So last weekend I had to go down to Nashville to pick up my brother. I was able to seek in a 5 hour trip to kentucky kingdom as well. It's been a while since I have been to this park. The last time I was here, it was a six flags branded park. This is also the first time in years that I went to a park solo. I was able to score about 12 rides on storm chaser, and 3 on lightning. Both coasters seem to have a better ride near the back of the train. T3, has some new rolling stock. Even without headbanging, the train shuffled back and forth so violently that it made for a crappy ride. Ironically, this ride had the longest line in the park. Thunder run gave a decent ride, but nothing too exciting. The only negatives I took away from this park were these 5 things... 1. The food variety was lackluster and overpriced. 2. The angry birds movie was horrid 3. Weird layout 4. The inconsistent ride rules. I rode lightning coaster twice with my glasses on, and the 3rd time they would not let me. Even with straps on them. 5. Certain rides do not open till 3. The park closed at 7. Beyond all of that, I had a great time even though I was flying solo. The only weird moment was when I went to ride roller skater by myself. It felt like I had eyes on me the whole time...lol. One if the highlights of my trip was being able to sleep in a wigwam. This is truly a piece of Americana. There used to be several locations, now there are only 2 or 3 left. This place is located in cave city ky, just over an hour west of the park. I highly recommend checking this place out. It's not the Ritz, but it is very unique. It was built in the 30's, and most of the furniture is original ad well. Onto the pictures... This park was confusing to find. Got a he'll of a deal. $20 for an out of state ticket, and unlimited drinks. Nice crowd waiting to enter. Glad that most of them were going to the water park. That made for short lines for me all day. Beautiful day and light crowds. First ride of the day. I live this type of ride. Next up was lightning run. It seems this park has a thing for weather related names for the rides. Test seats This ride runs 2 trains This coaster has a twisted layout Lift hill If you look close enough, you can see remenants of greesed lightning. Next up was thunder run. I found it hilarious, that holiday world slapped a billboard up right next to storm chaser. You can see it thru the structure Great ride...i couldn't get enough With such a great ride, I couldn't believe how empty the midway was around it. Sigh....so much for the star flyer I remember the dragster from the half a dozen flags days. So....there was this thing. It's another slc coaster The new restraint set up. The longest line in the park Nice idea, poor example of a ride. Rumor is that this will be gone soon. Looks like a fun ride. I skipped it because I did not want to get soaked. Last coaster to hit. Station Not bad for a kids ride. Lay of the land A few shots of random rides They have a beautiful cauresel This looks like fun, but did not open till 3 Flying shoe ride. The smoking area has some theaming left from the quake ride. The water park looked like fun, and we'll themed. Free sunscreen is a plus Back in the ride park, I did this thing. Pre show area So...you sit in these seats, and they shake you. That's about it. The cars that bump The park has some decent themed areas. The bridge connects the two halfs of the park. A friend drove by the park last week, and there was zero signs of anything being done. Looked just like it did on closing day last year.

Wild adventures just made it official as well.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it looks like Disney is starting to close attractions and events due to the hurricane. This is the list as of today. I'm sure it will grow in the next day or so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Disney only closed 5 tines since it opens?

Costco sells a nice 2 pack of backup power supply packs for around $20. We use them all the time, and they are so small that they are easy to carry around.

The phone chargers are FREE, but you have to sit there and wait.

