  1. Um...you know KD already has a giga, right? And yeah, I'd trade operating seasons this year between KD and KI in a heartbeat. KI got four months; KD got 3 weekends.
  2. It was in fact open during last year's Winterfest, but not the year before that. Either way, glad the park is able to open at all in 2020. I'll be trying to make a trip down on the 12th.
  3. Agreed, but if you've not been there this year, it is nowhere near the normal environment. Even if MD is lacking in its COVID rules, they still managed to sop the fun out of that place.
  4. Cue 100 pages of wild speculation about this conversion only for them to only replace 20 feet of track because Darien Lake.
  5. My Miata with its intended wheels, before they were stolen.
  6. And here's some pictures from the last operating day of the year, including some not-frequently-seen shots of Diamondback and Mystic taken from the train ride.
  7. My money, in all seriousness, is on Tiki Twirl. CF already has a logo drawn up and everything.
  8. If it makes you feel better, the B&Ms at Kings Island closed mid-day due to temperature and didn't reopen. Beast was posting a 3 hour wait on the app.
  9. Back from Day 2 at KI to round out the season. Two more rides on Beast (including the mandatory front-row night ride) and Mystic, and one more ride on Orion, the Bat, Diamondback, Banshee, Woodstock Express, the train, and Boo Blasters. Fun Fact: I left the park around 1 and came back around 4:45, and all of the B&Ms were closed for the day due to temperature, which was at 39 degrees when I came back. Amusingly enough the Beast was posting a 3 hour wait on the app at 5:00. Asked the ride op at Great Pumpkin if a kid-less adult could get a ride at the very end of the night, but no dice. Oh well. Total ride counts for the weekend: Beast: 4 (all front) Mystic: 4 (2 front, 1 row 8, 1 back) Banshee: 3 (2 back, 1 front) Orion: 3 (2 front, 1 back) Diamondback: 2 (1 front, 1 back) Bat: 2 (1 row 3, 1 back) Racer Red: 1 (row 5) Racer Blue: 1 (row 11) Adventure Express: 1 (front) Flight of Fear: 1 (front) Woodstock Express: 1 (back) Windseeker: 1 Drop Tower: 1 Troika: 1 Train: 1 Boo Blasters: 1 Tom + Chee: 4 I could've definitely gotten more rides in, but was taking it easy to close out the year. See you in 2021, KI.
  10. Just spent the first day of two at KI. Surprisingly not crazy busy. I guess the temps had something to do with it (didn't break 55) and will hopefully help tomorrow too (not expected to get much above 40 all day tomorrow). That said, Fast Lane definitely made the experience more bearable - waits between walk on to 15 minutes for all rides, while major coasters were posting 45-60 minute waits on the app. Got two rides each on Beast (would've been 3 if not for a breakdown), Mystic, Banshee, and Orion, and one ride each on Bat, each side of Racer, Adventure Express, Diamondback, Flight of Fear, Windseeker, Drop Tower, and their Troika, with plenty of down time to eat, shop, and take smoke breaks. Swung by Target after the park to pick up some thermals for the cold, cold day tomorrow. More to come.
  11. LOL seriously? That list means nothing...even NJ's COVID numbers qualify it for its own "travel advisory" list now. There are no teeth behind it, either. Delaware's presence on that list didn't stop me, or any of the other attendees with license plates from "banned states" I saw in the lot, last weekend. I'm all for compliance with reasonable measures regarding COVID, but the notion that just because you're from state X means your a danger is elitist idiocy at its finest, especially now that NJ and NY meet that threshold but residents are are still "allowed" to travel between each other.
  12. I was under the impression that Superloops were somewhat problematic, thus the short lived stint of SFGAdv's.
  13. My money is on the Superloops getting the ax. I also don't think it bodes well for some of the classic woodies in the chain like Little Dipper at SFGAm and Thunderbolt at SFNE.
  14. LOL. From the chain that just this month began offering $60 season passes valid at all parks.
  15. For the record, I was out of there well before the Fright Fest/Hallowfest times, and did not observe any actual pot smoking....just signs about it.
