Still have tons of pictures that I will post soon, but for now, I'm just going to throw up some pics from tonight. The number 14 beer in the world on the Best of BA list, Stone Imperial Russian Stout. Yep, good stuff. I've got to be honest, though, I wouldn't rank it as high as it is. Personally, I think TenFidy is better and The Abyss is in a whole different league for only being a few spots above in the rankings. Still a great Imperial Stout and maybe it will improve with age. I'm stocked up, so we'll see. It is finally here. Odd time to release an Imperial Stout if you ask me, but I'm not complaining.

Where were the pictures of John Force? -
I'm not going to go into any deep criticism of the videos as I entered the video contest this year, too. Like Barry said, it is always interesting to see what others think of the videos because every ones personal preferences are so different. Dave is the front-runner for me so far with Barry's video coming in a ways behind in second. Unlike others, I actually thought the ongoing Elissa bit in Barry's video was a nice touch. The other three videos really didn't do anything for me. That's not to say they were bad at all, just didn't deliver on a personal level.

After hearing so much praise about Cedar Point, I was pretty disappointed with my first visit last year. The employees were not overly friendly, the operations were no where near as efficient as I had always heard, and the rain policy was beyond a joke. Having said that, it was still a fun day and I do slightly prefer their coaster line up over SFMM's. I also think it is pretty difficult to really compare the two parks. They are just very different. And for all the scenery people that like seeing the mountains, I'd take the view of Lake Erie from the top of MF over any view of the rolling brown hills that SoCal people call mountains any day. But that's just me.

Nice Job! I really want to get that Sea World park. It looks great.

^ Yeah, what was it two pages later Dcody responded to everyone with a nice, heartfelt "thank you" and said she would start posting more now that she realized there were so many great people on TPR. Probably just leading us on. You know, being an Oscar winner and everything.

Add in Matt singing the wrong words to "Proud Mary" and you've got some amazing entertainment. Scott, I couldn't agree with you more about Cyclone. That ride is pure crap and should be burnt to the ground. I wasn't sure if I was going to live through my one and only ride on that contraption. Probably didn't help that I chose to ride on the wheel seat of the last car

Photo TR: Tagging along Big Mike's "Roadshow"
65skylark replied to sfne2005's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
One of the best photo TR's I have read this year, Rich. Even with all the Big Mike pictures. Oh, and I too have ridden TH many times. While I think it is a fantastic woodie, it has very little air time, in ANY seat. If air time is your thing, then TH is not the coaster for you and I can totally understand why Rich didn't think that much of it. -
Got lots of pictures to post from the last three weeks or so, over half of them are beers sent to me from Derek. Just been to busy (or lazy) to get them all up. I do agree with Matt's assessment of Choklat Stout from Southern Tier, though. Lots of chocolate, not much beer. I am drinking a glass right now and it isn't bad, just not really my style when it comes to beer. If you like your beer REALLY chocolaty though, Choklat Stout is for you!

WOW! I had to go back to the 4th page to find this thread. Where's the rest of the pics? You can't just leave us all hanging in suspense like this.

Nice pictures Jahan! I totally agree with you about V2 at SFDK being better than the standard versions. -
I'm thinking John Force will win it all this year.

Photo TR: 2007 Year in Review
65skylark replied to Carnage's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Finally, Paul puts up some pictures. Knowing all the places you went this last year, I have a feeling I may be making a few more cameos before this PTR is over -
So the next day we did some more sight seeing. This time we headed North up the Oregon Coast with a stop at Pacific City, home of Pelican Brewery. And I'll leave you with a view of Haystack Rock from the parking lot. Pelican Brewery was a really nice surprise. I highly recommend it stopping by if you happen to find yourself on the Central Oregon Coast. A quick peak into the brewery before leaving. Picked up some of their 2007 Storm Watcher barlywine at 13% ABV along with a bottle of Tsunami Stout as we left. They were all very good. The India Pelican Ale and Tsunami Stout were my two personal favorites. India Pelican Ale was one great IPA. Very Hoppy with lots of greapfruit and pine notes. The stout was very rich with chocolate and esspresso flavors and a well balanced hop pressence. The Bad Santa was also very good. Since these were all new to me, I had the sampler. The view from our table. India Pelican Ale proved to be one of the best IPA's I have ever had. The beer selection. Inside the place had a very nice atmosphere to it. Pelican Pub and Brewery. Right on the beach as you can see by the lack of pavement in the parking lot.

