but the pictures definitely contradict a lot of the negative things I've heard about the park. I think I might just check it out next season. Hope you have better luck with Hell Cat next time
  3. Add another vote for Skyrush in the last row. Even after everything I had heard about the coaster, I was not expecting the first drop to be that powerful!

  5. I just finished writing a paper on the parbuckling operation; getting information on the progress in real time has really been cool. Yahoo News has reported this morning that there is now an operation underway to find the two bodies that were never recovered (link). I can't say whether or not I'm looking forward to that news or not. On another note, I think I will miss being able to see the Costa Concordia listing from Google Maps
  6. Was the Funtown Pier Ferris Wheel destroyed in the fire? Or was it removed some time between Sandy and the fire? Edit: After looking at the photo Chroniq posted, I'm going to guess the latter since there's no debris in its former spot. Still a horrific sight, and I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt.
  7. Happy Friday the 13th.
  8. And I thought I was having a crappy day, this is horrible! I just got back from class, so I haven't read any of the articles posted here yet. Does anyone know if anybody's been hurt? What a terrible day for Seaside Heights after everything they've done to recover from Sandy.
  9. No doubt in my mind, P.N.E. Playland's Coaster is the winner. The airtime on this coaster is incredible, and I couldn't believe how smooth it was for its age. After riding it, I described it as a more re-rideable version of the Coney Island Cyclone. It's my #4 favorite woody, and I feel it's one of the most underrated coasters out there. The runners up would be The Comet at the Great Escape (Schmeck coasters FTW!) and the Coney Island Cyclone of course.
  10. It's been a while since I've posted to this thread, so might as well do an update: Maine New Hampshire* Vermont Massachusetts* Connecticut* (Home state) Rhode Island* New York* Pennsylvania* (Currently Living) New Jersey* Delaware Maryland* District of Columbia West Virginia (my parents swear I've been there, though I have zero recollection) Virginia* North Carolina* South Carolina* Tennessee* Georgia* Florida* Ohio* Michigan** Illinois Washington California* Alaska Hawaii Not counting D.C., that's 25 states. Half way to visiting them all. *I've ridden a roller coaster in this state **Stopped on a layover, never left the airport

  12. Ever since Freshman year of college, I've had to find a new apartment every year thanks to a roommate either graduating, or wanting to find a new apartment. After the third time I had to move out, I decided to find an apartment where tenants each pay for just a bedroom (plus utilities) and have a shared kitchen; that way, if somebody were to move out, I don't have to rush to find a new roommate before I'm slapped with the phenomenally increased rent fee. I found a place with three bedrooms and a decent price, and I moved in last month. Upon moving in, I discovered that one of the other bedrooms was unoccupied, and the guy I was currently living with was moving out by the end of the first week of the semester. So now, after all the roommate problems I've had to go through, I now have none. While it is a bit more lonely, at least nobody's drunk friends can raid through my food.
  13. Sorry Kings Island, but these were the two that came to mind: 1. Whatever happened to Tomb Raider/The Crypt. It was a marvel of special effects and thrills unmatched by anything remotely near it. So much money was invested into the ride, all for it to fall from grace after losing the Paramount license. I still can't believe that a flat ride that received so much attention did not even make it to ten years. 2. Son of Beast. I think most of the fault lies on RCCA for biting off WAY more than they could chew, but boy did SOB turn into a burden for Kings Island in record time.
  14. This has probably been my best year ever for amusement parks, and the odd thing is that this is probably the first year of my entire life that I have not visited my (seasonal) home park Six Flags New England, though opting for the Cedar Fair Platinum Pass over a Six Flags pass is the likely culprit. Anyway: Dorney Park (likely making another visit during Haunt) Cedar Point (x2) Kings Island Waldameer Canada's Wonderland (x2) P.N.E. Playland Atlantic Beach Park Central Park Fun-Land Carowinds (x2) Dollywood Kings Dominion Bold denotes first time visiting park.
  15. To update my list: 2011: Various attractions at Legoland Florida 2012: Skyrush - Hersheypark Sky Screamer - SFGAdv 2013: Gatekeeper - Cedar Point Music Express - Waldameer FlyOver Canada
  16. One week ago, I was starting classes, getting to know the course itinerary, and my initial thoughts were, "This is going to be one fun semester." Cut to present day, my thoughts are currently, "Holy BALLS! Is it too late to change my major? Where's the reset button for 'life'?"
