Game: When was the last time you...
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Random, Random, Random
Last time I recall winning the "Big Prize" was when I won an all-expenses paid Six Flags sweepstakes and got flown to SFGAdv for opening weekend in 2013. When was the last time you experienced a natural disaster? -
Sorry to post again, figured I could just post a picture of what is happening. I started by trying to rank CP coasters, but when I threw in Legend, the rankings started not holding. Now there are three #2s (including duplicated MF) and no #11. This is still on Safari, Chrome is not working for me. I can view it but not change the order.
-
I still can't get the drag and drop to work on Chrome. Seems like everyone else is having no trouble, maybe it's the version I'm using? EDIT: Just tried on Safari, looks like drag and drop works and save works, but something went wrong when I was initially trying it and it duplicated one of the entries (Millennium Force is listed twice as #2 right now). EDIT again: Is it possible to list two coasters as #1 (or any ranking position)? Or is that another glitch I am experiencing?

This is great! I feel privileged to take part in this beta test. I, too, had the aforementioned issues on Chrome, but being that this might be day 1 of going live, I'll wait until it's sorted out before I do any time-consuming rankings. Last time I took a Mitch Hawker poll, I had only been to about 3 theme parks. Now, I've been to many more, so this will take some time for me to rank everything to my satisfaction. Some thoughts/ideas: I like your idea of having an ongoing poll that we could change throughout the year as we ride new coasters or change our ranking. I also like that you guys aren't including kiddie coasters, because I think that would just unnecessarily clog up the rankings. There are a few that may be worth including, as others have mentioned. I also think Boomerangs and other clones should stay separate. It would additionally be interesting if there was some way to click on the coaster type and see how others of that type are ranking. I.e. click on "SLC" and see a ranking of all the SLCs, or even click on "B&M Floorless" and see a ranking of all the Floorless coasters. I'm also wondering about modified rides. I haven't been on Ghostrider or New Revolution since they were revamped, so I'm not sure if I should still rank them based on my last experiences. Also, might there be a way to indicate whether we've ridden a ride in the last year? I seem to remember the Mitch poll including something like that. Anyway, I know this will take time to perfect, but I am overall very pleased with what you guys have accomplished and I am excited to see what results this will produce!

Ten Best Coasters You Rode in 2017
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Parks I visited: Dollywood, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, SFOG, SFSTl, SFDK, 4 WDW parks, Fun Spot, Stricker's Grove, KK tour when it was closed In no particular order: I-305 Fury 325 Maverick Lightning Rod Diamondback Beast @ night (and in the rain!) Mystic Timbers Joker @ SFDK Mystery Mine (Bill I agree with you that this ride is legit) Space Mountain I'm giving the upper-edge to KI coasters because I got to ride them the most this year and thus had multiple memorable trips/experiences on them. I had some great theme park memories this year that did not involve riding coasters. In fact, there were some definite "throw a wrench in the plan" moments that ended up being really fun and memorable! So, EXPERIENCES that stood out to me this year: Finally finding out what's in the shed, even though I had to wait hella long on opening weekend. CoasterMania, even when it started POURING during ERT! Coasterstock and Chillout at CP Taking pictures under Storm Chaser during off-season KK tour Pandora at WDW and Flight of Passage Going to the City Museum with TPR Seeing the happily Ever After show at WDW with my mom Multiple trips to KI Haunt with good friends Having a good time at Dollywood Christmas even when the rides were closed for weather Catching up with a friend at WDW and eating a ton of food at Epcot BONUS bad memory: getting heat exhaustion at WDW and SFSTl -

Adventuredome in Vegas, I think 2012. When was the last time you rode a choo-choo train? (as opposed to a regional transit) -
What is your next park?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeahh... literally just Drop Line, Barnstormer, Tennessee Tornado (briefly) and some of the family/kiddie rides. Plans were already set in place by the time forecasts showed how cold it was going to be. However, I got to enjoy the park in an entirely different way yesterday than planned (few rides, more shows, atmosphere, food, and shops). And yes, definitely froze my a$$ off. Thankfully, I made it back today and got in a few rides on everything I wanted once it warmed up. Next is KI WinterFest tomorrow, then a trip back home to visit my long-time friend and previous home park, SFDK. -

It’s open!!! posted as an hour wait. I’m gonna do it at least once, but idk if I want to wait another 1 hour. Coasters gradually started testing and opening as it got warmer. Not sure when LR opened because I was d*cking around at Thunderhead and Mystery Mine for a while. I don’t think I’ve ever seen all the effects on Mystery Mine, but they were working and it was great! Now, to kill 45+ more minutes... -

