  1. I spoke with one individual from this thread about going but our schedules haven't been very compatible. I'm sure we'll go but a lot of my August is tied up with work and family plans. I also went by myself a few weeks ago (for the first time) and I didn't realize I'd actually enjoy going solo - would still be nice to go with someone else. Interested?
  2. I see some nice work in the screenshots thus far, but one thing that kind of sticks out as an eye sore for me is the way trees are used, specifically using one tree type to cover an entire section. May I suggest adding some variation in there. Also, I like going by the phrase "God doesn't build in straight lines" so perhaps instead of lining up trees in perfect lines across a long stretch, shuffle things up a bit. I'm a big fan of your backstory/history of the park. Well done.
  3. I gotta say, last week was the first time I ever went to the park on my own (my two friends ditched me at last moment) and I don't think I ever had a better time. I went on the Wednesday ( hottest day of the year) and didn't wait in any single line for more then a few minutes, including Behemoth. The line for Leviathan only took about 10 minutes or so. I got there for 10am and left at 2:30pm because I went on all the thrill rides I wanted to go on (except Sledgehammer because surprise surprise it was down for the day). Probably helped the water park was pretty full, but still.
  4. I was wondering if anyone is going to the park tomorrow (Wednesday, July 13) and is interested in meeting up. I was going with two friends but they are probably backing out because the 30-40% of rain. Personally that doesn't stop me from going but it's not as much fun if I'm alone. I can meet you at the park, or if you're somewhere near the Milton area we can maybe carpool (I have a season's parking pass). Let me know if you're interested.
  5. I'm looking for someone to go with to the park over the next few weeks... any idea on how I can connect with likeminded individuals? I want to get some good use out of my season's pass (with parking included).
  6. I just watched that throwback Vortex commercial, and I found something rather irksome in it. It's the same thing that has annoyed me about Canada's Wonderland commercials for years: that most of the coasters featured in them aren't at the park. Maybe it's in the fine print or something but if I see these coasters featured in the commercial then go to the park to experience them, only to realize it was false advertising, I'd be pretty annoyed.
  7. You should be fine parking at the mall.... so many of the cars are there from 11am to 6pm anyway (employees and customers alike). I know of some people that park off of Norwood Avenue (across from the drop-off lane) on the street and come out every few hours to move the vehicle a block away or so. Another poster said that they spoke with a parking officer there and they even said that works. I think parking at the mall is a safe bet though.
  8. My friend and I just went last weekend. MINEBUSTER NEEDS TO BE RMCd There is about 1 noticeable airtime hill right after the drop, other than that the ride is uneventful. Wild beast is better than it in every way. an RMC could also interact with the water park like minebuster does as well. Imagine a RMC zero g stall going over one of the other water slides, that would be awesome. And here I thought I was the only one with the opinion that Wildabeaste (I'll never call it Wild Beast) is better then Minebuster, even though that track is often regarded as one of the worst out there. Random question... what does "RMC" stand for?
  9. This is a really nice park and when I get home tonight I will download it and enjoy your creation. Thanks!
  10. You can always just set up posts and then it'll be more of a banner with supports as opposed to a flag. Or if you don't really care for realism then don't worry about it.
  11. Wow... I remember back in the day when you could get coupons from McDonalds... back when $4 off meant quite a savings off the park admission price!
  12. I seriously need to find a group of people to go to the park with... my wife gets motion sick just driving on the highway, ergo my efforts to get her on a coaster have not borne fruit, and I got my hands on a season's pass for cheap this season and I want to take advantage of it. Any ideas of where I can fine like-minded folk?
  13. Do Wonder Mountain Guardian first, then do The Bat, then do The Fly, then Thunder Run. Neither of those rides have fast lane access, and Guardian and Fly have particularly low ridership numbers.
  14. Wow. This looks like a great park. Never seen one quite like it. When do you think it will be finished?
  15. Hey man, I know how you feel. I've been working on a park for years and twice I lost it to corrupt files, bad hard drives, etc. I've learned my lesson though, I backup my park files often. Lots of ways to do this... Google Drive, Dropbox, the cloud, email the files to yourself every now and then. Hopefully you'll get back to it. I'm too stubborn to not finish my park but as you said, life gets busy and it takes a while to get these 'pet projects' done.
  16. You should widen your paths... particularly your arterial ones. One tile wide paths will only create quick complaints of "this park is too crowded" and lower your rating.
  17. A good start. Looks nice. If I may make a suggestion. In terms of your architecture, try to make the buildings less "boxy" and generic. I don't know if you have the use of custom objects but add some variety, colour, and different shapes to the different structures you have (restaurants, ride stations, etc) It'll make a huge difference in your park.
  18. I would have to say that Wild Beast is more horrendous than Mighty Canadian Minebuster. But yes, Flight Deck and time Warp are not enjoyable. You know, I actually rather like Flight Deck. I know it's just another Vekoma SLC, but I like the different elements of it and I like how it's "confined" to a small landscape. I also like Backlot Stunt Coaster. It's nothing grand but its fun.
  19. Yeah that was not intelligent on my part. I didn't use much in the way of TT objects so I wonder if I went back into the park and took those objects out then the park could be opened with RCT vanilla...
  20. Haven't you had anything better to do the past few years? All kidding aside thanks for the support. I work on it in bits and pieces because I just don't have much in the way of free time, and I wanted to wait till I have more screenshots to show before I post an actual update.
  21. Well it's only been... over a year... since I last touched the game, but I am now back into it. I'd say I am about 20% done. Before I post updates I am actually seeking some opinions on some thoughts I have. I'd certainly appreciate your thoughts on these questions... 1. How important is it to you for the park to be 100% peep friendly? If you don't know what I'm talking about I'm referring to the peeps' ability to get from anywhere in the park to the exit. Their ability to get to the exit requires a somewhat 'direct' route. If they are northeast of the exit and the path they need to take requires the peep to go more northeast (say to get around some landscaping or a large object) they will likely get stuck, causing them to wander back and forth in a line dragging your park rating down. 2. Do you think it is redundant to have both an Intamin reverse freefall coaster (a la Superman Escape From Krypton at Magic Mountain) *and* an Intamin accelerator coaster (a la Top Thrill Dragster from Cedar Point or Kingda Ka from Great Adventure)? I'm thinking of using both types (in different sections of the park) but nto sure if that would ever actually happen in a real park. 3. I am designing a coaster to simulate the Star Wars Death Star trench run. If I design it well it will be a low level coaster with twists and turns and little in the way of big hills or inversions (maybe some barrel rolls). What do you think would be the best coaster type to use? At first I thought an inverted coaster, but am now considering a flying coaster or a wing coaster. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
  22. Yeah, I know. She wants to see the whole Hallowe'en theming...
  23. I'm taking a friend who is visiting from Germany and she wants to go during Hallowe'en Haunt even though we won't be doing any of the Hallowe'en events. We're going on Oct 16. If we get a fast pass do you think there is enough time to go on all the coasters and thrill rides in the five hours the park is open? We'd do Guardian and the Bat first because of their queue system.
  24. Forgive the stupidity of my question, but even if one went to Wonderland a Friday night during the Hallowe'en Haunt they can still just do the rides like any other day, right? PS, I know that the bumper cars are out of service though... grr.
