I can't believe people would judge. She may not remember completely, but like you said, she'll be shaped by it. And even if she doesn't remember you've got pictures Even at her age they are all learning experiences. Nicole

Forst Files-Nicole's park adventures
sspaz1000 replied to sspaz1000's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First up is Knoebels, April 25th 2010 As an alumni of Bloomsburg University, it has now become tradition for me to head up to Knoebels on the Sunday of opening weekend. (As a member of the concert band, we played the band shell every year, they still do.) I arrive at Knoebels just around opening, and since I've got stockpiles of never expiring tickets, I head straight for The Phoenix and get my first coaster ride of the season in. After my first coaster ride, it's usually food (Cesari's), and time to head over to the band shell to see if I can find any old college friends, and professors. This year the weather was kind of drab so I didn't take that many pictures. My usual shot of The Phoenix. I probably have the same shot from every year I've gone there. Nice to see the price didn't jump from 2009 to 2010. Really early construction on The Black Diamond. Not the best shot, but the concert band playing at the band shell. Kozmo's Kurves. Didn't ride it in 2010. Once was enough in 2009. Twister, the I'm going to scramble your brains a few times ride. I used to enjoy this when I first was in college back in 2001/2002 now a days, I just want to skip it as it makes me feel awful for hours afterward. The Carousel, a fantastic way to rest the tummy after Twister. And apparently I was cool and got the "brass" ring thing and got my tickets back and had that ride for free. Of course I have to end the day on The Phoenix. And ignore the fact that this is not the best picture of me. Up next Canada's Wonderland (won't be for a little while, have to go re-size and organize my pics.) -
So I've decided to overcome my fear of posting on here by what else making a bunch of photo trip reports. For the past couple years, I really didn't go to that many parks. Summer 2009 I ended up at Sea World and Disneyland before and after Comic-Con but I really wasn't seeking out coasters. Fast-forward to 2010, and I seem to be in the year of Amusement parks for me and me quite possibly hitting my 100th roller coaster. In 2010 I went to: Knoebels (April 25th) Canada's Wonderland Part 1 (May 29th Part 2) Six Flags Great Adventure (July 17th) Lakemont- August 13-14 Delgrossos August 13-14 Hershey Park Bonus Bournemouth Pier In 2011 I went to: Knoebels July 2011 Coney Island Part 1 Part 2 Quassy & Lake Compounce Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Six Flags New England- Bizarro Bash Part 1 Part 2 Palace Playland Part 1 Part 2 Funtown/Splashtown Canobie Lake La Ronde The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom Magic Forest Knoebels-September 2011 Knoebels- PPP Dutch Wonderland Great Adventure Knoebels In 2012: Non-Park: Philadelphia Zoo 3-31-12 Six Flags Great Adventure: 4-7-12 Six Flags Great Adventure: 4-12-12 Non-Park: Philadelphia Museum of Art Van Gogh Exhibit Dorney Park- Season Pass Processing 4-24-12 Knoebels 4-28-12 Cedar Point 5-18, 5-19, 5-20 Kennywood 5-21-12 Scott's Pizza Tour 5-25-12 Adventure Park USA 5-26-12 Hershey Park 5-28-12 Non-Park Philadelphia Comic Con May 31-June 3 Dorney Park: Coasting for Kids June 10 Six Flags America Canada's Wonderland Upcoming: Delgrosso's Lakemont Wildwood? Coaster101 Photo Contest
sspaz1000 replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Still doesn't work. Says my photo is too large. ETA: I don't think files can be larger than 1024x768. When I submitted the original size it said it was too large, so I kept scaling it down until it did and 1024x768 was the first size it accepted. Nicole -
I'm actually partial to where I live, outside Philly. 45 minutes from Dorney 1.5 hours from Hershey, and Six Flags Great Adventure 2 hrs (at most) from Knoebels 2 hrs from Jersey Shore, Deleware Shore, and Ocean City Maryland Shore points 2.5 from Six Flags America Then there's all the little parks up towards new england ways that are anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on traffic and construction. And heck pushing it you can go 5 hours out and head up to all the Western Pa parks. Living here you kind of take it for granted how much is right around here. (and travel times are based upon my slight tendency to speed. ) Nicole

Accident on Tidal Wave at Trimpers
sspaz1000 replied to StarWars's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I don't think they were next next to each other but the end of the Toboggan theoretically would intersect the end of Tidal Wave. The two rides fit nicely into the end of the block there. These pics I took are from when I was there in 2008, I don't know if that would help place location. toboggan location tidal wave location Nicole -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

^ That's great that you got to go on it twice in a row today. I didn't even think to look at the ground around GASM yesterday. I was of the ride, ride, ride, make sure I get water mentality. Lucky you for getting the Freedom train. I had the Axe train. Sounds like GASM had a good last day (well still is cause it's still has a few more hours to go ) Nicole

You can 't really compare them as they cater to different types of crowds, if your looking for good food and quaint, Knoebels is the way to go, but if your really doing the coasters, you can do the coasters is about an hour and still get a slice of pizza and a ride on the carousel or something else (I say carousel just because it's one of the ones where you can still try to get the rings.) But Hershey has lots of coasters if you just want coasters. But I would also have a game plan in place and decide which coasters you REALLY want to ride and focus on them. Nicole

I too was at Great Adventure yesterday, and even without a flash pass most rides were a 15-20 minute wait. The longest line we had was at 5:30 for our second ride on Ka, but that was only because people couldn't figure out that there are two sides to queue on. And then my friend and I unknowingly got in the line for the front row. All these people kept wanting the back on Ka and we just went well why is this line short, and walked in it. About 5 rides later we realized oh we're in the front. I have to agree it was the by far the best ride sitting in the front. (And I have the bruises to prove it, ) I'll post more when I'm not as tired. But all in all Great Adventure was a great day yesterday. NIcole

You have some great history here. Loved the shots of Hercules at Dorney. That was my first "adult" coaster. Geauga Lake looked like a wonderful park. I'm still kicking myself when my family and I went to Cedar Point the first time, we stopped over in Aurora, and went to Sea World. I had no idea at that time there was a Six Flags there (at least I think it was six flags). I regret not getting to back out there. But at least I can look at your really awesome pictures. Nicole
