Orange and black? The rendering had it as red and yellow. I was referring to the black supports, and the red looked more like a deep orange to me in the animation. Looking at the animation again it does look a bit more red than orange, but it's certainly not a Superman-color red. Regardless, I prefer the colors over the Joker purple/green, and I feel it would stand out better at this park.

If true, I'm not a fan. I hate the TM name, but the orange/black is a really nice combo and unique to the park. We already have a green/black coaster in Green Lantern, and a purple coaster in Bizarro. Also, this will make it a 4th different area of the park where there's a comic book themed coaster.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Nitro1118 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
More subtle change than I expected, which is a good thing. It is very refreshing to see a park invest so much on a yearly basis to maintain their wooden coasters, which most parks neglect and eventually tear down. GCI is very good at these jobs and I imagine this rehab being well-done. I'm also glad they avoided adding an inversion as I feel an RMC with 2-3 inversion is the most logical next step for HW. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Nitro1118 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually had recorded this special on DC when I was 11. It was at a time when DC also aired a special on the top 10 wood/steel coasters in the world (with POV's), and a special documenting a group of rider's trying to break the record for most differenrt coaster rides un a 24 hour period (they did it in Cali and did end up breaking the record with like 35). Back then, Youtube wasn't around, so these specials and, a little later, Robb's "Coasters in the Raw" videos were the only proper way if getting my enthusiast fix. Ahhh, the good 'ol days!! -
I'd be so disappointed if they took out Dragon Challenge. I haven't ridden it since the trasformation/neutering, but both sides were excellent coasters with unique layouts for inverts. I don't see why they couldn't just do a massive facelift to the theming, and add enough on-ride elements (fire, fog, maybe a tunnel) to garner interest from the GP and fit in with Harry Potter. It'd be such a shame if it was removed.

Out of those I've seen in person: -Millennium Force's lift/drop...THE most beautiful and iconic element of any coaster, anywhere. -Wicked Cyclone's 200 degree stall. Especially the view from the stairs leading to the station. Extremely twisted but smooth and graceful. -Talon's immelman. The colors, underground trench and perfect shaping make it sexy eye candy for enthusiasts. -Superman: The Ride's dive into 2nd underground tunnel. I love underground tunnels, and tge interaction this one has with the pathways make it awesome. Incredible Hulk's cobra roll. Another iconic shot.

I'm personally not the biggest fan of Zumanjaro. I love the views and speed as you get close to the bottom of the drop, but there is zero airtime or "suddeness" to the drop. Personally, I much prefer Intamin 1st gen freefalls, S&S and Larson towers. Still a good ride that filled a huge void since the departure of Freedall

I don't know what they've done to it, but the last 2 years it has felt like Bruce Wayne mixed 5 Hour Energy with 2 Red Bulls and sniffed a line of coke before throwing on the Batsuit...in other words, it's been running insanely fast these 2 years!! And I'm saying that with 17 years of having a season pass as an enthusiast. Every transition feels snappier and more forceful than ever. I wonder if other people with different SF homeparks have noticed the same thing with their own B:TR clones?

Kingda Ka in the front row is a totally different animal...it's like the difference of riding Skull Mountain in the back compared to 3rd row. Besides El Toro in 2nd to last row, KK in the front, especially at night, is the best experience in the whole park. Anyway, my top 10: 1) El Toro 2) Nitro 3) Kingda Ka. 4) Batman 5) Bizarro 6) Superman 7) Zumanjaro 8) Skull Mountain 9) Houdini 10) Green Lantern (over-hated, front row provides a very solid ride)

