Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Carowinds had intimidator, and built fury. Canada's wonderland had behemoth, but built Leviathan. Both examples work out well for the parks. The issue that I see with a giga at kings island however, is the park being so close to cedarpoint. Does cedar fair want the competition so close to it's crown jewel park(CP)? -

Yep....blue. I did not get a chance to try it, but it's a spin on the parks popular blue ice cream I assume. -

^ They have 2 trains operating. If there was one negative thing, it was the lack of rides. We overheard several comments about wanting more rides/coasters open. I'm thinking that this year is a trial run for the park, and they may add more rides if they get the attendance. The park did an amazing job with all the lights and decor. The fountain skating rink was very popular, and so were all the food offerings. It's crazy that they got all of this done in 2 weeks. Some of the notable food offerings.... Cinniman bread Blue hot chocolate Ham and Turkey dinners Funnel cakes with holiday toppings Build your own Mac and cheese Putain(sp) this was a bit disappointing. Instaed of cheese curds, they used a pinch of shredded mozzarella cheese. You can decorate your own cookies as well. At first we were not going to do this because of the $14 price tag, but the price included 3 large cookies and all the decor you can put on them. The kids really enjoyed this. The shows were top notch as well. We did not have high hopes for the shows going in, but we were blown away at how well they were done. The only thing with the shows is that it's hard to time the shows as they all start at 30 past the hour. All in all, we had a great time and would highly recommend checking it out. -
I'm not sure why more parks don't implement the Velcro or zipped pouches in the seating area like Disney does. Six flags has solved the souvenir cup problem by putting cup racks in the rides station. Not only is this a convenance for park guests, but it also helps the parks sales as well. I see a LOT more souvenir cups at six flags, than at cedar fair parks. Just little things that make a guests day that much better. Getting nickle and dimed for everything is a bummer after spending $50 to get in, $20 to park, and $15 for a hot dog. In my opinion, the locker situation with souvenir cups is nothing more than a money grab. The exception to this is duel station coasters. Even then, if your guests have to use a locker why not do a timed locker at no cost? Universal does( or did when I was there last) this. They use your fingerpaint. Instead of charging people extra once in the park, why not raise the ticket price by $1, and include lockers? Just a thought.

We were REALLY impressed with the holiday in the park event. It exceeded all of our expectations. Here are just a couple of shots I took. -
