New Amusement Park planned for... Tracy, CA?
singemfrc replied to XYZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's pretty much the best way to describe Tracy. -

"Because, it would be fun, and you could get on rides." Well, I'm sold. -

Well I live in Sacramento, so I can tell you this is about the same distance away as SFDK. CGA and SCBB are more than double the distance. Speaking for myself and most of my family and friends, SFDK and CGA are mainly ignored for thrills because of their size...most people I know are much quicker to go all the way down to SFMM (If looking for thrills) or DLR (If looking for a family destination) before the northern california parks. If this were what it claims it would be, then it might in fact draw very well. I think it would do much better as "SFMM North" than "Disneyland North"..as a thrill park rather than as a family park. I don't think a thrill park necessarily needs to be located in a major area like SF or Tahoe..in fact it can often benefit from being outside major cities. CGA, SFDK, and KBF are all faced with limitations that I don't think Tracy would present. Disney is Disney, and I think a lot of people like it because it's Disney..there's a certain magic to it that I don't think anyone will ever be able to replicate..trying to copy them never works out well. (Look at FairyTale Town in Sacramento, that's what it was intended as when built in 1959, Disneyland North) tl;dr: If it's just another attempt to replicate or exceed DLR, don't bother. I don't think they have any chance at all at outdoing Disney in the family resort department, especially in that location. I think the location would serve a large thrill park well but not a DLR type resort. It's a pipe dream anyway, it will never get beyond the dreaming stage. -
Theme Park Equips Donkeys with Wi-Fi!

I was just about to post this: http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/21/israeli-donkeys-get-wifi-equipped-for-historical-theme-park/ -
I hadnt been there in a long time so I don't know how long it may have been the norm but that was definitely the vibe I got when I was there last month based on the attention that the animal attractions seemed to be getting from both the guests and the staff; made me wonder the same thing. Not saying they looked like they were being mistreated or anything, the animal attractions just seemed like an afterthought. Based both on that article and what Kevin says it doesn't sound like they moved her because they didn't want to do the shows they did it for the well being of the animal..but I wonder if they will invest the time and money to find (a) new whale(s) or just abandon the attraction.

^^^Yes, and at that time they may be selling 2013 season passes where you get the rest of 2012 free which I think will just be $60 online or at the gate (but buy online it makes the process a ton smoother) I'm not sure the hours but season pass processing is open before the park opens. You can expect a big line, so I would call and ask SFMM to see when it opens to get to season pass processing somewhat near opening time. Theyve gone up to $75 thoughhttp://content.sixflags.com/magicmountain/tickets/seasonpass

I figured you knew but I didnt think the previous person did, my reply was more for his benefit. I agree with your assessment though you said exactly what I was thinking but didn't want to say Plus it's literally the only coaster there, you'd have to REALLY want to ride Zonga to go through all that. It's probably more of a "if I just happened to for some reason be in Aguascalientes at the right time I might make a side trip" thing, but how likely is that

If you have any respect at all for Anton Schwarzkopf, then it was amazing. If you are typical GP, it "hurt my head!" Personally, I loved it and still think it's one of the best coasters I've ever ridden. I still have one of the queue signs in my room talking about how violent the ride is, I'll post a picture of it tonight when I get home. The ride is still active if you really want to ride it, it is currently operating (with the same paint scheme) as Tsunami at Isla San Marcos Parque Temático in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The park only operates for a few weeks a year though, apprently it's some kind of permanent state fair. OHHHH... So a Multi-Launch coaster isn't really a launched coaster at all? I think he just meant that even though it is a launch coaster, it's different from the two launch coasters that SFDK currently has. To me, something like Manta or Maverick would certainly be different enough from V2 and SUF, I would love to have something like that.

I think you're in for a treat; I've been watching the lines the last few days and it's been laughably dead. Tuesday and Wednesday ~15 minutes for X2 and ~30 for Tatsu at peak. Yesterday everything not named X2 or Tatsu was pretty much a walkon. And yeah lots and lots of sunblock highest SPF you can find, or you will fry. The lack of lines should help though since most of your waiting will be in load stations. It is supposed to be a little cooler today but only by a few degrees, it will still be very hot.

California Screamin' at DCA, although that almost doesn't count it's so tame. My first serious coaster was X. Trial by fire! My dad dragged me on that, I turned to him on the lift hill and said very seriously, "I am not happy about this." lol, sure attitude sure changed once I was done..rode it 4 times that day.

Best And Worst Coaster In California
singemfrc replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Favorite steel: X2 (By far), Tatsu, Hurricane (That last one is a sentimental pick admittedly) Worst steel: There honestly isn't one I dislike..Boomerang (SFDK) would probably be lowest on my list of favorites. Favorite woodie: Giant Dipper (By far), Apocalypse, Colossus Worst woodie: Roar, Grizzly, Psyclone -
X2 is by far my favorite, only 4th dimension coaster in the entire country (There's one in Japan and one in China, that's it). Tatsu is easily the best flying coaster built, Batman and Goliath are extremely solid as well. I haven't been to the park since Green Lantern was built and have never ridden one of those vertical spinners before (I believe that's the first one in the US isnt it?) but it looks fun, I cant wait to try it.
