  1. ^Though a good idea, you can't make higher profile rides "premium positions for several reasons. The first of course would be that paying people more to work on rollercoasters would create a lower level of morale in other areas and rides of the park. Then there is the "interchange" factor as I like to call it. Not all ride ops are certified ride ops. If you "attendisize" them (in-park word, I didn't make it up) just to check seats, that makes for more valuable ride ops becasue then they can be sent around to whereever staffing may warrent them. What I think MM should do is how Knott's trains their ride ops. If everyone at the ride is certified for that ride (The park requires it) and rotate positions every hour, then it makes a repetitive job seem not so repetitive. Getting stuck checking seats at unload for eight hours out of a 12 hour shift can be quite discouraging.
  2. ^^I think it's safe to say GADV and GAM are his prides of joy, if any. I'm hoping this coaster eclipses Colosus. Opening a new ride is more than just saying "come on in we're open!". I hope there is something cool to help market this thing
  3. Yes-But I'd have to take your word for it Do you flex in the mirror after you get out the shower?
  4. Magic Mountain is LONNNNNG overdue for an Intamin!
  5. Despite buying 40% of DCE, they STILL don't do anything for new year's eve!!
  6. If it were a Batman clone, I'd tell you to worry somewhat. Great Bear should be fun.
  7. Will we see B&M prototype something? An invert that can run six trains? Will S&S build a longer, more in your face 4D coaster? How about a full sized dark coaster?
  8. 1. GCI has not been confirmed 2. Wood has not been confirmed. 3. for a 2009 ride it's a little early for erecting a ride 4. You can put more than one ride from the same manufacturer 5. CF just bought two B&M's so expect a third somewhere wihin two years. 6. At this point everything is speculation so it seems we are all free to shed light on it. We could all be wrong so let's not forget that.
  9. If SF does go under, I wonder what the likelyhood of CF buying Magic Mountain? The city already made it clear that spot will always be a park. Who'd buy it if Six Flags went belly up in a week?
  10. The thing with all B&M's is that all the elements they offer are pretty much universal for all their rides. Not that it would ever happen, but you could have an invert, floorless, stand up, and maybe even a sit down with identical layouts. Not that I'm complaining, but it would be nice to see something innovative from B&M. I don't think B&M has really turned any heads since the conception of the invert. I'm sure that Mustang will have massive air time, but you'd be able to appreciate it more if there were less of a lap bar.
  11. Only if the liqour store runs out of Grey Goose. Why is it that the butler always does it?
  12. B&M floorless coasters are pretty cheap. (I didn't know "B&M" and "cheap" could go in the same sentence) A two train floorless with a length of about 3000' would run between 13 mil and 16 mil. Plus Hydra, the Superman clones, and the Batman clones proved you don't need size to make a good ride.
  13. ^You make valid points and I'm sure that as a father your first obligation is your child's safety, so no complaints there, but by my homepark being SFMM and remembering how bad it used to be and what the demographic is for the park, it's not about getting rid of the problem. It's near to impossible to get "rid" of troublesome teens and roudy rougues. The best any park management can do is try to contain it and bring the issue to a crawl. Also, some of the methods to rectify the problems can be buzz kills as well. Metal detectors and constant searches aren't exactly as family friendly as the groups of people who cause the park to use them. I'm not disagreing with you by any means, I'm just saying it will be hard for this, or any park to fix that particular problem. As for my speculation and rumors. All park chains almost always by rides in bulk to to a corporate discount. I know that when Cedar Fair or Six Flags buy rides, they do so in multiple units, because it shaves about two to three million bucks off the individual ride's base price (Kinda like "Buy the ride, and the trains are FREE!"). Since CF bought Behemoth and Mustang, I wouldn't be to surprised to see a B&M go into this park. Besides, it's a personal opinion that every high profile amusement park needs at least two B&M's. With the STRONG EXCEPTION of flyers, B&M gives you a ride that will have minimal downtime, huge hourly capacities, and provide a decent thrill ride with both intensity and comfort. Of course I'm a beemer fan boy, so I might sound a little bias.
  14. Yep. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light?
  15. Has anyone else ever passed gas while having sex? I know I'm not alone!
  16. I thought of a new inversion called a "paperclip" inversion. it consists of two elongated vertical loops one after the other resembling a paperclip.
  17. ^Obviously! Lol! Riddler's is special to me too!
  18. The demographic may be an issue too. Most of the locals who work there come from the San Fernando Valley. Most people complain about the commute and becomes an issue.
  19. ^True, but every so often you may run across some people who don't care about the money and do what they love. If the park found some way to praise them and punish the bad seeds, there might be a turnaround in morale yet.
  20. lThe changes being made and that have been made really make the park more enjoyable and is considerably better than it was from i don't know, say 2005? I don't think anyone's ripping on the park, it's just that you want to strive for perfection. SFMM will never be "perfect" , but they're trying to get as close to it as possible. I know everyone in this topic has to at least like the park otherwise they'd have no input. Pure makes a lot of good points, and though some may not agree with his approach, he does make some good points. The park is better, and we as park enthusiasts may notice things like morale getting better, cleaner parks, and subtle slogans, the only changes that people on the surface may notice are things that were just horrible in the past. Ryan also makes a valid point. If the park were ran with chipper employees, and smelled like roses at every turn, with midways paved with gold some would find room to complain. It's a work in progress. No one said that the park is where it needs to be, so it's safe to make suggestions, it's not complaining. There are also great difference in how the park is now then it was in 2005 or before, it's not neglecting the "bad things."
  21. ^But I wear the pants in the relationship V wears lace panties!
  22. Thanks Jahan for the Photo TR! You reminded me that this is a fun place to go despite the lack of rides, there is still a lot to do. I haven't been since Spiderman Rocks, so I need to get around to visiting soon. For now this TR will have to do. Thanks for being so detailed with it.
  23. http://www.screamscape.com/html/small_international_parks.htm#Chimelong I don't know much about this, but what I know about coasters tells me that it's either not possible, or it's not going to be a B&M invert. B&M is reluctant to build anything over 250ft. (Tallest standing ride to date is Silver Star at 239ft.) An oper floor invert with a hyper layout would create some uncomfortable force on legs and feet. I'm not saying that it won't happen, because Intamin will build anything you want if you up the cash for it. -Eric