  16. Yeah, it was in the low 50s, and figured that had something to do with it.
  17. Oh, one other note as a positive toward the park that most people will see as a negative: -While Cedar Fair parks went to the extent of removing all in-park smoking zones in exchange for one outside the main gate, SFGAdv seems to have added more.
  18. Stopped by the park today to activate my season pass and get some rides in. A couple of bullet points: -I arrived at around 1:15 with a 1:00 opening. Parking lot was about 1/10th full. -Mask compliance was good from what I saw. Social distancing in non-Flash Pass lines was non-existent. In the Flash Pass queues, adequate distance was being left. -Grouping at every coaster, with a denied front row request at Kingda Ka and second-to-last-row request at El Toro. Accepted back-row requests on Skull Mountain, Nitro, and Batman. -When I left at around 4:00, the parking lot was about 60% full, and estimated queue times were as follows: Batman: 1 hour Nitro: 1.5 hours Skull Mountain: 2 hours Joker: 1 hour Justice League: 2 hours Mine Train: 30 minutes (These were gleaned by doubling the Gold Flash Pass return time indicated on the watch. The app was wildly inaccurate all day.) -With Gold Flash pass, I was able to do the following, in this order: Kingda Ka, 20 minutes for row 6 from locker-in to locker-out, right at opening. Actual queue was a walk-on. El Toro, 18 minutes for row 5 from locker-to-locker. Actual queue was a walk-on. Bizzaro, walk-on for front row. The misters and fire effects were working. Mine Train, one-train wait, front row. Superman, 13 minutes on-and-off for row 7. Skull Mountain, 8 minutes on-and-off for back row. Nitro, 15 minute standby on-and-off, after 15 minute return wait, back row. Batman, 13 minute standby on-and-off, after 15 minute return wait, back row. -Notably, Green Lantern and Cyborg were closed and displayed no signs of opening. -Plenty of people commenting on the incomplete status of Jersey Devil and the complete lack of any activity at the site. -Security was going extra hard on cameras-out enforcement on Nitro, to the point where the ride op was mentioning it every time and it seemed like every other train they stopped it on the lift and walked up to yell at people. -At several points, my Flash Pass watch was not responding to swipes. A few minutes of "cool down" I guess and it worked again each time. I prefer the old ones with buttons, and I still greatly prefer CF's Fast Lane program over this. -Kingda Ka has somehow gotten even rougher than it was during my 2017 visit, to the point of instilling a headache. How SF let this ride deteriorate boggles my mind. -Largely the same experience on El Toro, a lot rougher than it was. Don't know if it was just being cold of if my memory was incorrect, but it also seemed to crawl through the course compared to what I remember. You've dropped out of my Top 5 Wood, sorry. -Holy shit are there a lot more alcohol-serving establishments than there were. I swear I could see one no matter where I stood in the park. -Just as many signs advising against "disorderly behavior and consumption of marijuana" as there were advising of the COVID protocols. Never change, Great Adventure and the shitbag crowds you attract. Anyway, here a picture of the Jersey Devil construction site and one of the queue of Batman shortly before 4:00 PM. Anyway, that's all from this park. Next trip will be Kings Island next weekend.
  19. The point was that under Newsome's guidelines, that's how every state would qualify - not saying what each state is actually doing.
  20. Not trying to get into a debate here, but how is working and earning a living not a constitutional right? Second paragraph man.
  21. Just to further prove how agenda-driven Gov. Newsome and his people are, here you go: Californians will be allowed to congregate and vote without masks. I guess the pursuit of happiness (i.e. putting food on your table) isn't a "foundational constitutional right" in their mind?
  22. More Bayern Kurves are always good. My first (and only) was the one at SFGAdv back when I was a little kid, since Kennywood's was down during my 2017 visit.. I *think* the one from SFGAdv was the one that went to Riverside but I can't be sure.
  23. So, basically no change from before, since all California's major parks are in Moderate (or worse) coded areas, right? Anything further I could say would be construed as a political comment and thus is reserved.
