  1. Chuck, thanks for sharing, great TR. That park is such a prefect balance of atmosphere and great attractions, even more so with the animals. Just one serious issue. That pic of you and the lamb was a bit too cutesy. It made me for forget for a moment that one will be on my dinner plate for Easter. I don't know if I can eat it now LoL
  2. Great pics, thanks for sharing! Definitely have to visit a Disney park at some point again. Been 9 years and counting lol.
  3. I remember Robb saying that what we saw in the animation and pics is what we are going to get in terms of trains. That should be a minor consideration since you guys now have a massive 300' coaster. That is just awesome. Would love to see one up here one day. That is one spectacular attraction. Huge 'wow' factor, even just by looking at some of the great pics posted here. I'm so tempted to make a trip down to Virginia this spring and definitely make KD part of it, without a doubt. I guess that'll mean a Platinum Pass where the parking could actually come in handy. Out of curiosity, is Richmond Airport the closest? haha
  4. Hanno, thanks for keeping this up. Fantastic pics as usual. I still haven't started my Scandi posts yet but it's intimidating following your amazing pics haha. Mattias is right, you captured the park in an amazing way. Grona Lund had such a cool collection of rides in a great setting. Even in the US, something about parks on the water or beachfront that really add something special to the atmosphere. Insane + flipping over the edge and seeing nothing but sky/ water/ sky/ water....that was definitely something special. Wow, I forgot how tall that drop tower is, my hands are clammy again LoL
  5. Heya, thanks for sharing! Great off season pics. I love this park. Small it may be but it's all quality. Definitely worth the drive if you can make it back during the season. J
  6. Robb, thank you. I would honestly just attribute it to people being really excited by it and all its potential. This is a good thing and to be expected. You are managing expectations well I think by responding to everyone in a very honest way. I think everyone needs to remember that this was started only a few months ago. Understanding how any club works, the charter/ founding year is generally a year of offering a few great things while giving an idea of many more great things and possibilities to come as the years progress and the club builds and matures. It takes years to develop a relationship with any partner. Knowing that, the list we have so far is exceptional given that the club hasn’t even launched yet and so many parks are willing to give it a chance. It's even cooler knowing that there could very well be more surprises for the actual launch. That speaks extremely highly of Robb and Elissa, without a doubt. The rest will depend on how great we make it as members and how we conduct ourselves at each park, whether on the list or not in its founding year. So with that, thanks for everything done so far, it’s going to be great based on what we’ve all seen. Hopefully everyone understands that, no matter how excited we all are and how crazy our imaginations get.
  7. That was a ton of fun. Vissioneer, Hyyyper, J Man...awesome stuff. I'm a bit bummed that the meatball is gone....that was for sure my one of my favourites.
  8. Hanno, fantastic pics! You got some great ones of Tranan doing it's crazy maneuvers. Very frightening feelings in such an open seating position lol. Definitely another great day.
  9. Divv, great TR! Glad you guys are having an awesome time.
  10. I think the name of Six Flags' owner/ parent company is still Premier International Holdings.
  11. Please feel free to correct. I think this is standard stuff in lease agreements. Reality15 is on the money. From my old law classes generally fixtures/ leasehold improvements are items or improvements added that can not be removed without altering the basic purpose of what is being leased. In this case, a fair ground. So anything built to service the land and visitors as a fair ground (roads, paving, gas lines, electrical lines, buildings, other permanent installations etc) can not be removed. Obviously it’s not clear as to how permanent ride installations are categorized. Given that most rides at commercial parks are considered a “permanent” installation if not ‘portable/ travelling’ they could very well fit within the definition of a ‘fixture’ built to enhance the leased property and the lessee’s business. They can’t be removed if that’s the case since they made money off of the leased land by installing that fixture. You can look to cases where rides are re-located constantly to argue that they are not permanent fixtures and therefore remain the non-permanent property of the lessee and can be removed. I'm not sure as to who paid for the installation will have any influence. Of course, my understanding is from another country so should be cool to learn more about US laws and see how this plays out. In comparable situation, I wonder what the agreement is like at La Ronde and what would happen if the city or Six Flags decided to end their management contract. I’m not sure if they lease the land from the city or are third party managers who take a cut of revenue.