Phantasialand Discussion Thread

Honestly, while amazingly detailed, I thought the rock structure was extremely ugly before. Now that the rest of the architecture is shaping up, I gotta say it's starting to look very spectacular. I don't ever plan on making the trek out there from NJ, but am looking forward to see the POV of this beast. -
Only reasons I feel it's a possibility for 2017 is... 1) They have talked about one of their major focuses being refurbrishing and reopening dead areas of the park. This year, it was the Lakefront. The next logical step is Old Country. 2) Even though SF has skimped on huge additions every year, GAdv has been one of the most spoiled. A nice flat package in 2012 with Skyscreamer, expensive and expansive renovation of the safari in 2013, record breaking drop tower in 2014, HITP and El Diablo in 2015, and a new coaster for 2016. By the eye test, the park had a huge 2015 season attendance and profit-wise, with HITP also doibg very well. I feel there is a good chance SF makes one final big investmenr for 2017 to round things out before a few "down" years. 3) They did send out a survey with the T-Rex animation months before the T-Rex concept was announced, with the ride themed to Batman. The footprint of the coaster + the proposed theme would fit perfectly in that location. It might be a stretch for 2017, but by 2018 I do expect a new RMC installation at the park.

Not necessarily, especially if it's a single track dueling coaster like TC. And even if it is short, I'm fine with that. We have multiple long, complete circuit coasters with substance. I feel Chiller really completed our lineup those two years it was open after El Toro was built. An RMC launched coaster would be a sensational attraction regardless of length, and would be one of the very few coaster types to actually be unique within our lineup. I definitely feel it would put us in the convo with SFMM and CP as the best coaster lineup in the world.

Coasters at Night
Nitro1118 replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Boulder Dash is the best night experience on a coaster I've had. El Toro, Nitro, S:TR, MF, KK in the front row, Voyage and Apollo's Chariot are also clearly better during nightfall -
Do enthusiast opinions matter?
Nitro1118 replied to neil009's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To parks, yes, they do. Enthusiasts buy the season passes, get dining plans, post on park FB pages as well as other forms of media, give parks free promotion through word of mouth, attend various special events hosted by the park, etc... Do our opinion's dictate whether our homepark will add an Intamin PnP wooden coaster over a B&M wing coaster? Absolutely not. But I do feel we are valued in the industry, and our fanboyism can be the difference in dictating smaller changes. And I do feel the difference in our opinion's versus the GP is greatly exaggerated. Generally speaking, I feel our favorites generally line up with what the "adult" GP feel as well. I do feel they have a greater tendency to gravitate to more comfortable, high capacity attractions (like most B&M's) compared to us enthusiasts, who may be more willing to bite the bullet for the biggest thrill, but I don't think the gap is that vast. -
What is your favorite coaster logo?
Nitro1118 replied to I love pie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Millennium Force, no doubt. Even 16 years later it looks fresh and futuristic. El Toro is my 2nd favorite and fits perfectly with the theme and ride. -
Least Favorite B&M?
Nitro1118 replied to thecoasterdude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Apolalypse at SFA. Personally, I find GL pretty enjoyable. As long as you make sure there is some space between your junk and the seat, and don't let your head bobble on every little turn, it is actually a forceful ride with good layout. This year I didn't even find it to be the roughest B&M in the park...that title went to Namtab towards the back of the train. IMO, Athat had the most headbanging of any B&M I've ever ridden. -

At GAdv, I'd say Green Lantern. Now, it is a solid coaster and does garner lines, but it is often overlooked and greeted with lukewarm responses by the public. Ot never really gained much traction or interest. Considering the cost of relocation, the big plot of land it uses, and the fact that GAdv is an awfully important park to be taking in relocated coasters (along with smaller SF parks that could have really benefited from GL), I don't feel the ride ever made sense for the park.

What is the best floorless?
Nitro1118 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My rankings: 1) Kraken 2) Dominator (rode it only as B:KF) 3) Bizarro 4) Batman: Dark Knight 5) Hydra Kraken and Dominator are close. Dominator is the most intense floorless I've ridden with an amazing vertical loop, but Kraken has a better variety of elements (including the sacred post-MCBR vertical loop) and theming elements. -
Front Seat Vs. Back Seat Coasters.
Nitro1118 replied to Physical's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Generally speaking, I prefer front row on all floorless coasters, boomerangs and most launched coasters. Every other coaster I prefer back row. Superman: The Ride is the most glaring exception. The view, smoothness and airtime are all much better in the front row.
