  1. Oh, I was there on Saturday too, and Ghost Ship is back open!....sort of. It's only like a third of the layout, and still the same ticket cost it used to be (I think), but it's open and had maybe 10 actors in it. Staff said it wouldn't be back open in full until next summer. That, plus a lap on Great White, and a fun ride on Zoom Phloom (I was there with friends as opposed to solo, which is rare, so I wasn't about to pass that up), were my only non-waterpark rides. Also of note, the Musik Express got a new color scheme and light package that honestly does not look good. I started the trip with like 125 tickets on a card that I've been milking for years, and still have 80-ish left.
  2. Honestly I don't use crowd estimators to plan trips, but I find queue-times.com to be pretty accurate for tracking both real-time and historical queue lengths, at least for CF parks. They pull data from the parks' apps, so as good as the data going in is, is as good as you're going to see.
  3. Is this really a water ride though? Looking at the videos on Intamin's site, it looks like it runs through an empty trough within the water pool, and coordinated jets (that the site says are optional) shoot across the car as it passes through. It doesn't look like the car actually interacts with the water directly at all. Even if it had scoops (like Diamondback, Griffon, etc.), would that make it a "water ride?" Are those considered "water rides?"
  4. You and me both. Besides, even if the ride is stellar, I still have zero confidence in their ability to make a seat/restraint that even approaches "comfortable."
  5. Solid addition, no complaints (Okay, one: It's not Laser.)
  6. Who ever said there was a problem? This park (and owner) has never struck me as the type to really care about ride opening dates, more of a "it'll be ready when its ready" type, like Knoebel's.
  7. And Hulk doesn't use LIMs or LSMs for it's launch, so is not relevant to this discussion.
  8. Amen. (Also, INB4 everyone comes to tell you how "RMC had nothing to do with LR's launch mechanism!!!!11!!!)
  9. @anonymouscactus At least it's on Fast Lane at all. With Tiki Twirl, sorry Tumbili at KD, and Wild Mouse at CP, they originally weren't on FL. Wild Mouse still isn't. On a side note, is it just me or did the "Platinum Pass" (all CF parks) effectively drop in price by like $80? A Gold Pass at CP is $99 and the All-Park-Passport is $100. I'm also pleased to see that they're still offering "all park" versions of the dining plan, all-season FL, and presumably the drink plan.
  10. Now that the announcement is truly official by being formally posted on TPR, here are my thoughts: The Good -The ride wasn't torn down entirely. -Still just as fast, and I'm sure CP's maintenance team will keep it running better and smoother than Kingda Ka so the 8mph won't matter. -The improved shade in the queue; this one is huge. -Looking down from nearly 420 feet in the air will be impressive. This might make it a back-seat ride for me, since the launch is so neutered. -This will be a huge draw, if people can differentiate it from TTD and "the incident." -It will still be a super-fun ride. The Meh (Personal Gripes, not to be taken too seriously) -Swing launches do nothing for me. Give me a powerful single-shot launch any day of the week. I will sorely miss the intensity of that launch, which has been the most powerful that I've ever experienced (no, I have not ridden an air-launch coaster). -Seriously, they couldn't somehow make it go 130mph and retake the record for "Fastest Coaster in the Western Hemisphere"? That would be a much more impressive record than "tallest and fastest triple-launch-coaster." Some brakes on top of the top hat to stop the train from flying over. -They ripped out the flat track after the top hat just to replace it with another section of flat track (yeah, I know they needed to adapt to a different braking system), instead of adding an airtime hill or any other element? If you're going to be improving the ride, improve it. The Bad -Zamperla. I have zero confidence in this manufacturer of kiddie and family coasters and flat rides to handle a project of this scale. -Zamperla's seats/restraints. I have never ridden a single ride manufactured by them that has been anywhere near comfortable. I am extremely skeptical of their ability to even come close to the perfection that is the Intamin T-Bar restraint. The Ugly -The name. When I saw the leak, I was like "There is no way under the sun that CP is going to name this thing 'Top Thrill 2'." Like, I know Cedar Fair hasn't been the most creative with names, but seriously? This is so absolutely disappointing. They might as well have painted it brown and called it "Timber Hawk." I figured they'd go with something completely different to distract people who still have "the incident" fresh in the minds.
  11. So, the announcement video has been posted to CP's Facebook page (not reposting it here out of respect for the Alveys/other moderators to do their normal full announcement post). Comments reserved until that time.
  12. On the day that has been publicized as the announcement day? Yeah, I expect an announcement. What silliness is going on in your head LOL.
