  1. ^ Just check the dates on the ticket and make sure it includes the date of your visit, as some tickets exclude October (on the website they have fright fest admission tickets good for park admission during october, and regular tickets for admission before or after october)
  2. Portable rides (outside of permanent locations) freak me out..especially Zipper rides at carnivals. When I go to a Six Flags or Cedar Fair park, I don't think twice about safety or maintenance, but at carnivals and fairs it keeps me off the zippers frisbees top spins etc. I would probably have the same reservations about chinese made coasters, so that's probably not the trip for me.
  3. It's pretty well known that I'm the biggest (only?) Kong fan. I'm a sucker for corkscrews or heartlines, even on a Vekoma.
  4. Was just thinking about this last night watching a POV of Ninja (Hiy-ah!), wondering if another would ever be built. That ride needs some serious TLC though, it's gotten pretty rough. Agree these are a great stepping stones for younger riders working up to the bigger rides... but I think that's why they aren't front of mind when a park is considering a new coaster..too often it's either the SFMM mentality of "ZOMG WE NEED MORE INVERSIONS" or just an actual kiddie coaster. While SFMM is an easy target to make fun of, their obsession with having the most coasters means it's actually a good park for those in-between guests being able to ride stuff like Revolution and Ninja before working their way up to Viper and X2.
  5. No he's saying that the park is currently only selling online tickets good for admission days in October. For some reason they aren't selling tickets valid for admission after FF ends. I would check again in a couple weeks. Admission at the park is $64.99, so it's definitely worth checking the website again later.
  6. A drop tower in a park with a 150' height limit would not be very popular.
  7. That's the park operating hours. The short friday hours are actually a recent addition, last time I looked at the schedule it was only Sat/Sun throughout Fright Fest.
  8. Nice! Interestingly the images say "October 2011" yet Deja Vu is clearly open. Dates must be approximate
  9. And that's the other thing that makes SFMM travel worthy even if single coasters arent - it's not the only park in the area, you can fly in and visit SFMM, KBF, and DLR/DCA that are all in the area to make it worth the trip.
  10. I always remind that X2 is the one coaster that I would call world class and is in my opinion worth travelling for if you haven't ridden a 4D before (Im driving 600 miles for it in a couple weeks), but as a whole although SFMM doesn't have any other "travel worthy" coasters, It's still a great destination because there are so many coasters you can spend all day and not ride the same coaster twice, which is great if what you're used to is something like SFDK where you just keep riding Medusa and SUF over and over Plus though theyre lacking in travel worthy coasters, its not like theyre all terrible -Tatsu is outstanding and one of the best of it's kind (I used to say the best but after seeing that Crystal Wing POV, Im not sure anymore!), Riddlers is easily the best standup, Viper is among the best arrow loopers, Scream though lacking in terrain is still a very good B&M, Batman you wouldnt travel for because it's cloned six ways from sunday and it's everywhere but it is still a very solid ride, LLDOD isnt a coaster but it's certainly one of the best if not the best drop tower.. I wish they would add something else earth shattering like Projekt Helix or Outlaw Run, but it's still worth a couple days of my time to go down there.
  11. Wow. I'm tempted to go on tuesday or wednesday.
  12. Helix looks amazing, I'd rather have that than just about any 3D Steel coaster.
  13. Wow wish I could get that..I would definitely marathon that thing! Oh it's still a rough ride, the difference is the orange train is still doable, the yellow train is just a constant fight to not sustain multiple concussions.
  14. I agree and don't see any problem with that, it's how it should be. To me the rides and coasters at SFMM are the main attraction and the Halloween specials are secondary. At Universal it would be completely the opposite, I would expect the HHN to be first rate while the rides might not be.
  15. Yeah I'm going on Sunday the 21st. I've been watching RideHopper every day to watch the queues for the coasters, but it doesn't show the lines for the mazes..the mazes aren't a priority though, we'll probably just do a couple of the good ones as long as the waits aren't north of 60-90. We're going to splurge on a gold flash pass for the other stuff so a few waits for the mazes won't kill us.
  16. How packed is packed? How long were the waits for the mazes?
  17. If I came across that girl sobbing in the maze that would probably make it creepier.
  18. Just checked out the FF music for X2, I actually like that a lot more than the default, I'd prefer they stick with that all the time personally. Fits the ride more IMO.
  19. This was about 9 or 10 pm that they were reported down. (Theyre user/customer generated reports, but all three were reported down and the report stayed posted for 2 hrs, so it probably wasn't fake)
  20. Maybe that section of the park's power went down briefly? Just venturing a guess That was my first guess too. I know the Chupacabra is set up over there I wondered if something happened there that affected the whole area.
  21. Anyone hear why Viper, X2, and Revolution were all reportedly down at the same time tonight?
  22. I can't believe people still run to X2 in the morning. The line will die down to 30 minutes or less at around 4:30 in the afternoon. The only real explanation is they actually been doing really well on dispatches and the back of the park is significantly more crowded that time of day, so no one is in the front riding X2. Thanks I was wondering if it was really that simple. I'll still run in the morning so I can get a couple rides then on top of the rides in the afternoon..I'll take as many X2 rides as I can get!
  23. I run to X-2 in the morning. Then I go to Tatsu. Later in the day I check the lines for Tatsu for a second ride. Then I'll go on Viper. From Vipers hill I take a look at the line for X-2. If it's not too long and they are running two trains, then yes you can get in at 30 to 60 mins. Right I do that as well but Im talking about later in the day when it will often drop down to 10-15 minutes at about 4:30pm. Last time I was there a lady passed out on the ride at about 4:00 and they shut it down for testing so I didn't get to see this first hand.
  24. ^^ It's a Saturday so I doubt it will be dead, but you probably won't need a flash pass just to get through the day unless you have an abnormally high intolerance for long queues like I do I'm going on Sunday 10/21 and I'm expecting a similar crowd..busy due to Fright Fest but not crazy. I'm still getting a gold flash pass even though I could probably do without, and I may splurge on an X2 reservation if I'm not able to sneak a couple rides in in the morning before the line gets long. Speaking of X2..I've heard many people say (And I've seen that it happens) that the X2 line all but disappears at around 4:30 in the afternoon on a lot of days, but I'm curious why that happens.
