  1. They spent a lot of money rebuilding the pier especially to include this ride. It is not out of line with Jersey Shore park prices. I think it's worth double the price of a Wild Mouse. And that's why smart locals will take advantage of the Annual Easter Sale, 54 cents per ticket for tickets that never expire. You the man!! Nice find, I'll be getting this for sure! Mike - They have a similar Easter sale at Playland Castaway Cove, also.
  2. True, but so does every other business. Every company just approaches it differently. Closing the path from KK to ET funnels guests through the Boardwalk, where they could be enticed to spend money. How I still think the reason for the Old Country path is closed is because of aesthetics, the surroundings look abandoned
  3. http://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/24/blackstone-sells-stake-in-seaworld-to-chinas-zhonghong-zhuoye.html Takeaways Blackstone is selling their 21 percent stake in SEAS and Zhongzang Zhuoye gains two seats on the board of directors (which has been increased from 9 -11). Zhongzang Zhuoye is prohibited from owning more than 24.9% of SEAS. Zhongzang Group would operate any future parks (if added) in China, Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong with SeaWorld advising. Blackstone sells stake in SeaWorld to China's Zhonghong Zhuoye Friday, 24 Mar 2017 | 9:03 AM ET Reuters China-based Zhonghong Zhuoye Group will buy Blackstone Group's 21 percent stake in SeaWorld Entertainment, the embattled U.S.-based marine park operator said on Friday. SeaWorld said Zhonghong Group would buy the stake for $23 per share, a premium of nearly 33 percent to the stock's close on Thursday. Zhonghong Group — a diversified holding company for investments in real estate, leisure and tourism — will pay about $429 million for the stake, according to Reuters calculations. Blackstone will no longer have any interests or board seats at SeaWorld after the deal closes in the second quarter of 2017. Private equity firm Blackstone, which bought SeaWorld in 2009 for $2.3 billion, has been reducing its stake in the company since taking it public in 2013. SeaWorld faced criticism after the release of the 2013 documentary "Blackfish", which depicted the captivity and public exhibition of killer whales as inherently cruel. The company said last year it would stop breeding killer whales in captivity. The company, which has reported falling revenue for the last three years and a loss last year, suspended dividend payments last year. As part of the deal, SeaWorld will provide advisory services and support for developing theme parks, water parks and family entertainment centers in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, which would be operated by Zhonghong Holding, an affiliate of Zhonghong Group. SeaWorld will also increase the size of its board to 11, including two executives from Zhonghong Group. The agreement also contains restrictions on Zhonghong Group's ability to sell its interest in SeaWorld for a period of two years or acquire more than 24.9 percent of its outstanding shares.
  4. What are the scheduled opening dates for each coaster? When does each park open for the year?
  5. I still don't understand why that path is not opened up! Its simple really. There is nothing for you to buy along that path. Sure, they could add a few booths/kiosks but why bother when they can make you walk through the boardwalk with its endless plethora of mediocre food and crappy games? This is likely the same reason they aren't opening the Old Country path when JLBFM opens - they'll send us around through Movietown since there is stuff to buy there. When stuff Six Flags does doesn't make sense, just follow the money. And in regard to that path - if Safari Discoveries is open (it usually is during the day) use that to cut between PDC/Golden Kingdom. You get to look at some fun animals on the way. Any thoughts on when they will close the path from El Toro to Bizarro or the path that wraps along the lake from the teacups to The Joker.
  6. and it looks like a typical Chinese inner city park.
  7. I can't tell if this is a serious question, so I will treat it as such. My last time there was about 20 years ago when I was 11. I remember enjoying the park- but two days? I was worried a full day would be too much! Some people on this site would spend 10 days at Knoebels, fell free to ignore their jingoism.
  8. 1) Looks like a solid plan. Of course it is not possible to hit every park along the way, and the only major one "along the way" that you could add would be Kennywood, but I don't see how you do that with completely reworking the schedule and drooping another park. I would change a thing. 2) I love your excel template, I may need to steal the design. My spreadsheets contain all the same info but I never laid it out to visibly reflect all 24 hours 3) Don't forget that Kentucky Kingdom has discount tickets for out-of-state residents, but the details are not on their website yet. 4) It appears you are using the preview plan at Hershey which is a great deal. As Bill said be flexible, don't be afraid to leave Dorney early, as soon as it is complete to get the Hershey. Even if you get to Hershey before the preview plans starts you can get a head start and visit Chocolate World and ride that dark ride. Those last few hours before Hershey closes are less crowded than midday and you can knock out the low capacity coasters and get a feel for the park layout. Also, remember that your parking receipt from preview night can be used the next morning for free parking.
