Yeah I would recommend doing Calico Mine Ride and also the Timber Mountain Log Ride. Not thrilling, but relaxing and interesting for sure. You should be able to get multiple consecutive rerides on Xcelerator in the morning if you want, always seems to be dead first thing in the morning. Boomerang does indeed suck, I finally got my first ride on that one last week and it's even worse than the one at SFDK.

Its not a bad deal. If you think about any Six Flags or Cedar Fair park you're probably going to pay twice that for admission, so as long as you do more than a couple rides its well worth it. And unlike those parks, if you just want to ride one or two things and leave, you can just purchase individual tickets and it costs less. When I was there the other day all I did was 3 rides on Canyon Blaster and 4 rides on El Loco. That would have been $70 worth of tickets, so I got the $30 wristband. -

If you plan on riding more than 3 times total on the 2 roller coasters, then its worth it right there cause theyre $10 per ride. Youll probably want to ride both and I'm guessing you'll want to ride El Loco more than once cause it's awesome. (Also it's so smooth you could ride it over and over all day) Get the wristband! -
^ I just dont think every coaster should be modified just because it can be modified. I don't think Roar should be modified at the moment because it's a decent ride as is, the recent retracking has made it much more comfortable, and there's just no cause for it at that park right now. That's a small park with a small collection of coasters and limited space where Roar is still pretty popular relative to the other rides in the park. There will probably come a day where that changes, but it's not today. I do agree with Colossus getting converted. It was in declining condition (granted some or a lot of that may have been because of park management's anticipation of the modification, ie the right side) and this will add a new marquee attraction shown off from the parking lot that will pull in new people without actually (completely) removing the iconic Colossus structure. Compared to Apocalypse, on one hand I'd like to see Apocalypse redone because it just basically sucks now and anything is better than what's back there currently, but on the other hand Colossus gives RMC much more to work with and what they came up with is pretty amazing.

^ Expect it to be extremely busy on those days, especially in the evenings. Friday might be manageable but Saturday will be one of the busiest nights of the year since its the last Saturday before Halloween. If you have Sunday morning to pick up any missed rides that might be a good idea. Definitely recommend flash pass/fright pass/whatever theyre calling it for Fright Fest now on Saturday. (Last time I was there during fright fest they didnt have seperate flash passes or skeleton keys for fright fest, they just added the mazes to the regular flash pass units)

There's a difference between the placement of Colossus and the placement of Scream. Colossus is on concrete that is on the very edge of the parking lot while Scream is actually IN the parking lot. What irks me about Scream is not so much that they put it where parking used to be but that they were so incredibly lazy (or cheap) that they couldnt even paint over the parking stripes before they built the coaster. Of course theyve never painted it or really done anything at all to it since it was built either. It doesnt seem like theyve ever done anything to it not required by law.

I mentioned this in the Adventuredome thread yesterday, I loved where when riding The Roller Coaster/Manhattan Express at New York New York in Las Vegas he is complaining about the pain through the whole ride and then when he goes through the dive loop he exclaims "Wait why was that the smoothest part of the ride?"

Yeah Desperado was definitely rougher than Magnum. Magnum wasnt really that bad except on my legs from the airtime, but I was already sore from Mean Streak so its kinda hard to judge. Mean Streak was the only ride I've ever had rougher than Desperado...Mean Streak felt like it was going to give me a hernia, only time I honestly thought I was going to be injured when I got off the ride. Desperado wasnt anywhere near that league, it was just painful to the point of being unfun. Go get the NYNY credit thrillseeker. If you're not especially sensitive to rough rides its not that bad and it offers a pretty nice view. (I love the part in Robb's video when he goes through the dive loop and wonders out loud "Why is that the smoothest part of the ride?" lol) -

Finally got my first visit to the park today. Canyon Blaster was a little rougher than I expected..it was about the same as most Arrow loopers to me. The park was making absolutely no effort to check tickets or wristbands, everyone was just walking on as they pleased. I rode twice, once in front and once in the magic arrow seat. Interesting how its about 90 degrees at the top of the lift hill and about 20 degrees in the tunnel at the end. Not that I don't get it, just interesting. El Loco was different, it had a small queue and they were dilligently checking everyone's tickets/bands. I ended up riding 4 times, once in each seat. Line jumpers were aggravating, which I guess should be expected at Circus Circus, but it was a little annoying the same two kids cut right in front of me two rides in a row. What am I going to do though, yell at kids? It was still only like a 5 minute wait even with the line jumpers, so nothing to get your panties in a bunch about. I think they knew theres nothing anyone could do so they just cut at will. Anyway, very fun ride and very smooth especially considering the elements. Only con is it seems even shorter when riding than it did watching the POV initially. Very fun and different ride though, I loved it. I also decided (for some reason) to go down to Primm and ride the Desperado. Now I had previously ridden Manhattan Express at NYNY which I didn't think was nearly as bad as everyone complains about, and I rode it 10 times in a row no problem. Desperado, however, is every bit as bad as Robb's video makes it out to be. It feels like there's quite a bit of play in between the upstop wheels and the track. Any time the car goes into a valley its like the entire train just thuds into the bottom of it. There also seems to be no give whatsoever horizontally as the train throws you left and right like a rag doll through the turns. I managed to ride it twice (with a healthy break in between rides) just to get my money's worth for the $15. I was planning on 3 rides but scratched the third. I rode it in the front row the first time, then thought maybe it wont be quite as bad in the middle (it was) and then thought no way am I riding this in the back row. I did like the serious ejector airtime over one of the hills and the little helix through the building was cool, but the rest of that ride can die in a fire. -
Yeah and come to think of it I don't think you can get photos of this from the currently accessible areas of the park, I think you'd have to be in the Colossus station which is closed. (Trying to think, maybe you could see it from nearby but not sure) It's possible the person who got those photos got permission from the park to go in there, but I'll play it safe and not mention their name or site here just in case. Someone from here who's close by will have to go by there and see, and if you can get a photo from an accessible area, please post it.

This one's easy. When they don't clean & maintain the look of the area and it ends up looking abused and trashy, they can just claim that the trashy appearance is part of the area's theme. Just one time I want a park to be honest and build "We're Not Motivated Enough to Properly Clean This Area" Land. Ive always thought that might have been part of the reason they wanted to install Batman and Apocalypse, both are themed in such a way that neglect can seem to add to the theming.
-
Ive always said its not just the lack of theming, it's not that Scream occupies land that was once a parking lot. But they didn't even take the time to paint over the parking lines, thats serious laziness. Coupled with the fact that it's never been painted since it was built and it just gives off the impression that the park doesn't care about it. It's not a bad coaster all things being equal, but it's seriously neglected and always has been. It should have been named Afterthought: The Ride. ^ Flashback, Psyclone, and Deja Vu were all coasters that necessitated removal due to condition. They didn't have a choice at all with Flashback and Psyclone, Deja Vu arguably they could have kept it but werent willing to deal with the maintenance headache. Different situations.

^ I definitely will. This is an incredibly long time anticipated ride. I went to KBF twice when I was little in 1985 and 1992 and I remember seeing it but not being able to (first time) or willing to (both times) ride it. I then went to KBF in April looking forward to it only to find it in maintenance. Thursday's trip is specifically to get that missing credit, though I will also pick up some repeats on Silver Bullet that I could only get on once last time due to the park being so busy and a ride on Calico which was also closed at the time. Also looking forward to getting a boysenberry churro and some fried chicken!
