  1. Looking forward to riding this crazy contraption, but does anyone else think this ride is going to be a maintenance nightmare? Lots of moving parts.
  2. Fyi.... The train has been running for a few days now. Not sure if it's the same engine, but at least the ride is up again.
  3. I imagine that the insurance company would want to survey the damage first.
  4. Just a heads up to anyone heading to the park today.....
  5. Stupid question, but did they extend the mean streak q line, or are the just using what was already there?
  6. How so? The SV crew turns trains around quickly (dispatches around 90 seconds), while some coasters at Six Flags parks have 10 minute dispatches Oh come on. I've never seen a 10 minute dispatch at any Six Flags park, not even La Ronde (though it wasn't for lack of effort). I can vouch for 10 minute dispatches at Six Flags parks. Granted it's ever only been twice. But it still happened. Once was at Six Flags St. Louis on Ninja with that stupid VR crap. The second one was at Six Flags America on Apocalypse. The ride operators were just standing around chit-chatting, and completely ignoring the ride. Once they finally got around to doing their job checking/clearing the train would take them a good 4-5 minutes. (Not exaggerating) The only reason I knew these two dispatches were 10+ minutes was because I ended up getting slightly annoyed and timed it just to see how badly they were sucking. Also, I'm going to need Cedar Point to get camera 3 off of SV! I've wasted half my day watching that thing. So you are pointing out that a vr ride( notoriously known for slow operations) and a standup coaster(slow loading process) had slow operations? I've ran into crews playing on there cell phones at cedarpoint last season causing long Waits as well. It happens. Look who the parks have working for them. Teens making minimum wage. Remember Mantis and the constant stacking of just 2 trains? We did the vr on iron dragon a few years back, and it took over 15 min for our train to be dispatched. Neither of those are necessarily the crews fault, it's just the nature of the process. Just pointing out that it happens at all park chains just like slow ride crews can and have. Six flags has really improved compared to what it used to be. I am known to point out the good AND bad, regardless of what park it's at. I've pointed out negative things at all park chains, just like I've pointed out positive things at all park chains. There are a few people that have the attitude that the park can do no wrong regardless what it is. But that's cool, because I used to be the same way . Then I started traveling the world and got to see a lot of other parks in action. Cedarpoint is definitely "near" the top of the list when it comes to operations. With that being said, I'm glad they got the coaster running, and we are looking forward to getting on it. May have to wait a few weeks untill they get the bugs worked out though. What sucks, is not being able to visit the park yet because of a recent surgery. Hopefully I'll get to the park next week sometime if I get cleared to do so.
  7. How so? The SV crew turns trains around quickly (dispatches around 90 seconds), while some coasters at Six Flags parks have 10 minute dispatches Troll alert! Yea...ummm...ok
  8. How so? The SV crew turns trains around quickly (dispatches around 90 seconds), while some coasters at Six Flags parks have 10 minute dispatches I have been to every six flags park(except discovery kingdom) multiple times, and only witnessed a 10 min dispatch 1 time. And that was 10 years ago at great adventure when they had scream machine. I've witnessed long dispatch times at cedarpoint as well because employees were playing around. They are amusement parks with teenagers making minimum wage. Does not matter what park chain you are at, it's gonna happen. With that said, we were at six flags over Georgia a month ago, and the crew on goliath were ready to send trains out in about a minute. Also, I actually went to guest services and complimented the good service we had at the food stand. 25 people in front of us, and we waited no more than 5 min. Point is, it can and will happen at any amusement park.
  9. Glad that you are ok. We're these bad storms expected in the area? The reason I ask, is because the local fair that comes thru my town always removes the seats off of the ferris wheels and taller rides when bad weather rolls in. Here are a few more shots of the damage to that same fair. Looks pretty bad.
  10. Unfortunately, the major storms that hit New York today did major damage to a fairground classic...the sky diver. From the pictures it looks as if the ride is a total loss. This is a bummer, as this ride is rare to find anymore. It's also hard to tell from the pictures, but it may have crushed another ride as well. No injuries were reported. The last picture was taken before the storm hit. This happened at the Hudson valley fair.
  11. This park is like the carnival cruise line of theme parks.
  12. well it does say Cedar Point on it (assuming this is from Geauga Lake?. . since I didn't know CP had a Top Spin) That's not a top spin...that is the camp bus inside of camp snoopy.
  13. Someone posted this on Facebook from cedarpoint. I thought it was amusing.
  14. The thing I find funny, is that if this were to happen to a coaster at six flags all hell would be breaking loose about how bad and unprepared six flags was. By the way, I'm hearing s lot of complaints about certain rides only being open durring certain times. If they have such a big staffing problem this time of year, maybe they should delay the opening a few weeks in the spring. People are paying for the cedarpoint experience, and not getting it because of closed attractions and staff issues. Being an Enthusiast and season pass holder, it does not affect me that much, but I could imagine that someone who bought tickets and does not know any better would be bitter about it.
  15. We used the "watch" style fast lane when we went last month. If they can work the bugs out of it, they would be great. We kept having issues with picking a ride. It was complicated and not as straight forward as the clip on style of fast lane we are accustomed to.
  16. Tell that to the people that loved thunder road at carowinds.
  17. I stopped reading this after it said "The world's tallest".
  18. Well...here we go with the media BS. Now they are claiming that the "cart" was making a weird noise in the corkscrew. Story here.. https://www.wxyz.com/news/national/cedar-points-steel-vengeance-closed-on-opening-day-after-trains-bump-into-each-other
  19. Our local news in Detroit said it was nothing more than a "bump", and that all people involved returned to the park to enjoy the rest of there day. Good to see that the media is not turning this into something it's not.
  20. Didn't intiman have a similar issue with the superman coaster at sf(now Darian lake) When it opened?