  9. I remember an acrobatic show about 5-6 summers ago.
  10. I found this interesting and wish John the best. I spoke with him on multiple occassions covering media events at SFGAdv. I didn't realize Al Weber had passed away in November. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apex-announces-ceo-200500844.html ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Apex Parks Group today announced the appointment of John Fitzgerald as Chief Executive Officer of the company. 12. Thanks, but it defeats our goal of having a database of user generated content.
  13. Correct me if I'm mistaken, I thought green and purple were the signature colors of The Joker character.
  14. Because they didn't think anyone would care.
  15. FYI - the first car was put on the track yesterday
  16. There is a big difference between relocating rides and rotating rides. Rotating a ride means there was an intent from the beginning to move the ride at a later date.
  17. See, a few years ago, it was at least tolerable. Unfortunately, Mind Eraser is the single worst kind of attraction that they could put this on - a rough-and-tumble Vekoma suspended looping coaster. When it comes to virtual reality, even the slightest bit of "off" motion, such as the constant jostling back and forth in an SLC's seat, could cause sickness. Honestly, as sacrilegious as this sounds, maybe they would have been better off putting it on Wicked Cyclone. Or as a new VR program for Superman. No it would be best served on The Great Chase
  18. In its last few years, it seemed like DT got its longest lines when the park was packed AND the weather was hot (the queue being air conditioned helped) The poor capacity of the ride also contributed to the longer lines
  19. They literally said, "only the lowest form of life will care about the details. Let's just get the concept across to the masses".
  20. After reading two previous personal Magnum stories, I'll share mine. During the summer of 1989, I was working in NYC and the NY Times ran an article about roller coasters featuring Magnum XL-200. At the time my girlfriend was intern for the summer at Columbia University and looking into Graduate School opportunities. She really wanted to go to Bowling Green which had a great reputation for her field, but didn't feel comfortable applying without visiting first. She also didn't have the funds to fly to Ohio and didn't want to drive by herself. I "agreed" to drive with her if she agreed to visit Cedar Point. I showed her the article I had saved and she thought it was a great idea. We also agreed to visit a mutual friend in Cincinnati on the trip and thus my first road trip was born visiting both Cedar Point and Kings Island. I had always heard good things about the Beast back in those days. Cedar Point was not nearly the coaster mecca that it is today but there was still that tingly feeling when first seeing the park skyline and the causeway. Those rides on Magnum were incredible. It was easily the best coaster in the park and to that point in my life the best steel coaster. It wasn't until my fourth trip to the park (after Millennium Force was built) that I felt there was a steel coaster comparable to Magnum, but I still love those movements of airtime, the turn around and the tunnel on Magnum. For years, when rating coasters I was probably guilty of over rating Magnum, but that coaster means so much in getting me hooked on coasters.
  21. Now that the 2017 season is upon us, i have updated the list with new 2017 rides. If anyone has an opportunity to review their home park and provide feedback we can keep The Park Index as accurate as possible, I can't do it all myself. Please submit only your own photos. Do not take them from another person or website. You can post your photos of any size in this thread or in your Trip Reports Or you can use the submission tool in the Park Index, but in that case please resize your photos to 800x600 or smaller before submitting, otherwise they are difficult for me to review and place in the Park Index. 22. It should be pretty clear that information about this coaster is very limited right now What would compel you to compare this coaster to Cobra's Curse when we don't know much yet?
  23. ^I hope so. But if the park confirmed this with an online fan group, they should have immediately corrected it on their website. Great Adventure Online is saying that the website has not been updated since HiTP, but El Toro is the only coaster that says closed for the season. For reference KK and K:DoD, Runaway Mine Train don't show closed for the season. Log Flume and Justice League show not open yet. The way it appears in Six Flags current website is just odd.
  24. You display the attitude of an entitled and ungrateful enthusiast.
