I haven't been on the Log Ride over the last few months on visits to the park. We finally got on this past weekend only to be disappointed by the new log design. They were filled with water and not draining properly and the new seats made it feel like my knees were just under my chin. My thighs were hugging seat-back in front of me to the point that it was slightly painful. Most logs had seating for 4 but they did have a few logs with only 3 seats allowing for a 'big boy' seat in the back. Does anyone know when and why they were changed? Apologies for the out of focus pic, it was dark and the the log was in motion.

That's awesome! Congrats on the weight loss!! thanks! I've actually lost a little more since then here I am at a performance art show the other night (that's Rebecca Havermeyer, the opening act of the show, with me). . at -58lbs. Haven't had a chance to see Rebecca but have had the pleasure of seeing Christeene several times!

Yes! I got to see them once in 2006 and hoping to catch them again this year! They're playing a venue about 10 minutes away from my house but I haven't got my tickets yet. Huge Interpol and Joy Division fan as well.

I saw a response the park made to someone on Instagram that said, "No date [for re-open] has been announced yet." They've been spamming that response to every question on Facebook, Twitter, etc. The only thing they're confirming is that it's not being torn down since a lot of the GP are asking "So it's being closed forever?!" when they get the response of "No date to re-open yet." Any suggestions for good eats/drinks in walking distance from the park? I've looked at Yelp and seen a couple decent places for curry, tacos, and sushi - any favorites from locals? I'm willing to uber/train/bus a little bit but honestly I'll have been up since 3-4am so little effort goes a long way when I'm walking out of the park at 8pm. I'm staying at the KBF hotel. Thanks! Porto's Bakery & Cafe is unique to Southern California, really good and fairly cheap. If you go be sure to try one of their potato balls and a cheese roll pastry. It's about a 10 minute walk from the parks front gate.

West Coast Bash 2015!

Order Placed! Thanks Robb! -
I visited the park yesterday with a friend and my nephews who are from out of state and in an effort to make the most of the day we arrived 45 minutes to park opening. While waiting in line at the front gates there were a couple of workers doing some quick in-person surveys. We were approached and asked where we were from and on a scale of 1-10 how excited we were to ride the larger roller coasters in the park. The follow up question was on a scale of 1-10 how we felt about riding Gold Rusher and Ninja. We answered and he said thanks and it concluded the survey. It left me feeling like they were putting out feelers on whether to keep them or not. I personally really enjoy both of those rides and would really be sad to see them go. Of course this is total speculation on my part, but it's what I took from that survey. On a side note the cup sizes have shrunk for a "regular drink" yet they are still just under $4.00. I took a picture of the cup next to a toothpick for size comparison. $4.00 'regular' size drink...now with smaller cups!

$1,000,000,000 Mua-hahaha If I remember last year there were 2 prices. I think somewhere close to $100 for full day at the park with a Q&A and some other stuff, and then they did a half day thing and I believe it was in the $50 range. That got you dinner, raffle, shirt, cup, and VIP pass for the night. I'm anxiously waiting for the official announcement too. I just need to know that I will have enough $ to go.

We went today and they were loading two cars at the same time, you'll be happy to know there were no stops at the block brake, you just slow down a bit but the cars no longer come to a complete stop up there. That made for a more thrilling ride since the brake makes your car rock right before you head into the next drop.

The Classical Music Thread
cosmic hearse replied to Keasbey Nights's topic in Random, Random, Random
Love classical music but just recently began going to live concerts in the past couple of years. I believe my first was LA Phil doing Mahler's 8th. It was amazing! One of my favorite pieces as a few have listed before is Barber's Adagio For Strings, it get's me every time! Also enjoy The Planets by Holst, Ravel, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Strauss, Brahms, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Debussy, Dvorak, Wagner, Handel to name a few. Lately I've been listening a lot to the 3rd movement of Beethoven's 9th symphony, it makes me feel a mixture of sadness and inspiration at the same time. I love it! Just last week I had the pleasure of taking my 13 year old niece to see Gustavo Dudamel conduct Mozart at the Hollywood Bowl and she loved it! For any of you Mahler fans that live in the LA area, not sure if you've heard but Gustavo Dudamel will be conducting Mahler's 8th with over 1,000 musicians on stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Feb. 2012. It's going to be amazing I'm sure! If you're out of state this is probably worth taking a little early year vacation. Tickets are going on sale soon, here's a link about the choirs and orchestra's involved as well as date and other info: www.laphil.com/tickets/performance-detail.cfm?id=4683 -

Take zee bus! It's a pretty short bus ride like 30 min or less from there. Would cost you less than $5 bux roundtrip. If I have room I might be down to give you guys a ride if you want, I'm gonna be picking my friend up from her place which is right next door to Disneyland. -