I guess it has been two weekends ago now, but the family and I decided last minute to take a long weekend trip to the Oregon Coast. This time we hit up a brewery that I have long been wanting to visit but hadn't ever been able to squeeze it in for whatever reason. Actually, we were going to hit up two breweries, but one wasn't letting in any minors because of a beer and wine festival that we didn't know was going on. Anyway, on with the BTR: Wash down evil beer aftertaste with some Yukon Jack and Pepsi. Pelican Brewery coming up. Yeah, much better, but actually still a bit dissapointing after just having it earlier that afternoon on tap. Only one thing left to do......... So the only other thing I had was some more Dead Guy. Something you will rarely see me do. Either Siletz Brewery is one of the worst breweries in the world, or the store we got them from like to microwave their beer for about 20 minutes before puting it on the shelf. Yeah.......OK, it isn't just me. EEkkkeewww! Wow! I don't even know where to start. Maybe my palet was all screwed up or something. Surely no beer could really be this bad. Better give Sandi a taste to see if it is just me. Interesting looking bottle, anyway. Hmmm....well there was some chocolate flavor in there. Had almost no head at all, very little carbination and very watered down. I was not impressed. Hopefully, their Red Ale would be better. First up was the Chocolate Porter from Siletz Brewery. Unfortunately, this is as close as we got. They were having a beer and wine festival and every pub in town closed to minors at 5pm. Oh well, next time. I still had some new beers waiting for me at the hotel. After several hours spent sight seeing, we arrive in Newport Bay, home of Rogue Brewery. One of the reasons we really like this restaurant along with the good food is the great view. Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Yay! I have always really liked this beer and it is even better on tap. Tidal Raves in Depot Bay. I wonder what they have on tap? The next morning we slept in and then got ready to hit the road for one of our favorite restaurants for lunch and the on to Newport Bay for dinner. Made a quick stop at the super market (notice the roof falling apart) and found some local brews that I had never had before from Siletz Brewery. We'll see how they taste later. The view from our balcony on the third floor. OK sorry, almost forgot this was the beer thread. Our hotel for the weekend: The D Sands hotel located in Lincoln City RIGHT on the beach.

Had some Terminal Gravity X Bar Stout tonight at a local restaurant, sorry no pictures. BUT, I did get a lot of pictures from our trip to the Oregon Coast last weekend so look for a BTR real soon. Oh, and a nice little package from PA arrived at my door today! Lots of new Imperial Stouts makes Justin very happy. A few IPA's and some Nugget Nectar doesn't hurt, either.

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
65skylark replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ So you actually read the first post in the thread where it says exactly where the new coaster is going. I like your style. I find it much easier to just post random questions several pages into a thread that have probably already been answered. Just saves me the hassle, you know? -
I'm not as cool as Heath and Derek because I don't have a theme. But, this next beer would fit into both of their categories at 9% ABV and coming in as the #34 beer in the world. And Sandi picked me up this nice bottle opener as an early Valentine's present for her Portland Beer Lover. Yes, chalk another one up in the win column. Nice light brown head that actually disappears rather quickly. Very smooth with bitter dark chocolate and espresso flavors. Not as sweet as most stouts that I have had, which I liked. Very nice beer. Yet another 9 out of 10 on the Justin Beer Scale. Victory's Storm King. After being blown away by The Abyss, I thought I would start to seek out some more Imerial Stouts.
