Photo TR: Six Flags St. Louis, City Museum and More!
Six Flags Addict replied to dj snow's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Awesome trip report! Man I haven't been to the city museum since i was like 8. To bad you didn't visit Forest Park, The Art Museum, Or Art Hill (all right next to the zoo).. They're pretty cool to. Oh... did you get a picture of the bus that hangs off the top of the city museum? -
Great PTR! Good to see you had a good time at my home park. Man I've only seen the line on Batman that long once this summer (but I only go on week days so...).
-
Great TR! I recently went to Dollywood and I have the exact exact same opinion. It felt like 3/4 of the park was shops! Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the park but it felt like what you said... a tourist trap. Oh and someone said a couple posts ago SDC is a half theme park half ozark experience. I'm not trying to be a jerk about what you said but I go to an amusement park to have an amusement park experience and I go to the river to have an ozark experience. Not an amusement park to have both.

DUDE!!! Man those crowds look insane! At least the weather wasn't in the 100's again...Me and my drama team were up at a camp in Hannibal (yes where Tom Sawyer is based) and it was only like 85. I just hope the crowds aren't terrible tomorrow since most schools start Thursday. Oh and what did Big Mike think of the park?

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Six Flags Addict replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow it is about time KI got a B&M, and from the renderings the ride looks awesome...To bad KI is not closer to STL or I would definitely make a trip out there. I am a little surprised by the name though...I thought for sure CF would of named it Diamondhawk before naming it Diamondback . -
I just watched the FD3 clip on youtube and I'm cracking up....It's so fake it is hilarious! They make it look like the ride is 200ft+ tall and besides since when do coasters run on fuel? Just look at the ride, it is small There is nothing to worry about. Coasters are safe. As previously stated there is a far greater chance of being hurt in a car accident the next time you get in a car than the chances of being hurt next time you get on a coaster (I think it is like 1 in 60 vs. 1 in a million.) And about the accident at SFoG, It was completely the kid's fault. As my Dad would say, "You can't fix stupid".

Good for SFMM. After riding Evel Knievel I can say that you are in for one awesome ride. The Terminator theme has me saying, "What the heck?", but then again so did Evel Knievel and now really like the name so maybe I'll just have to give it some time to grow on me. I just hope that it ends up not being a clone of EK...Yes I know EK is a near clone but its a clone of a ride somewhere in Scandinavia. I doubt most of the GP and us (unless you go on a TPR trip) will get to ride Thunderbird.

Nice PTR! FF looks like a lot of fun.

Ok so today I got to go out to the park. I was kinda bummed that I was not going to be able to ride EK till Monday, but I'll wait. On my way out of the park I took some pics of EK. I only could get a few good ones from the path but thanks to the awesome rides supervisor, Mike, who let me walk past the ropes to get some pics, I was able to get some close ups of EK...I really appreciated it. Enjoy the photos and while I have not rode EK yet, I can tell you just from looking at it that its not going to disappoint. *Sorry the photos are so large. I would re-shrink them but I'm really tired and I have to get up early for a competition in downtown STL tomorrow.* Thanks for looking. Now get your butt out here and ride EK! Reverse view of the enterance plaza/midway. I really like the lights and the landscaping they put in. The Log Flume got a new coat of paint this year as it is right next to EK. Info about Evel Knievel. One last look at the red train. Missed it by a second. This ended up being my favorite shot. I really like the angle of this shot. It's the red train's turn. More Ek midway plaza. Comin around the bend. (Thanks for letting me get a better view Mike!) Airtime! The drop. Climbing the lift. So right as I was getting ready to walk away, the ride started testing! Another look at the midway/enterance plaza. EK's midway/enterance plaza. The skid marks are a nice touch. I love the sign. When I took this picture there was 14 hours, 12 minutes, and 5 seconds until Ek opened!

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Six Flags Addict replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok so back at SFSTL's opening day I was going through Mr. Freeze's exit que and there were these two eight/nine year old somewhat hick boys in front of me. One of them was pointing to a patch of grass where a piece of track usually sits that they use to put the trains on incase the ride valleys. Keep in mind this piece is just long enough to hold the train. He said saying something like: kid 1: You Know that Mr. Freeze used to be a lot taller? kid 2: Really?! kid 1: Yeah see that track piece over th.....well I guess they moved it because they didn't want people seein it. *Points to top spike* Thats were it was. They had to take it down because the ride was so tall it was breakin the law and a couple people fell out and died one time it went so high. kid 2: How high did it go? kid 1: It was almost as tall as the arch. I just started laughing. -

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Six Flags Addict replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The rumor mill is starting up again here in St. Louis. Quote from fan six flags (who has be correct about the last two additions) on the sfstl.net boards. I really hope Hurricane Harbor does get something new next year because it has not gotten anything since 05 and is very popular in the summer. -

Thank you for all of the comments everybody! I really appreciate them. MollyG- Thanks for the pics. I wasn't able to get to the other side of Evel's construction area or ride Colossus so it is really cool to see those. -

Sounds interesting but I won't get excited until I see pics of all of these flags. I do hope WoF does get something new next year though. -