  13. Here's a better link that doesn't send traffic to a "news" organization dead set on establishing a theocracy in the US: https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/28/us/carowinds-north-carolina-roller-coaster-crack/index.html
  14. @Swedeontour It will be busy. I was there the first weekend of Halloweekends in 2021 and it was slammed. Here is the chart of what rides are included on regular Fast Lane vs. Fast Lane Plus: https://www.cedarpoint.com/fast-lane-passes (Scroll down past the "Buy me!" options) You want Plus, since the rides that it adds are the ones that typically get the longest lines. Not sure what experience you might have with skip-the-line passes, but know that at Cedar Point it will not get you past all of the line on some rides. For example, Steel Vengeance - If the standby queue is 3 hours, you'll probably have a 30-45 minute wait with Fast Lane Plus due to where the point that the two lines merge is. That said, it is absolutely worth it. If you have any interest in doing the Halloween walk-throughs, you also will want a Fright Lane pass, which skips the lines on those. That is, much like the general park tickets for the days you're looking to go, not yet available. Since you're coming from overseas, I will break with my normal hotel recommendation and say that you should absolutely stay at Hotel Breakers if at all financially possible. You can arrange package deals which include park tickets, and being a CP Resort Guest also gives you 1-hour early entry before the general public (but with some passholders). Here's the link to book a room: https://reservations.cedarpoint.com/cedarpoint/?hotelcode=HB&_gl=1*1o7bc2o*_ga*MzUzOTUzODYwLjE2NDIzNTM0OTE.*_ga_8CNN6657FV*MTY5MDYyNTI1NC45LjEuMTY5MDYyNTYyMi41OS4wLjA. I know in your original post you said that you were planning on going only on Saturday, 9/16, but I highly recommend adding a second day. Even with Fast Lane Plus, with only one day you will be running across the park to try to get all of the coasters and some flats in. If it rains that day, your entire trip is a wash (CP does not have a very friendly rain policy).
  15. It would appear that is the case; no one can buy Halloweekends tickets yet.
  16. The loop was literally cut into scrap metal. I don't see how you can continue to call whatever Montezooma is "reimagined" as a Schwarzkopf when you say Phantom's Revenge isn't an Arrow. You need some consistency LOL.
  17. I mean, if you want to be technical, it already was a scrapped Schwarzkopf. When they destroyed the loop, removed the launch mechanism, and stated they had no plans to reuse the trains...I wouldn't consider a few pieces of track remaining as justification to call it a Schwarzkopf anymore. Does anyone still call Phantom's Revenge an Arrow coaster because the lift and station didn't have their track changed?
  18. I mean, it is an in-house designed coaster being built by a truly independent amusement park. Did anyone (who wasn't a flaming moron) give Knoebel's any crap for Flying Turns taking 6 years?
  19. When you push the envelope, sometimes it gets broken. Enjoy your uninspired B&Ms.
  20. Not trying to be argumentative, but is there any practical difference between these virtual queue things and the existing Flash Pass? One you just reserve way in advance. You're still skipping the standby line.
  21. A $25 one time payment that give you two skip-the-lines per visit for the rest of the season? More Selim genius at work. Did SFFT not sell the single-use skip-the-lines that other SF (and now CF ugh) parks did? All-season Platinum FP at SSFT is $430, so this "introductory offer" has to be like 75% off the "normal" price at least.
  22. Not really sure how something that isn't even available to buy yet is causing confusion, but sure...okay.
  23. I'm fairly confident that they're not going to let the existence of another F1 themed coaster, on the other side of the ocean, that 90% of the CP-going populace hasn't heard of, that 99.9% of that same populace hasn't ridden, affect their theming decision in any way.
  24. $100 at KD and $95 at Dorney, too. Looks like if I buy a CF pass next year it'll be through Dorney; their Gold prices have always been lower than other parks too.
  25. @CaptainUnknown Even if you "like rerides," and rode every single adult-rideable flat ride, I do not realistically see any way you could spend open to close at this park. I highly recommend packing a swimsuit and towel and checking out the water park; it is pretty big and a bunch of their original attractions (build in the 80s) are a lot more intense than modern equivalents. Sadly they've taken out their "pool-to-pool" water slide, which IMHO was the best part of the park. Yes, Wild Mouse first. For hangtime on Hydra, you want the front row....the train will be traveling the slowest through it there. No coasters in this park really have enough natural darkness to provide a good night ride. Maybe Hydra? Some other recommendations: -Their Whip is over 100 years old, so you've got some historic value there. It doesn't run very fast, though. -Don't skip the Zephyr train ride, it's a classic. Other train, near the big slash-boat ride, can be easily ignored. -They do still have a functional Enterprise, but it's kinda hidden. -Do NOT skip the log flume; it is in my top 5 favorite rides at the park, and is uniquely cut into the side of the hill.
