  1. Hey guys, looking for your experienced input... I'mg going to take my 6 year old son on a Saturday within the next few weeks, and am wondering if you think all of Plane Snoopy and Kidzville can be done in a day given their limited hours. I was hoping to squeeze in a few other rides throughout the park. Also, has anyone done Dinosaurs Alive? Is it worth it for a kid who's into dinosaurs, and how long would it take to go through it? Thanks.
  2. Are there any planned get togethers at Wonderland this summer? My wife get sick in the car much less on Leviathan so I don't really have anyone to go to the park with. I was going to attend the TPR Leviathan bash and paid for my ticket but at the last minute I had to bow out due to a family emergency and have only been once ever since.
  3. Arrive as early as you can and ride Guardian of Wonder Mountain and The Bat first. They are not covered by any of the fast passes and due to their low ridership numbers a long line establishes quickly and can be constant throughout the day.
  4. Does it do that when you try running the game or when you try opening a park?
  5. I'm trying to reinstall RCT2 on my desktop computer. For a while I had the game working then all of a sudden it stopped working, causing the computer to freeze and reboot itself. It was suggested I uninstall it and reinstall and since then I've been getting this error message: Component transfer error --------------------------------- Component: minimum File group: minimum File: D:\data2.cab Error: data error (cyclic redundancy check) It's been suggested that perhaps something in one of the Windows updates is interfering with something in the game. Can anyone help me out? I'd really like to get back to the park I was making.
  6. You know, I never was a real fan of SkyRider. Sure the novelty of it at first was nice but the more I rode it over time I started realizing it just gave me too many headaches. Stupid me I still rode it though. I have no idea what is being erected in its place. I went to the park a few weeks ago and the only advertising of a change to the park is an addition/expansion of the water park. It's also on the website. I do hope it's another coaster though... and please get rid of the Zamperla!
  7. Well that's three so far. Not bad. Still say we need at least three more - bare minimum.
  8. Great. Will hopefully get some more interest before I set it up. Anyone else interested? I'd say a minimum of six is required before I start it up.
  9. I was wondering if anyone was interested in joining an online (free) fantasy hockey league made up exclusively of TPR members for the upcoming 2014/15 NHL season. It would use the popular Yahoo! Fantasy Sports service and would essentially involve everyone drafting their teams via an online head-to-head live draft and then managing your teams during the season. No money or betting is involved. I figure each participant would name their team after their favourite park and ride (ex: Magic Mountain - Scream, Cedar Point - Raptor, Alton Towers - Air, etc) Looking for 12 people interested. If requested, I can provide a quick tutorial on how the league works in its details. Any interest?
  10. What you don't realize then is as I said above I'm trying to make this as real as I can, from the realism of the coasters to the design of the buildings to the staff only areas, and its hard to be realistic without a parking lot. Its not the most enjoyable part of parkmaking, but I wanted it to be there regardless.
  11. I actually have the thread from my previous attempt at the park on this same forum, but its been locked (its been years since an update). I probably have followers to that thread but I didn't get a response when I requested the thread unlocked so I'm starting anew.
  12. I completely agree about the looper. It kind of reminds me of Dragon Mountain at Marineland - isolated sections of excitement separated by lots of straightaway track. Spice it up a bit. I like how you integrated it within the scenery though.
  13. Well it's only been... like a few years or so since I lost my park in progress. Lately I found my old hard drive from my previous laptop and was reminded of the game I left behind and I just couldn't resist coming back. It's actually been like half a decade or so since I first started making my second ever custom park, but I'm a stubborn guy and by gosh, I'm giving it another go... So with that in mind, I've begun construction on Fox Studios World - a movie themed park based on the 20th Century Fox brand. The park will have the following themed areas: the as of yet unnamed midway, Star Wars Galaxy (with a sub-themed area Tatooine), Hollywood Boulevard, Marvel Studios, and two kids areas based on the Ice Age franchise and either the Simpsons cartoons or the Robots animated movie. I do intend the park to be as real as I can make it, so I'm trying to be detailed in the layout, thinking of the "extras" that you'd find in a park, and just overall trying to improve on my archy skills, especially compared to my first ever park, Six Flags Xtreme Canada. I've actually begun work on the park a few weeks ago, and I can only do bits at a time due to the other demands on my time, but I do have some updates to show you. The screenshots are hosted on my own personal RCT2 site, ThirstyDeer Online!, but you don't need to go there to view them, I've posted them here. Now onto the screenshots... OVERALL VIEW OF ROAD AND PARKING LOT You can see here I'm working on the park from the outside in. There is one main road outside the park grounds, with two separate entrances into the parking lot. One of the entrances also leads to the RV/bus parking area, the transit shelter area, and the staff entrance. In the middle of the road is the "kiss n'ride" area where you can safely pull off the road to drop off people. CLOSE-UP OF THE SOUTH ENTRANCE This is the entrance that gives access to the RV/bus area, transit shelter, and the staff entrance. First thing to say is ignore the brick walls you see on the road. They are there temporarily and they do serve a purpose. They will be deleted when I get a bit further into the park. The parking entrance has 8 lanes to pay for parking lot entry ($6 per car). If you look closely you can actually see green and red indicators on the booths to tell you if the lane is open or closed. The RV/bus entrance is a parking lot where those bigger vehicles have room to park. It includes some picnic tables for their lunches if they eat out of the park. In keeping with one of the park design guidelines, there is ample greenspace and trees. THE TRANSIT SHELTER The transit shelter is for scheduled regional transit buses to drop off and pick up people. There is ample benches and even some vending machines for the parched ones. As you can see it's basically a big roundabout. I wanted the look to be modern but somewhat simple. In this screenshot you can also see a long road that will lead to the back area of the park where staff go to park their vehicles and to access the staff buildings such as the offices, infirmary, powerplant, etc. VIEW FROM THE ROAD As you drive along the main strip going passing the park grounds, there are several movie billboards on a brick backing along the outer field of the parking lot. Each movie billboard represents an attraction in the park (whether it be a coaster, flat ride, or live theater show). Such titles you'll see include Die Hard, Predator, Avatar, Jumper, Behind Enemy Lines, and others. So that's it for now. I'm currently working on the section of the park entry ticket booth through the main gate. Comments welcome.
