^thanks for the update When I stopped by at 8PM on Thursday night construction was in full swing. Not sure if they are working 16 hours a day or around the clock but workers weren't just sitting around at night. It looked like the Coney Tower, WaveSwinger and the Tea Cups were also complete on Thursday night. As the article below states, the owners plan to open the park next weekend, even if all the rides are not complete. 10 of 19 rides are completed. 8 of the 9 remaining rides are on site. Article from 5/21, owners say park will open on time. Never mind all the construction cranes and mud, Luna Park operators say that they will be ready to welcome Coney Island thrill seekers to the amusement park starting at 11 am on Saturday, May 29 as planned. “As long as the weather assists us, we’re going to make it happen,” Central Amusement International CEO Valerio Ferrari said this week after giving the media a preview tour. Ten of the 19 new rides made by Italian ride manufacturer Zamperla have already been fully assembled. Only one — described as a “small family ride” — has yet to arrive. Work crews are expected to begin paving the three-acre site this weekend. A lot more than just a few summer rides is at stake. Ferrari’s outfit — an offshoot of Italian ride manufacture Zamperla — is building an interim amusement park that may occupy the former Astroland site for up to 10 years — though city officials say it will give way to a permanent new theme park, plus hotels and other amusements years earlier. Luna Park’s more aggressive rides will be located closer to the main entrance on Surf Avenue, leaving tamer variants near the Boardwalk — similar to the layout of Luna Park’s predecessor, Astroland Amusement Park. When it’s finally installed, the 25-kilowatt “Luna Park” sign welcoming patrons to Coney Island’s newest amusement park will rise 60 feet over Surf Avenue. Luna Park operators plan to briefly shut down the amusement park for three days immediately following the Memorial Day holiday in order to finish assembling all of its pieces. The amusement park as envisioned — with all its rides, games and food services — isn’t expected to be fully operational until about mid-June.

If you want a NASCAR themed coaster it has to be fast and intense. -
Thanks Martin - I added "No Fun City" to the Park Index. How much was admission about $25-$30? Don't make me look it up.

Actually, i:305 never took that record from Millie as it is a little bit shorter. And anyways, Kinda Krap and Dragsters second halfs are both gravity driven and go much faster. But alas, I'm very disappointed in not being able to ride this beast as intended. I'm pretty sure it is still a great ride though. Fastest gravity-driven coaster, as in GRAVITY... from falling. As in has a lift hill take it up to its highest point, not a launch. Also, it held the record as it reached 94 mph while Millennium Force only reached 93. Though Millennium Force is 310 feet tall, both Intimidator 305 and Millennium Force have 300 foot drops. The launch drives KK and TTD trains up the hill, gravity pulls the trains down the hill. That's how gravity works! -

You think adding one thrill ride will attract thrill seekers? Or will thrill seeker want another big coaster built in 2014 and then another in 2016 and then another in 2018 to keep coming back? If there's one thing everyone should realize about this hobby it is that thrill seekers are never satisfied and always want more. Adding a B&M will attract thrill seekers one time to the park, a dark ride that is consistent with all the other rides already at the park keeps the current clientele (families who spend more money) happy and returning. Thrill seekers are more likely to be day trippers, while family are more likely to stay at the hotel creating even more revenue for Eftleing outside of just the admission price. -

I have to admit, I liked that I got to experience a grey out. Quite frankly, for years I never had any idea what people had been experiencing when they referenced greying out. As far as why they didn't build it shorter. Sometimes you can't fully predict the effects of a ride on a human body. Also the i305 name would not fit if the coaster was only 290 feet tall. -

Do you really think a B&M is better for the patrons of Efteling than a well done dark ride? I think it would look very out of place, no matter how well it is themed. -

Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, in the past many people have submitted photos that are too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.) High quality photos, please (not blurry, distorted or out of focus). Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added. We are also not adding FECs (Family Entertainment Centers) to the Park Index. And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index. Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas. (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one. Photo in your PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) for it to be included in the Park Index, that way we know a Red X will never appear. Lastly, if you have photos of a non-kiddie ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also. -