Ok...time for our bonus park.....cedarpoint. After getting home from our trip, we decided that 14 parks wasn't enough so we headed to cedar point. At this point, the Halloween props were popping up like weeds in my back yard. We were lucky enough to go durring the last week that they are durring week days, and that ment short lines! We waited about 10 min for dragster. I will have some final thoughts on the trip coming soon, but untill then here are some cp pictures. America's rollercoast! It looks like cedarpoint is getting a new coaster next year. Halloween attractions are going up. Here is corn stalkers being set up. They use the thunder canyon waterway for the attraction. Looks like the infirmary is being replaced by a freak show themed haunt. Mean streak 2.0 is coming along nicely. I would imagine with the park going to limited hours, we will see more lift hill progress soon. A short walk over to steel vengeance. Let's take a look... A peek inside the town hall museum shows a look at what mean streak used to look like. You can also check out a model of white water landing. Oops...upside down They also have a cool model of the blue streak. The statue that used to be by the Marisa gate, has found it's way here. Need to charge your phone? Look no further than town hall. Back outside, they have set up these freak show booths. Let's take a look at a few So the wife and kids decided to take a spin on the antique car ride, and ran out of gas and had to be evacuated. Found this hanging in the first aid station. Over at the mine ride, they keep hinting at the shed. I imagine that they will mystic timbers the shed of mine ride durring halloweekends Wonder what it will be? The lines were great for power riding the coasters. Yes...im not sure what the hold up is for them adding a new attraction, but it's definitely needed. I'm afraid that cedar fair may geauga lake this park. Anyways, here are the rest of the Michigan's adventure pictures. The petting farm seemed to be really popular. This is the crown jewel of the park. Always Worth the wait. Station shot. Ok..so then this happens. Tilt a whirl have been around for 70 years. Just within the past few years, cedar fair has stated putting seat belt latches on the bar for some reason. This picture is of the belt latches. What's the point of this? If for some reason I wanted to open the bar, I would have no issue doing so. Pointless... The dragon of the sea. Our last coaster of the day was thunderhawk. This is probably the best running vekoma slc coaster i have been on. Station shot It was weird riding this at night. One last look. Alright....onto Michigan's adventure we go! This was our first visit to the park in 3 years. Besides timbers, we have not really had much of a reason to drive over 3 hours to visit as there has been a lack of anything new at the park. This was the busiest we have ever seen the park. Most coasters had full lines, and all the spin and puke had decent lines as well. It stayed steady buisy during our entire visit that day. Timbers was running great, and thunderhawk was actually a very good slc coaster. There are a few gripes about this park however.... First off, the food offerings are very lackluster. It's basicly chicken strips, burgers, pizza, and hot dogs. There is not beyond that. Second, why has there been no new additions of note to this park? They are in dire need of some new rides and expansion to complete the loop of the park. After waiting in ride lines talking to and listening to people talk, the consensus is that they are in need of more rides. A couple I was talking to, lives 20 miles from the park but drives the 2 hour drive to six flags several times per year because of the lack of rides. Even though though they live near the park, they only go once a year because of the lack of rides. I asked an employee if there were any plans on adding new rides, and he said "no" because they don't have the room and they can't expand much because of the sandy ground in the area....not sure there is any truth to that, but that's what I was told. The positive things I noticed... First was the heavy crowds. This was the most people I have ever seen at the park before, and the midways were packed. It was so buisy, people were lined up to buy fsst lane bands. Second was the clenleness of the park. The park was sparkling clean. The trees and landscaping were looking good as well. Onto some pictures... Here we are! As soon as you pull on, shivering timbers dominates the skyline. The parking lot was packed! While walking into the park, you walk right by the mad mouse coaster. Long lines at the gate welcomed us. These are new since our last visit. It was so buisy, people were buying fast lane bands. Very buisy midways. Full lines, and a corkscrew. The lay of the land. Having fun on the cauresel. Log flume was a popular ride. Log flume splash and giant wheel. Time for lunch at coasters dinner. Typically, the coasters restaurants have the same pictures of mean streak and blue streak, but this location has shivering timbers. The big dipper coaster doing it's thing. Station shot $3 for 3 min? So it looks like this hurricane will impact six flags(and seaworld). Weather channel says lots of flooding in the area, and power outages. Have not seen an update from either park, so I assume they are in a standby mode to see what this storm does.

We were there a week ago today.

I don't buy this argument when Kings Island is closer to Cedar Point than Michigan's Adventure is and they regularly invest in that park.

We hit Michigan's adventure a few weeks back, and the ride side was PACKED! This was the first time I have seen this in a while. The lines for all the major coasters were full. We got to talking to some people at the park, and the consensus is that they need more dry rides. One of the couple's we were talking to lived 20 miles from the park, and only went once a year because of the lack of attractions. They go to six flags in Chicago instead when they want a coaster fix. Even though it's 2 hours from them. Look at the crowds Even the lines were full. And this was at around 2pm.

Our next stop was Kokomos fec in Saganaw Michigan. This place is home to the serpent coaster that once graced Lasordsville park in Ohio. The serpent is a fun little coaster that may not have many big drips, but makes up for it with the speed and smoothness. Kokomos also has a mini golf course, batting cages, laser tag, arcade, bumper boats, snack bar, and driving range. Onto the pictures.