  12. I believe it’s true that Myrtle Beach attracts a good number of vacationers from everywhere, especially up here. I think their positioning strategy works extremely well as a destination given its popularity up here. That being said, its focus is very narrow that I’m not sure how those who they attract would be interested in an amusement park once there. Freestyle Music Park isn’t even on the radar as a reason to visit. As early as yesterday, even the beach isn’t promoted in their general radio advertising. Myrtle Beach advertising only happens in the winter. When many up here think Myrtle Beach, the only thing that comes to mind is a winter golf getaway. So unless you’re a golfer, there’s no enticement to go online or go to a travel agency and pick up a Myrtle Beach brochure to find out if maybe there might be something else to do. The older or retired ‘golf vacation’ crowd in general isn’t interested in the beach, let alone an amusement park. I honestly didn’t even realize that its beach had any type of draw until this park’s location was being discussed. If Myrtle Beach is not known outside of state lines as anything but a golf or local/ neighboring state beach destination, how would they expect the influx of golfers (as an example) to change their plans and visit an amusement park? Wouldn’t their own national/ international marketing plan that included re-shaping Myrtle Beach’s overall positioning have helped outside of relying on a restaurant chain’s name? I did always wish them well and hoped that they knew what they were doing but it just wasn’t obvious and in the end, obviously isn’t working as hoped. I don’t golf personally, so based on my understanding of Myrtle Beach, I never once considered it a destination of interest. Again as an example, imagine if golfers knew that, if they chose, they could take their spouses, kids and non-golfer friends knowing that there was a lot of other stuff to do?
  13. This is such an amazing alternative to other clubs out there. Thanks to you both for putting something like this together in what I would think is record time. It's so cool seeing so many ideas everyone discussed worked in. Looking forward to March!
  14. ^Jon, for sure. Unfortunately, the rain has also managed to remain part of that tradition. Hopefully it won't tag along next time lol. Had a chance to watch the entire DVD, great stuff! Did the idea of of supplying a bunch of us with camcorders work out footage-wise? I can only imagine what a monster job it must have been to sort through and edit. It was definitely a cool idea. CE 13 is a perfect combination of Tony awkwardness, respect for the power of mayo and phenomenal coaster footage. The video quality is amazing on a big screen. Robb, Elissa, Erik and Tyler, thanks for another great video. Cheers, J
  15. Wow, just makes you remember how awesome that trip was, especially Liseberg. I feel honoured that my foot and shoe were filler to the pic of the featured feet and shoes LoL Fantastic pictures Hanno. Cheers, Jason
  16. Awesome video! Lots of great memories. Thank you for posting. ^^Good times for sure! It's become and October tradition I think. We'll have to try it out again in 2010.
  17. Wow, thankfully that lady banged on the window. Glad you and everyone are ok.
  18. Robb, Elissa and all editors: Congratulations on pumping out another one of these epic DVDs! Really looking forward to seeing it. I think it's sitting in customs for an extended period per usual. They say it's because we're each other's biggest trading partners so the backups are always intense.....but I just think they're watching the DVD and don't want to give it up lol Cheers, Jason Edit: ^Mike, you were happy that day. See, Knoebels is that good!
  19. ^^^Hmm...I think the logic would be more like Intamin would never come up with such a concept, and perhaps for good reason. But you never know lol. Leave it Vekoma to come up with a ride where a position of submission is mandatory. Regardless, should be cool to see and try.
  20. Wow, so many to choose from? lol I guess I personally judge by the ones that felt like I've been punctured and have given me many bruises for a few days at minimum. It's a always a challenge to try and see what the fuss is about but man, some lessons in hurt taken away. Laughing and yelling throughout seems to make the experience fun in a horrid way. I guess that's why I'd maybe like to try SoB if it ever opens up again one day LoL The most painful experiences to date: 1)Riding the back seat of Wild Cat at Lake Compounce. Cora, you remember that? LoL Seriously, it actually hurt to breathe after that one. 2) Hurler at Kings Dominion. We have a 'group hurt' shot of the East Coast group after that one, says it all. 3)Finally, after riding this many times before not more than half way back, I decided to try the back row of the Coney Island Cyclone - a discombobulating experience to be sure. Ok, I wouldn't be from the area if I didn't give a special shout out to Time Warp at CW!
  21. This is really funny. The ones that made me laugh the most so far are Emiroo's and king of Ka's. Angry_Gumball, props for the current event tie in -- looks awesome! Can't wait to see more! I wish I had Photoshop now.
  22. Thanks for posting Shane. Only been on one, Ravine Flyer II, and it was really good. Looking forward to trying out a Timberliner train at some point.
  23. Looks like an awesome weekend! The first of many for that Canadian dude I bet...haha Cheers, J
  24. Robb, looks great. That couldn't have been an easy task so kudos! Like others on here, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it in use. Cheers, J
