  1. Wow! I like DLP and Crush's Coaster looks like fun, as does Big Thunder Mountain. You may have just given us a preview to the Cars themeing and decor awaiting DCA. Well done.
  2. Those are some terrific pics! Love the composition on several of the Dominator shots. Have to agree with you on Grizzly Run. Dunno who the company is that makes the boats without the seat backs, but they just look cheap.
  3. Now cut that out! This thread's supposed to be about customizing stuff. I used to have a blast customizing cars in Need for Speed Underground 2. Love Tuner culture and Lowriders, but too expensive for me. The creativity and imagination that goes into those custom cars is just awesome.
  4. LOL! I didn't think the picture was THAT bad. Kinda cheesey, sure, but this is a whole new level. Thanks Homer, for yet another good laugh, and the compliment. EDIT:Dunno why this triple posted, but it's fixed. As far as the pole goes, I had to vote for Rob on this one.
  5. Something tells me this is going to be an entertaining TR. Off to a good start and looking forward to the rest. Don't worry, I'm also one of those "stop every 2 feet and take picture" sorts. Waddya gonna do? BTW, You guys make a good couple.
  6. Man I enjoyed this one and it brought back some good DC memories. Glad you posted this. Noticed you said poignant about the Vietnam Memorial. When I visited, even before you got within 30 feet of it, there was a great heaviness and sadness that hit you. I didn't really appreciate the situation or the sacrifice fully, but it was a deeply moving feeling. Heavy. Ominous. I'll never ever forget that. Good twist on that joke. As for the whole Macaroni Grill vs. Carrabba's debate, gonna have to good-naturedly disagree. Ultimately though, I think we both agree on good Italian food, eh? Good TR.
  7. ^^ Yes? Know there's a joke or a light-hearted poke here, but I'm missing it. That picture is going to haunt me, isn't it?
  8. LOL! I didn't even make it past the first question on the first try. That's a cool game.
  9. Any guy who plays bass that intensely, while sporting a mohawk and stuff animals tied to his pants, is my kind of guy. Artistic, eccentric, and just nucking futs. Makes me want to download Higher Ground and YoungMC's Bust a Move. Wes, good one.
  10. Sniff....it's.....just ......beautiful. Somebody pass the Kleenex..
  11. In curious way, this nods back to the turn of the century and the early days, particularly the races to build bigger and better wood coasters. Though more modern in some ways, this race has a similar charm. As for these massive new wheels, it really is a marvel how these things go together. The creativity, balance, and design is really staggering. After watching some of the rides go up at Mall of America, I have a new appreciation of how rides are designed and built. Coaster Joe, I understood everything you just said and whole-heartily agree. It's technical, sculptural and mechanical art in it's own way...and it's just REALLY FREAKING COOL!
  12. You know, I just realized that some of the Idols aren't doing so hot and even one or two have been dropped from their contracts. This isn't the best foundation to build an attraction on. Though I disagree, I wish them luck and will just leave it at that.
  13. Wow! Sorry that happened to you. That's a shame. A business associate and I almost went there one night for dinner last year. Glad I opted for the local chinese delivery which was really good.
  14. Another update?! Now this is turning into a good weekend. Glad to see it. Half the fun of travel is the random wierdness that just happens, like the typhoon and getting stuck in the train station. Glad all worked out for the best. (looks around innocently and twiddles thumbs) doop doop de doo.....
  15. A lady and sister DP fan at work recently discovered the power that is the DPJB. DP, popcorn, and A&W make for a great combo. Speaking of food and sodas, I'm interested in seeing the new Pepsi Orange Streak train shells. That is one coaster, for brilliant acronym alone, I must ride. POS.
  16. Commendable optimism, however, lady luck was not on my side back then. Hope you fair better. When I told the guys at work about this and sent them the pic to laugh at, I became one of our part-timer's desktop back ground. It was so bad, there wasn't a dry eye in the room from all the laughing. Good good laughs this week. Now, I did hear a story of really bad service from some of my parent's friends a few years ago. Don't remember everything, but the man ordered a hamburger, but forgot something and went back to the cook's window to say something. The cook at this mom and pop place had his stained wife-beater pulled up, and was patting out the burger patties on his hairy, sticking out, stomach. They left faster than Top Thrill Dragster in top form.
  17. It's safe to say this is going to be "the bomb"....one way or another.
  18. Slightly off topic, but, astroworldfan1, you should try the Dr. Pepper flavored Jelly Bellys at Target (or where ever you can find them). Goooood stuff. Liking the SB themeing so far, but as somebody a page or so ago pointed out, it'll really overpower Ghost Blasters. It seems the only way to artistically balance the decor out, is to add more to Ghost Blasters. Just something that struck me later than the original poster. (Raises eyebrow at the airplane ride weight capacity) 180 lbs, eh? I know very few adults that weigh 180, unless they are extremely sick, have food disorders, or just incredible metabolisms. Even the 220 lb weight limit on the average butterfly chair is pretty strict, and that's more than the ride. This isn't going to fly well, on several levels. Now we come back to the last part of the "Compliment Sandwhich", and that is, I'm glad to see the progress. Bravo build teams!
  19. Will, just awesoeme! Big cool points for creativity and imagination.
  20. AutoCAD is tough. 3D in AutoCAD is REALLY tough. Seriously. Awesome. Work. Period.
  21. Oh sweet baby jesus NOOOOOOOOOOO! I'm both honored and horrified, yet laughing at the absurdity. Well, after some heavy stuff this week, I needed a good laugh, so thank you.
  22. Ouch! On a lot of levels ouch!...just....ouch!
  23. When I was at college in Nashville, my family came into town one weekend and we had breakfast at the Holiday Inn Crown plaza down town (I think it's something else now, but it has the rotating restaurant on top). Anyway, I was very skinny and had long hair and a recently grown mustache, and was reading the menu. Our waitress took my parent's orders and then said to me "what would you like ma'am?" I lowered the menu and before I could say anything, she sucked in her breath, turned pale white and said "Oh God, I am soooo sorry. It was the hair, and I thought you were a girl. Oh I'm sooo sorry." This lady was obviously used to some very temperamental customers and went straight into damage control mode. I smiled at the waitress and said "I don't know about her (points to mother) but I'll have the pancakes." We all laughed and the sky never fell, plus, I got mistaken for a girl all the time with my hair. No big whoop. Growing the mustache ended up futile. Oh well. That's about the worst service I've ever had, and it wasn't bad at all. Just lucky I 'spose. Just to illustrate the point.
  24. ^ Thanks for (re?) posting those. Looks like it's coming along swimmingly.
  25. You had me smiling at the Archery part. You had me laughing at the following: And that was a clever and well positioned reflection pic in the elevator. Nicely done. Enjoyed this latest installment. Thank you!
