Hey guys... We are getting excited about our trip to Bush gardens next month(July 3rd and 4th). This park is part of a multi park trip, and those dates are unfortunately the only dates that will work for us. Since we are planning on hitting the Florida parks next spring, we are buying the membership that gets us into all of the property's. A few questions though... 1. How are the crowds on the 3-4th of July? I assume they will be packed for the fireworks, but how are the ride lines durring those days? 2. We are thinking of getting the all day dinning plan , but the description only says that you can eat every 90 min. It only says 1 entree and 1 side or desert. What is considered an entree in the fest house for example? 3. Over the course of 2 days, we would like to hit all the coasters once or twice. Not really concerned about power riding coasters "multiple" times. Would we still need to purchase a skip the line pass to make that possible? And do they offer a parent swap type program? 4. What's a good plan of attack for this park? I seem to remember that they open the park in sections. Is this still the case? 5. Since we will have memberships, what type of discounts do you get in the park? Tried looking for this, but you must sign into the pass holder website to see. Being that we don't have our passes yet, we can't access the site. 6. Last question....We like to check out a few shows at parks we visit. What shows can you guys recommend, and what shows should we pass on? Also, is seating limited? Thanks for any help!

Maybe you have a different code or something than me, but the Super Grover pass is almost $30/person cheaper than a Premier Busch Gardens WIlliamsburg membership? Me and my wife would be the only ones that have to get memberships at Busch gardens. With the Bush gardens passes, we each get a free ticket to Busch, so that would cover the cost of our daughter for 2 days at Busch gardens.Busch gardens also offers a pre k pass for our 2 youngest. Plus, it looks like the sesame place pass is only good till January, as the Busch pass is good for a year from purchase. With another Florida trip looming next april, it will pay for itself a few times over. At the end of the day, they are the same price but you get a year with the Busch pass, and only 6 months with the sesame place pass. So even if I saved $30 off the bat, we would still come out ahead when we visit Florida in the spring(Busch Tampa and seaworld) with the Busch pass. So we would just have to purchase a few 50% off tickets for the kids at sesame place. The kids also have a seaworld annual pass currently.

Ok.. So after doing some more investigating, the itinerary has changed once again. We decided to leave Darien lake as a "might do" park. It's all dependant on whether or not they start accepting six flags passes this year. If not, we will plan on hitting it next year when they do. So that means that we would spend more time at Niagara falls, and seabreeze park. Plus, it will give us a head start to great escape. The other thing that has changed is the tail end of the trip. Come to find out, Busch gardens offers a membership that gets you into all of there property's including sesame place. That being said, it's back in the mix. Sesame place and dorney park will replace kings island and kentucky kingdom. Both of those parks can easily be done in a weekend this summer, as they are not too far from my home. So here is the new schedule... Day 1. Niagara falls, seabreeze,(maybe Darien lake) start driving to great escape. Day 2. Drive/great escape Day 3. Great escape, leave around 1 and head to canobie lake park for the after 5 deal. Day 4. Sfne Day 5. Sfne/quassy for wooden warrior/drive Day 6. Sfga Day 7. Sfga Day 8. Moreys pier for a few hours/drive/sfga for a few hours Day 9. Kings dominion Day 10. Busch gardens Day 11. Busch gardens Day 12. Drive/ sesame place for half a day Day 13. Dorney for half day/drive Day 14. Drive/cp/drive home We are trying to do a lot of the driving at night in the more congested areas in the Jersey/Virginia areas. Hopefully it's not as bad after 10pm. We also just purchased an EZ-PASS to help with the toll mess out east. What's nice about this schedule, is that it leaves options if the weather is bad. Seabreeze, quassy, and canobie parks have an after 5 deal or individual tickets. So if the weather does not cooperate, we can skip out on those parks without losing $$$. This schedule also eliminates 2 nights hotel stays and saves us another $150. I know that there is back tracking from Busch gardens to sesame place, but the pass from busch will save us hundreds of $$. Weird thing is, sesame place offers the same pass but at a higher price than busch gardens for some reason.