  14. I am assuming the despite this forum thread, when this bash is officially announced with the time and cost and all that it'll be emailed to us all?
  15. What is a typical cost for a trip like this? This is the first time I'm considering doing one of these trips.
  16. I am restarting a park I've been trying to get done for a while, and one of the things I've been trying so hard to do is make the layout 100% peep friendly - meaning that at no time when someone is playing the park that a cluster of peeps will get stuck on the paths. Unfortunately, that means I am severely limited in how I lay out the paths. It has to be done in such a way that as peeps want to either get to the park exit, or anywhere else in the park, that there has to be a direct way of getting there or they will get stuck. I tried to illustrate what I mean below: (the // means pathing) .........../////////////////////////////////////......../////////Location of peeps ...........///......................................///........///....................... Park exit///.......Peeps get stuck>>////////////.................... I've downloaded many parks in my time. None of the ones I've seen are 100% peep friendly. So what I wanted to know is: as someone who would download my park to play it, how important is it to you that the layout be completely peep friendly so you'd rarely (or never) encounter a part of the park where peeps get stuck, and thus be forced to fix it? Or do you not really care at all (which allows the park maker use pretty much any layout as they see fit)?
  17. Personally speaking I think it'd be park news if Sledge Hammer WASN'T closed...
  18. Personally, I'm just glad that an investment of this magnitude is being made in the park at all (same thoughts when Behemoth was announced), and it is well deserved. The average attendance at Wonderland is among the best in North America and is even better then Cedar Point (according to Wikipedia). Before Behemoth, pretty much every new coaster brought into the park was a small sized clone (Tomb Raider, Top Gun, Sky Rider, Vortex, The Fly, The Bat). Funny thing is that before Behemoth was made, a popular belief as to why large coasters were never allowed into the park was because of the park's close-ish proximity to the airport. The announcing of Behemoth represented a crushing of rumours, and showed that Cedar Fairs was truly willing to invest in the park and make it 'bigger and better' after the first two operators (Kings and Paramount) stuck with the more generic options (although Paramount did invest wisely in flat rides). Leviathan, takes this symbol of investment significantly further. It can be argued all you want about whether or not it is just a bigger Behemoth, but if you look at the off-ride view of the ride video, you'll see that very few rides in the park come near that height or length - and that is what is making people go nuts when they hear of this coaster.
  19. I'm starting my selection of objects for my next park but I don't want any expansion pack requirements for it. I'm trying to uninstall the expansion packs but I get bizarre error messages as I try to do so. When I try to uninstall Wacky Worlds, I get a message something like "an installation support file 'C:\AppData\Local\Temp\{B1AD83A0-41E3-B111-E9472349768C}\CommonDLG.bmp' could not be installed. The system file cannot find the file specified." This shuts down the uninstall process and I can't get past this. When I try to uninstall Time Twister, I get a message saying "An error (-5006 : 0x80070002) has occurred while running the setup. Ple ase make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Atari, Inc.." It doesn't matter which expansion pack I try to delete first. The messages are constant. I also tried the third party uninstaller Revouninstaller. I also sent a ticket in to Atari but there's been no help from them, and I've waited weeks. Alas, I can't get rid of these expansion packs now. I run Vista Windows but I've uninstalled these expansion packs before without issue. Help please?
  20. Not bad, particularly considering you're using no custom objects at all - at least not from what I've seen.
  21. Just a quick announcement that the park has been lost due to an unforeseen computer problem. Unfortunately, the backup file isn't working either. I am going to start over again so you'll be hearing from me down the road again. It is a mixed blessing as parts of me wanted to start over again anyway - guess I got the push I needed.
  22. Are you forgetting about Marineland? Marineland isn't exactly the same type of park as Wonderland... one rollercoaster and only a handful of flat rides. On the plus side the lineups are really short and you can easily make the rounds in less then a day.
  23. From looking at the video and the photos on the Wonderland website, it looks like the ride will be located somewhere around the back of the mountain, perhaps between Jet Scream and Vortex. I must say, I feel slightly disappointed when looking at this ride. Beyond the height factor, it just looks like a large swing. Seems pretty tame to me. Although I'll be the first to admit that you "don't knock it till you try it" and I'll certainly do that next year. It's probably the video just not doing the ride any justice. Nice that it has such a large ride capacity (64 people at a time).