Yeah to me that would've been the better idea rather than wrecking this ride. I refuse to vote trimmed dropped rides high in coaster polls. I feel like I'm being cheated. Just because it sounds like a better idea, that doesn't mean it would have solved the problems. As I'm not a expert I leave it to the engineers to find the best solution to these types of problems. -

^thank you Benny, I was going to post something similar last night. -
Unfortunately for you all, I got to the park too late tonight and it was too dark for any good pictures. Lots more cranes on site. Work was being done erecting girders for the main entrance tonight. Quite a few of the rides looked complete. It appeared that vertical construction has started on the family coaster. I'm going to try to stop by after my softball game next Tuesday before the park opens. The good news is that I had a 2 for 1 coupon for Nathan's hot dogs. The coupons appear on the wrapper for fundraising chocolate bars that the daughter of my best friend is selling. I'll have to buy another candy bar this weekend.

Dale Earnhardt would be very disappointed. Can't they just add restrictor plates? -
Depending on what phone you use, when you go into the camera there should be an option to pick what size your pictures will come out as (800x600 is the largest and I know 640x480 is another option for mine). Once you email them to yourself or put them on Facebook/Twitter they should come out that size. The camera phone is set to capture the image as 640x480 so I don't know what I did wrong, but like I said I'm going to try to swing by tomorrow night with a camera that I practically know how to use.

To support nyanko's expert comments, below is a positive article (from an animal activist website) about a rescued sea lion now living/performing at SFDK www.care2.com/causes/animal-welfare/blog/sea-lion-shot-by-fisherman-sent-to-theme-park/ Here's a dilemma to consider. What do you do with an injured sea lion that cannot return to his home in the ocean? Is it O.K. to send him to live and "work" at an amusement park? That's what has a happened to a California sea lion named Sgt. Nevis, who was rescued last December with gunshot wounds to his face. Last week he moved to his new home at the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park in Vallejo, CA. The 650-pound teenage sea lion will become part of the Seal Cove exhibit where he will live and perform alongside several other sea lions and a few harbor seals. Sgt. Nevis will make his public debut on Friday. But in light of the recent death of an animal trainer at Orlando's Sea World by an Orca whale, maybe this wasn’t the wisest placement for a sea lion that has only been in captivity for six months. Sgt. Nevis, who is named after the Animal Services officer who helped save him, was first spotted in the Sacramento River in December. He eluded rescuers for several weeks, but was finally captured when members of the Marin Marine Mammal Center sneaked up and netted him. The 358-pound sea lion was emaciated and in very bad shape with two deep gunshot wounds above his nose. He has been nursed back to health for the past six months in the hospital at the Center. Sgt. Nevis was shot by a fisherman named Larry Allen Legans after he tried to steal fish from Legans' boat. Jim Oswald from the Marin Marine Mammal Center noted that Sgt. Nevis was one of 18 sea lions shot by fisherman in 2009. Legans will have his first hearing later this month on May 21. The shooting left the sea lion with permanent damage to his nasal passages. This limits his ability to dive underwater to hunt for food. The situation made it impossible for Sgt. Nevis to return to the ocean. "Unfortunately for him he wasn't well enough to be able to return to the wild, in other words to have a really productive life out in the ocean, which is ultimately our goal. But here at Six Flags, we feel very confident that he will be able to thrive and have a productive life," said Oswald. The theme park has welcomed Sgt. Nevis with open arms and said he is adjusting well. They even let him spend time getting to know two of the female sea lions at the exhibit before moving in. "Considering what he has gone through, he's very resilient," stated Michael Muraco, the animal care director at Six Flags. Time will tell if this new public home will be a thriving environment for Sgt. Nevis. Six Flags theme parks are entertainment facilities and not rehabilitation centers. But Sgt. Nevis has already been seen curling up next to his female companions at night and that is a good sign.

I also really liked the episode, but I still can't believe it ends on Sunday night.

But it wouldn't be a coaster enthusiast gathering without some complaining. Our brethren are a fickle group. But that doesn't give anyone the right to lash out at people who don't control the situation. As Kara said, no one broke the trains purposely to lessen the event. -
