Robb Alvey's 30 Pounds in 30 Days - 2008!

Great subject. Because of this thread I think my wife is convinced to get a Wii Fit! Not to mention that the new Rabbids game uses the Wii Fit board. -
Does TPR seem to be getting a little up tight?

Hmmmm. Good to know. Any experience with screenplays? Excellent point! -

Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate the way this forum is organized. I had just noticed a few post from mods and other regulars that caught my eye. And to be fair you can be fairly open to post and still have a well organized forum. Check out the following forum for example: http://www.pacificnorthwestflying.com/ I think having an easily search-able database is nice. But having a welcoming community is just as important. I think that Robb has explained it well. There has been a little tightening of the reins but I think they were isolated incidents and for the most part this board does an excellent job. Perhaps having this brought up will make some people think about what they post in reply to others before actually clicking the submit button. Rules are great but they can be over looked from time to time by the most well intentioned people. That doesn't give anyone the right to make them feel as if they are complete idiots. Like I said earlier, Robb's explanation explained it perfectly and perhaps I over reacted. But it is a good topic to consider. -

Excellent link. I sent it to several friends and I await their reply. It's hard to believe it is a bot. It's so realistic. -

You're forcing me to go off topic. My wife teaches first grade. One Christmas season I was helping out in the classroom trying to keep the kids occupied during a Christmas program. I started a game of Hangman. As the kids began spelling out the word they got the following letters: R--NDEER The next kid asked if there was an "E". I said no. That is when I had a first grader explain to me how Reindeer was spelled. Now I don't even play Hangman with my two boys. -

Thanks Robb. I can see your point. Maybe I just happened upon the threads at the wrong time. I agree about the spelling, text messaging format, and such being annoying. By the way, Firefox has an awesome built in spell-check. Otherwise I would probably be the biggest offender. Thanks for the explanation. Jim -
I don't post much but I do read a lot of the post. Lately I have noticed people hammering posters for things such as posting pictures of a roller coaster in a new thread when there is already a thread started. It seems kind of odd to be playing thread police on such trivial things. It reminds me of The Family Guy Star Wars special when R2D2 and C3P0 escape in the pod and the weapons officer tells the other weapons guy to hold his fire. The other guy responds with, "What, do we pay by the laser?" You guys seem to be pretty critical of the posters around here and it makes me feel like I don't want to contribute for fear of having my thread locked down and being banned. I don't see what all the fuss is about as long as there are no flame wars or offensive material. I would think you would want to foster an environment that would be welcoming to new contributors. Maybe it is just me. Hopefully this thread won't get shutdown and maybe some constructive dialog will take place. I want to make it clear that I don't mean to attack. I just wanted to post an observation and see if more people felt the same way.

The future of Animatronics?

Holy mackerel. I'm not sure how to feel about it. It's cool, creepy, useful, remarkable. It will be interesting to see how it develops. -

I put: Purcell Peril (Purcell is the name of a geographical event that created the valley that Silverwood is in) Henley's Havoc (Henley Aerodrome is the name of the airport that Silverwood was built on.) Kootenai Colossus (Kootenai is the name of the county that Silverwood is in. -
Very cool. Kind of a "Kindercare" with Mickey and friends. Thanks, Jim

Thanks EBL, that was helpful. I didn't know about the child swap thing. That is nice that they have that. I can't wait until the boys get old enough to hit the big rides. Thanks again.

My wife and I are planing a trip to Disneyland in the future with our two little boys. We can't wait to go and see the expressions on their faces. The older of the two is 5. If we decided to spend a week there we would probably stay at one of the Disney hotels. Do they offer any kind of child care service? The reason I ask is what if I would like to take my wife out for dinner one evening or perhaps my wife and I would like to ride a ride that the boys would not be allowed on. I'm not looking to ditch the kids but we would like to maybe spend a moment with just the two of us. Thanks.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention Tron. I can't believe that Disneyland never did anything with this concept. Since they are making a sequel they should do a ride with it. As far as Autotopia, it is a great ride for dad's to take the little ones on. I took my son when he was 3 years old and it was one of his favorite rides. Now he is almost 5 and he can't wait to go back and ride it again. As everyone has mentioned the People Mover needs to come back. I also miss Adventure through Inner Space. They need to get back to more adventure type rides in Tomorrowland instead of just showing us toasters that have a built in clock.

"1 Crazy Coaster" Trip
voodoobones replied to TheRapidsNerd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Plain and simple, if I caught one of my employees treating a customer like this manager of an amusement park did I would give him his walking papers. The company I work at treats not just our customers but our employees with respect. Without customers you have nothing. The manager in question is no different than a mall security guard with an over inflated sense of importance. Just curious but, was the manager really short? -

The manager sounded as if he felt his job was a tad more important than it really was. Joanna: You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don't you just make the minimum 37 pieces of flair? Stan, Chotchkie's Manager: Well, I thought I remembered you saying that you wanted to express yourself. Joanna: Yeah. You know what, yeah, I do. I do want to express myself, okay. And I don't need 37 pieces of flair to do it. [flips off Stan] -

I feel you hit it right on the head. Besides, installing a ride of this size will make Silverwood look more like they are really serious about being major destination point. Next they will build the hotel they have been talking about. I see a lot of potential in Silverwood. It seemed to sit stagnant for so many years and then the past few years they ramped up improvements. I'm excited to see what they come up with next. -
Do NOT try this at your local waterpark!

You should see them when they pour gasoline down the slide and light it! Now that is exciting! -

Anytime Silverwood expands it is a good thing. The Vu might be old school to some of you but not everyone has the opportunity to travel to different parks and ride the coasters. It's really nice to have a theme park up here. They do a great job with what they have. Sure it's not WDW but it sure is a lot better than nothing at all. -
Hello every one. My name is Jim. I live about 45 minutes from Silverwood Theme Park. Until my two boys get old enough I am stuck on the kiddie rides. My boys and I will watch roller coaster videos and other ride video on the internet for fun. In my spare time I fly airplanes.
