  1. I'm surprised no one's mentioned Thunder Dolphin's weird guy-wire supports.
  2. It's almost clone? If I remember correctly I don't think I've saw a coaster with this same kind of layout. I think I should pay a little more attention to this coaster since I have been accepted to a college out there this could possibly be my new home park for me. EDIT: He's referring to Wicked. I totally forgot about that. Yes, Wicked and the new coaster will be similar.
  3. ^But it is the most interesting part. They've completely torn out the turnpike and leveled the land. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. Other than that, nothing really interesting has happened yet.
  4. ^The new coaster won't start going vertical until after the holidays. Patience.
  5. Must be all that Energon in them. I hope this doesn't cause too many fatalities. --Robb No worries they are tethered to the shelf with Intamin cable. Even more reason to be concerned. Maybe I'll have my dad upgrade our laptop to Windows 7. All I've heard so far is praise.
  6. Probably the Racer. Not only will it be my last coaster for 09, but it will be the Racer's last run for 09, as well.
  7. It really wouldn't be of any use even if you did. These hackers apparently live in Holland, and I sincerely doubt Holland's going to extradite these two over something as trivial as this. The best thing to do, and I'm sure Robb agrees, is to fix the security loopholes and move on...
  8. ^Ring! Ring! Ring! We have a winner! Your turn!
  9. All wrong! Clap your hands together and dive through the center.
  10. Uh, I just go this weird message asking for "authentication". Sounds like phishing to me.
  11. Sorry I took so long to respond, I'm pretty busy right now. Take a guess! I want the name of the device, and it's purpose.
  12. Everyone at Kennywood was talking about this. Very sad, indeed.
  13. An optical disk of some sort, probably a CD.
  14. The funny part about all this is that the balloon wouldn't be able to lift the kid in the first place. It's simply not big enough.
  15. They just found the boy. He was at home, hiding.
  16. Very bizarre. I hope the boy is OK. www.dailycamera.com/sports/ci_13568761
  17. ^They'll announce a name once they've actually decided on one. Last I heard, they're still throwing ideas around.
  18. Just another day in the life of the Alvey family. Seriously, that was pretty funny.
  19. The Exterminator - cruelty to animals. Magnum XL 200 - reference to guns. Michael Jackson Thrill Ride - no explanation needed. Saw: The Ride - tie in to a movie franchise involving a psychopath who makes people mutilate themselves or others in exchange for sparing their life.
  20. Glad to see Busch Entertainment has a new owner. Hopefully, this will be good for the parks and ensure their continued success.
  21. poo-poo breaks. These are probably 1-2" cables at best. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've not had a chance to see one on my own.) I DON'T see why its so amazing. Its fatigue. The ride is 1:15 long, so assuming 1 minute to load and check the train (unrealistic, but a best case scenario) and a 10-10 operating schedule, the ride cycles 320 times a day. The cable is bent 4 times per cycle (twice going up, twice going down), so that means it is bent 1,280 times per day. And assuming a fully loaded train weighs 10,000lbs, (1000lbs for each car, plus 3000 for 28 riders) that means the cable lifts a total of 3.2 MILLION pounds every day on a best case operating scenario. When you think about these things, its not very surprising. I'm more concerned for the catch car itself than anything if it actually fell down the lift and into the station. Sh*t should be replaced before it breaks. Fatigued steel cables have tell-tale signs like broken wires, birdcaging, kinks, flattening, etc. All of these are easily detected during a routine inspection. So yes, cables do become fatigued overtime, but a routine inspection should make that blatantly obvious.
