Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
Six Flags Addict replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
30 minutes south of downtown St. Louis. It's 58 degrees!!! Finally some warm weather. Last week was unusually cold for STL. Our highs didn't even pass the freezing point. -
Mitch Hawker's Steel Poll
Six Flags Addict replied to yankees15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hahahaha...I do the exact same thing. It makes my voting so much easier. Waiting also. This one is going to be harder than my Wood one because I got 3 good canidates for number one, Mr. Freeze, Sheikra and Batman. Same here. I used it for the wood poll and it makes voting much easier. Me to. It makes voting easier. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Six Flags Addict replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Quote from the member parkjunkie on the www.sfstl.net boards. I really hope they just use these on the Boss and not EK. That would just be horrible if they did. -
I would like to see SFA, SFKK, SFM go but only if they were sold as continuing operations like the other parks. I don't like the idea of building parks over in Asia. I think they should just focus on the parks in the US and add something new every year to every one of them, even if it is just a water slide or kids area. Something is better than nothing.

Boss has gotten rough but some rides are better than others. For example, in early June I had an amazing night ride right before closing. Loads of airtime and a lot of laterals. Not one spot where it was rough. By far my best ride on it last year. Then in mid July I had a horrible ride. No forces. I couldn't count all the areas where it was rough. Came off of it with a headache and LIMPING! My worst ride ever. So honestly it just come down to when you ride it. I just hope that the major retracking it is receiving helps because the Boss is a awsome ride, even when it is painful.

Although I would of much rather seen the park use some of its excess land (they're currently only using about 1/3 of the land they own), I really like the spot where they put EK because that area of the park usually doesn't have a lot of people and can be dead at times so this will definitely help generate traffic in that area.

I think it is going in the existing area but I'm not sure. -
Worst New Addition for 2007
Six Flags Addict replied to coastermaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't see the branding as being "Dark Knight" as much as I see it being Batman related. Regardless of how well or how bad "Dark Knight" does as a movie, the Batman franchise is tried and true and will be around for many, many years. Quit your bitching. Would you rather the ride have been called "Flight Deck?" --Robb I agree. The Batman franchise will definitely be around for a LONG time. I actually like the idea of the Dark Night coasters. They may end up being really cool if SF can theme them well. -

At least they finally announced it. Good to see Cedar Point focusing on kids instead of thrills. -
Your Park "To Do List"
Six Flags Addict replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Boss is being retracked right now. It is the largest amount of retracking since it opened. On a side note Screamin' Eagle is also having sections retracked. Six Flags St. Louis -Repaint Mr. Freeze, Batman, Ninja, and finish Screamin' Eagle's paint job. -Add more trees towards the front of the park, including Hurricane Harbor. The back of the park is heavily wooded which is very nice during summer but the front of the park has absolutely no shade -Add more trashcans in the parking lot. They are always to full and adding 20 to 30 trashcans could help greatly. -Tear out the Hannibarrels. It's been SNOB since 1997 and a new flat would fit perfectly there. -Expand Hurricane Harbor. No matter what there is always a large crowd and it's ten year anniversary is next year and the only new ride it has received since opening is Tornado (2005). Something along the lines of Deluge would fit very nice. -Add air conditioning in Batman's que. It can get really hot inside the tunnel/station during the summer. -Refurbish the carousel. It is extremely beat up and needs a lot of work done. -Fix the speaker on the train. It is really annoying when you can't even understand what the person is saying. -Extend Hurricane Harbor's hours. -
Here are some EK construction photos. These are from Friday. http://www.sixflagsstlouis.net/updates/2008/20071214.htm These are from Sunday. http://www.sfstl.net/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=37&g2_itemId=2241 A lot more construction has taken place since Sunday and the ride stands about 80ft. tall and can be seen from the highway.

New Vekoma Flyer in China 2008
Six Flags Addict replied to speedracer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This just looks painfull plus it also is going to end up being a capacity nightmare. Not the best desicion the park could of made. I just hope this park will get lucky and they won't have to many problems with the ride.