Yesterday, I saw Smoky Mountain Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, and The Night Before Christmas. All three were very good and featured some outstanding vocalists and synchronized dancing. Out of the three, my favorite was It's a Wonderful Life, which largely follows the classic movie. It's one of my favorite holiday movies, but if you're not a fan then maybe it's not worth seeing the show. Smoky Mountain Christmas was recommended to me several times. It had some beautiful sets and amazing vocalists, but wasn't really a play in the sense that it had any definitive plot. The Night Before Christmas was definitely the most child-friendly of the three, but I didn't leave it feeling dumber like I did with the show at WinterFest. Best way I could summarize it would be if they took a Hallmark movie and made it into a musical. There were some laughs and some good songs and dances, but not with the show-stopping quality of the music in the other two. Just depends on what you like. Also, yesterday was an awful day for coasters. Temp never got above 35. Only thrill rides that opened were Drop Line, Barnstormer, and Tennessee Tornado briefly. Too cold for anything else to open. Even the train was almost too cold to enjoy. Great day to do nothing but see shows, wander around in between, take in the sights, and eat food (indoors). Weather already looks better today so I'm going to try for a few hours before heading back to Ohio. -

sang a Christmas carol. Not a card. I guess the o-l looks similar to d in this font with a quick glance. Cold pizza... I don't mind cold pizza, but I can't recall a recent time. So I'll say summer or early fall. When was the last time you were insulted? -
If I had a dime for every time I posted something, thought "eh.... I don't know, that one might be a bit much" and then Robb or Elissa came along and gave it the seal of approval as I was questioning whether or not I should edit it I would be a rich man. LOL that's exactly what happened, so I put back the original post.

Today? I'm one of those FB monthly active users who is a daily active user. When was the last time you sang a Christmas carol? -
I agree with this! Eh, I don't know. It would be weird as no other Cedar Fair property is branded that way. Unless they plan on rebranding all the parks, like Six Flags has. Cedar Fair's Cedar Point. Cedar Fair's Valley Fair. Cedar Fair's Knott's Berry Farm. Um, no. Plus Cedar Fair parks all their own unique identities, unlike Six Flags parks. When you think of Six Flags you think of two things. Big coasters and parking lots. No one really expects or cares the lack of overall themeing. Landscaping sucks. Food sucks. Shopping sucks. Atmosphere sucks. Ambiance sucks. People go to Six Flags for big thrills. That's it. Though to be fair the company has realized more recently that that model just isn't sustainable and they are finally doing something about it. That something is copying Cedar Fair, because I don't think that most people really identify individual Cedar Fair parks as being part of a bigger company. There is not really one identity that typifies what you get at each park. Mostly due in part to the name not being tacked onto the front. I know people, coaster people, who still aren't really aware that Knott's Berry Farm and CGA and Cedar Point are all part of the same company. And that could actually be in the company's benefit. At least in my mind. Dishing on Six Flags so much and extolling Cedar Fair when Six Flags Great America has a better ambience than Cedar Fair CGA. There are still some nicely themed areas at Six Flags parks and some crappy theming at Cedar Fair park. There are still a handful of us that call SFDK "Marine World." In general, GP refer to it as just "Six Flags" and maybe know it as Discovery Kingdom. There is a growing pains stage but eventually the new name would catch on. I don't hear anyone calling CGA "Paramount's" or even "Marriot's."

Anyone going to be at the park Thursday/Friday/Saturday next week? (though mainly Friday) I had to move up the dates of my trip and everyone who previously was able to go with me is no longer able to go. I'll still have fun, but would also be cool to meet up. -

Someone else getting what they want, at your expense. What's worse than mixing up the dates of your rental car with a company that has no refunds or exchanges? (true story, you're welcome for the donation, Hertz ) -
To put it delicately, he did seem to have some sort of mental handicap. Either he miscounted (by far) or he really has a fixation with riding that coaster. He says he lives an hour away and commuted to KI every day after work... it did sound implausible, to say the least. I'm too nice for my own benefit sometimes, but I definitely would have preferred to take that ride alone.

Thanks for the report! It is different hearing things from the perspective of someone with a little kid. $10 for 4 to skate is reasonable, maybe I should try to find a way to take advantage of the system and group up next time too. I've never ice skated (but seasoned blader/roller skater) but there is no way in hell you'd get me to push one of those carts. I'd sooner fall on my a$$. I do think it should mainly be for kids but I did see some adults too. -
There were some random cutouts from The Santa Claus...2?? Also some bows and presents (one pictured). You can see a Tim Allen Santa Claus cutout gesturing to the "opening" of the shed as you exit the shed, but the music and scenes themselves were the same. Side note: I got to see the rare tree monster twice!

Thanks, guys! Lights and entertainment are far superior to the Holiday in the Park I've been to. If you just want to freeze your a$$ off on coasters in December and don't remotely care about Christmas decorations and entertainment, then pick your poison with Holiday in the Park (I've heard SFGAdv is especially cold this time of year, go there!) If you're one of the elves with super Christmas spirit or you have little kids (and aren't going to Disney), then this would be better. Or better yet, choose option C: go to Dollywood. I'll be there next week! (Clearly, I'm more of a Haunt person)