Normally I don't put much stock in people's guesses as to what a new attraction is going to be before it's officially announced, but this seems to be spot on. This person is claiming it to be an intiman ride. They also claim(And show) the layout by looking at a overhead view on the footers. It's also mentioned that it will have 3 indoor sections, and use the station and q line from dragons. Not saying this person is correct. But it's makes sense. It's worth checking out.

The smoke that was coming from skyride at cedarpoint, was nothing more than the exhaust from the generator due to the power outage. -

I saw a photo on Facebook that a building adjacent to the coaster caught on fire, so that could explain why Sky Rocket is down. You mean this... Not sure who to give credit to on this picture. -

I agree that the work ethic of today's youth is "part" of the problem. When I was a teen(Yea, I'm old now) I worked at cedarpoint. We worked a LOT of hours for minimum wage. But at the end of the day, we got our job done and had a fun time doing it. To be honest, a lot of people did get burnt out by mid summer. The only thing that kept a lot of workers around, was that $1 per hour bonus. If you quit before your contract was up, you forfeited your bonus. That bonus was a lot of money to a teenager back then. Looking back, those few summers I worked at cedarpoint were some of my best times/ memories of my life. -

The park used to offer a $1 per hour bonus if workers completed the contracted summer schedule. From what I hear, they got rid of this perk. Perhaps more incentives like this would help. This year the park has loosened its grooming guidelines, and is now allowing facial hair and tattoos. -

I forgot about the over seas employees. I only noticed 1 so far this year. They used to have quite a presence in the park. The workers with school names on the name tags are called ride prides. They come from several different colleges to raise money for their fraternities(sp). I'm not sure if they actually get paid, or if all the money goes to the fraternity. They are just temporary workers they use in the spring and fall that i have noticed. -

I don't ever recall the park having this much of a staffing issue. Several food locations were closed, and most that were closed were locations that accepted the dinning plan. The water park is also being affected by staffing. Several closed attractions. Several gift shops were closed, and some had limited hours. A walk down the frontier trail, and you will see 3/4 of all retail locations closed. And can somebody please explain to me why the gift shop at the front gate closes at 10? We were leaving the park at 10:30, and it was closed. Several people were wanting to get something from the shop, but found the doors locked. There were still a lot of people in the park. I have never been to a park where they closed the gift shops at the front gate of the park that early. Lots of missed sales. Some locations like sweets and treats are not even opening. Kings islands shops are always open later than the park, so is Disney, ect..... I know it's still early in the year, but there has also been a lot of rides that have been down due to mechanical issues as well. Now....I "kind of" understand and it does not affect me as much as a person that is only able to visit once a year. I have a season pass and go to the park multiple times a year. Personally, I would be pissed if I spent a LOT of money to visit the park, only to find all these issues. I would expect the full cedarpoint experience. The staffing issues are not the paying guests fault. The least they could do is maybe offer a early season discount ticket with something like "excuse us while we stretch our wings" type of thing. We have been to several different parks this year, and have not run into these issues at those parks. With that being said, why do you think that staffing is such a big issue at cedarpoint this year? Is it just the area the park is in, and the pool of workers limited? Or is it just that teens just don't want to work summer jobs like they used to? Or perhaps it's the parks fault for not trying hard enough? I just watched an interesting piece on why teens are not working summer jobs like they used to, and the effect it's having on summer based businesses. It's not just a cedarpoint problem, it's pretty much any buisness that relies on summer help. A few of the reasons they gave were that more teens are involved in sports that involve practice and games in the summer. Another reason was that more high school students are doing volunteer work to help there chances of getting into college. One business owner said that he used to have people knocking down his door wanting summer work. He is now struggling to keep his store running because he can't find workers. Any thoughts on why this year is so bad? Is it just a lack of a work pool to choose from, or is it something else? -

Agreed! I had a hard time finding something that I "wanted" to eat in the park yesterday tgat was actually open. I always skip the burgers and chicken strips, so the options were scarce. -
