  1. That place looks pretty cool. I know they don't have a bunch of powerhouse coasters, but it looks like a fun place to visit.
  2. The people at this site are PISSED . . . http://www.sixflagsneworleans.com/
  3. Great trip update! The turtle-on-turtle action shot really added a bit of sophication that most PTRs lack. I'm moving to CT in August and can't wait to go back to SFNE. I've not visited other east coast parks like Lake Compounce, SFGA, the PA parks, etc. I can't wait to get up there.
  4. What a bunch of morons. At least this guy is level headed and isn't reactionary.
  5. Does the trip ever end?
  6. Elissa . . . when you have a minute, I'd like the doohickey under my name to say . . .The Real Deal 'nuff said. I'll be sporting a new avatar soon . . .
  7. I was thinking the exact same thing . . .they probably have a higher number of ride injuries compared to other parks, but as a percentage of overall park visitors, I'd bet they are on par with their competition.
  8. WTF is up with Disney and their streak of horrible luck (for lack of a better word)? I'm sure the safety alarmists will climb out of the woodworks and the government will want to limit future coasters and other rides. No one knows yet if this kid had some type of pre-existing condition like heart problems? Isn't that what a few of the others had when they were on Mission: Space? What are they going to do now? Is there going to be a RnR-lite version now? This is ridiculous. Perhaps a physician at each queue line is needed.
  9. Well, no, we haven't met. I suspected you did. I didn't know if you had some type of beer collection you were saving them for once you got back to the states. I used to save the empty bottles from some cool ones I like, but that got to be too much of a hassle carrying them all over the place. If you go on the midwest TPR trip in '07, we'll meet - I'm going to try like hell to get a spot. I'm in search of a Sam Adams Triple Bock. The beer selection here in Louisiana sucks, but I'm moving to Connecticut in August, so hopefully I'll have more to select from. Anyway, I'm completely jealous of the UK trip. Thanks for all of the great pics.
  10. . . .good stuff . . . Did you end up drinking all of the beer you bought?
  11. I'm trying to plan my coaster trips for next summer. The midwest trip will work out nicely. Anyone a member of The Coaster Crew in here? I'm going to try to hit one of their trips, too, in 2007.
  12. Good luck with the brew. Keep us posted on how it turns out. Do you plan on filtering after fermentation? For my first brew, I regret not filtering to remove the chill haze. It turned out great, but it was a bit cloudy. It was one yummy IPA.
  13. I'm moving from Louisiana to Connecticut this summer and I'm really excited to be much closer to SFNE, Dorney, Hershey, etc. Hopefully my first TPR event will be for Hershey's 100th!
  14. I'll be making my first trip to SFGA in August, so I'm glad to hear KK is on the mend. I hope El Toro doesn't have any problems so I can hit that up, too. My debut appearance to SFNE is next week, so I'm excited about that! ALL HAIL SIX FLAGS!
  15. Guiness here. . . .
  16. I was surprised that not much was made of TTD and KK. Did they even show KK at all? I was cooking and watching, so I might have missed it.
  17. Mega Zyph at SFNew Orleans. Hopefully it will up and running again. . . . http://www.rcdb.com/ig589.htm?picture=5
  18. S H E I K R A! http://www.rcdb.com/ig2662.htm?picture=69
  19. Sorry CoasterExpert13: Reno911 is cool. You say it is overrated, but I'm the only person I know that watches it. I've got it all on DVDs. Thundercats was awesome, too. The Mole (the first two seasons with AC) were really neat. It was a great mix of mind and body challenges. That is all for now//
  20. I've been wanting to switch my email address to GMail. I was wondering if anyone has GMail and if it sucks. I like the idea that I can use a POP3 mail client to check my messages (it is a premimum service with Yahoo and others). I created an account at Google and then learned that you have to be invited to join GMail (or I can join with a cell phone using SMS or something). I don't have a cell phone - if someone has GMail - email me an invitation!! dchauvin@lumcon.edu
  21. I assume you are talking to me. I got paid the same amount to refer to AAR and Pandora as you did suggesting Fat Lip.
  22. Well, I don't listen to music much anymore. I'm addicted to talk radio. Currently, I'm listening to the Mike Malloy show on Air America Radio. Good stuff. www.airamericaradio.com A cool music tool that I came across the other day was Pandora at www.pandora.com. It is a tool you can use to listen to different types of music. For example, if you enter an artist/song you really like. It looks up the musical characteristics of the work and plays similar songs - not necessarily by the same artist. It is a great way to hear new bands and performers. It is free to use. Check it out: www.pandora.com. Let me know how you like it.
  23. Okay, so I made it back to Louisiana. We were expecting better conditions here in Houma, but there was moderate damage to structures. The biggest problem was NO ELECTRICITY. Remember I was supposed to get married on Sept. 3. So, when we got back, we had to call all of the wedding people (caterer, flower lady, etc). The church, reception hall, and rehearsal dinner restaurant were without electricity. Somehow, the electricity all came back on at the right time and the wedding went on without a hitch. So, I'm married now. Unfortunately, 3 out of my 4 groomsmen couldn't make it, so I only had my one local guy. The others were coming from Nashville and New Mexico. FEMA bought out ALL rentable apartments in my complex as well as all other apartments in the city and other surrounding areas. We have a medium-sized civic center that is being used as an evacuation shelter. This stuff is too unbelievable. But, we all knew this would happen one day. . . I'm leaving tomorrow to go on my honeymoon (Universal Orlando and BG, Tampa). I'm excited to get out of here. I'll be sure to post some shots of our wedding and our honeymoon when I get back!! Thanks for all of the thoughts from you guys. Dean
  24. Okay. It seems that my hometown was pretty much spared. There is moderate damage, but the entire area from points east and west of Houma are completely without power. The estimation on when it will be restored - as early as tomorrow to as late as a few weeks from now. Not pleasant. Remember I'm supposed to get married this coming weekend (Sept. 3). SFNO is on the east side of NO. That was the side of NO that caught an unbelievable amount of rain and storm surge. There are stories out that people retreated to their attics because of the rising water. The water kept coming up and they eventually drowned in their attic because they couldn't get out. I think it is safe to say that SFNO is under water. I don't know what the status is of the coasters and other tall structures are. I'll try to find out and let you know. We are heading back to Houma tomorrow. It may be a long time before I get electricity, so I don't know when I'll get to post again. Thanks for everyone's posts and encouragement. I'll be in touch. Dean
