I've gotten to the point where for the most part I don't even notice the angle of the drop anymore. The ones I really like are Maverick and El Loco, both are extremely steep. Those still kinda take my breath away. That goes without saying! It's not "scary" anymore, but that is still my favorite single element of any coaster.

I don't care if the ride op's ride. But when they do it just to make sure Green Lantern doesn't spin anymore that's where theres a issue. I know SFMM ordered the ride op's to counter-balence the cars so it doesn't spin about 20 seconds after it opened or so. But I still think it's bullshit to operate a ZacSpin so that it doesn't well, spin. It might be a decent pelvic bone buster, but I don't think thats worth the wait. Riding with the other side of the car empty will not deliver an enjoyable experience. Says you. My best rides have been with the other side of the car empty.

....orrrr they're a fail-safe in case the restraint malfunctions. Even though it's highly unlikely, it's still possible. You can't take any chances. On older rides and those with plain mechanical/ratcheting restraints, sure, but on brand new rides with hydraulic restraints no. will is correct, theyre mostly used to make sure the guest fits properly in the seat, and also they make guests who don't know alot about the restraints (like yourself) feel safer. In reality modern hydraulic restraints require many many times more force than the coaster or rider is capable of delivering to open them. Even still, they have redundancies built in so in the astronomically rare chance that it were to fail, it still would not release. They require a specific voltage electrical current be applied to open them. Normally the station applies that current; in the event of an evacuation, the mechanic has to bring a portable device out to the train and plug it into the car to release the riders. There's practically no question that the rides will have the selt belts though, Six Flags requires them in California on any inverting coaster that doesnt have an OTSR. They were recently added to Goliath and YOLO which did not have them when originally installed.

I think Riddler's Revenge is the best stand up coaster in the world, keeping it as it is and let Scream get all rusty and forgotten is better. The world needs at least one decent stand up coaster. This is basically the difference. MM already has a B&M floorless sit down, and seeing as RR is actually more popular than Scream, it would make no sense at all to turn RR into another floorless. If in the future Scream is removed for whatever reason, then I could see the possibility of converting RR.

I dont think he jumped the queue, it sounds just walked up to the Flash Pass employee from outside the queue who told him he could ride as a single. I really wish MM would deploy more single rider lines..I don't see a good reason not to for almost every coaster (X2 might be a bit of a logistical challenge the way the station is laid out). Your trains leave full, your standby queue is shorter, and single riders are happy. Everyone wins.

^^ I get that it could be a buzzkill, but for me personally after a buzzkill like that it would just motivate me more to go jump on something exciting. I have been evac'd from a coaster before, from V2 last year, and I was stuck there for a good half hour. When I finally got liberated from that seat (hydraulic restraints required special machinery to open the restraints outside of the station) I was dying to go jump on another coaster.

And ironically you missed the one that most people would have made sure not to miss since it's the only one on this side of the planet, thats the part I don't understand. If you had Viper and Scream left to go, I would understand just saying "meh" and calling it quits. On my first visit to SFMM, X was by far the most interesting prospect.

These are making the rounds on Facebook at the moment. I'll just quote what I said on Facebook in reply to the person who posted it. For some reason when someone prints text on paper and then takes a photo of it and puts it on Facebook people think it's more credible than if they just typed it. Sadly people tend to just believe anything they see on Facebook either way.

How can I judge what constitutes busy on the day? Can the Flash Pass be bought once you are in the park? Do they ever sell out? Thanks Sell outs are very very rare. Only on the absolute busiest of days might that happen..I've been there on some pretty busy days and all three flash passes were available. You can definitely buy them in the park. With the exception of the one time a friend convinced me to go on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend when I knew it would be a mad house and bought ahead of time, every other time I've bought mine in the park. The Flash Pass office is inside the gates (behind Flags and the Carousel). In February you guys should be fine unless they schedule an event that day or something. School is in, Twisted Colossus won't be finished yet, weather is likely to be imperfect..everything you could want for a slow day. If you were going any day of the week other than Saturday I'd guarantee it'd be totally dead. Even still it shouldn't be bad.

Between the wind wanting to close the screen, the sun glaring and blocking your view, and the vibration making it tough to focus, that seems really really difficult. I'm impressed the one guy got as far as he did. I can't believe they did as few laps as they did though..I could ride Medusa pretty much infinitely, it's one of the most comfortable and non nauseating coasters I've ever ridden. Would be interesting to see this done on El Loco in Vegas, where there's no sun, almost no vibration, and almost no wind. Or you could go the other way and see it on something like X2 or Green Lantern at SFMM which would be absolutely insane.
