  1. If we don't get into the top 10, can they re list it for next time... or is this just a one-time deal?
  2. Wow... who built the new trains for Laser?
  3. I used to always play the balloon pop game. I still have a Square mirror prize with a 1970's Trans Am silk-screened on it
  4. I've been trying to at least vote once a day. I like those construction pictures... nice to see work is being done.
  5. After looking at those Corkscrew rider numbers (ending in 2001) I have to ask... Has the fact that Dragster is located next to it now done anything to increase ridership?
  6. I think Rob is right... things are looking bleak with the "amusement" park. Ed Hart knows what he's doing. He made Kentucky Kingdom the "Thrill Park"... The park had a lot of success as both a theme and water park, but that was a different time, so he'll have to watch what the competitors are up to... Beech Bend, Holiday World and Kings Island all continue to build wet and dry rides. When Hart took over the park, the park was only the front section and that eventually expanded into the back which caused the bridge to be built. The road that cuts through is such a hassle and the bridge has a bad traffic flow it doesn't surprise me that they want to move the entrance. You never know, perhaps the State Fair will look into operating only the small park during Fair Season. It has a great infrastructure. But again, I think Rob is onto something.
  7. There is still a market for flat rides, it's just now in the days of building "bigger bigger bigger" parks think they need a massive ride like a 300 foot Starflyer or a giant Frisbee. (which come with $8 Million Price tags) With the right marketing, you can easily build a Top Spin or Disk-o. Many small parks and even some Large parks have been successful with that Or, you do what Dollywood and Silver Dollar City did and build a new area with about 5-7 flats around a theme.
  8. So Which Six Flags doesn't have a mouse/Dark Knight Mouse... SFStL SFMM SFA SFDK SFNE (I think they still have the pad poured even after not getting a Dark Knight) Great Escape SFoG La Ronde
  9. I'm not sure how Road Runner was anchored, but that big concrete space below it could fit almost anything compact. El Loco, anyone?
  10. I haven't been on it yet, but Predator now runs articulated trains as opposed to the trailered trains from last year and beyond. That should have fixed the problem. Mean Steak might get it, but I'm hoping that Son of Beast is too far gone and will get removed. Maybe the Hurlers. I'll agree with you on Ghostrider and even go as far as Rattler or even HellCat... I hear that's a rough one, but I doubt that park can afford a multi-million Dollar makeover. Problem with many of the CCI rides was that they were built to be very intense, but were also meant to be thoroughly maintained which just didn't happen. The Myrtle Beach Hurricane was awful due to that. The Beast can stay the way God Intended it.
  11. Stealth's removal didn't bother me because they built that massive waterpark there. Tidal Wave on the other hand.. that was sad. I don't know what will happen with Great America, but waiting in limbo for Cedar Fair to either invest again or shut it down is getting tiresome... and I'm not even a local!
  12. My thoughts for 2011... Chaos gets removed for a Top Spin with Water effects called "Rip Tide" (Hence the updated water and sewer lines) They did say a new "Thrill Ride" was coming.
  13. I'm hearing it, too. Not sure if it's for health reasons or not... rumors are flying everywhere.
  14. The "Monster" or "spider" you mention is actually an Eyerly Octopus. It has 8 straight sweeps and 8 tubs, though some (like the one at Lakemont) have 16 tubs on 8 sweeps.
  15. Personally, I think it's time for CP to start looking at what rides are really straining their budget and begin to replace them and change around operations a little. One idea is to do what Busche Gardens does, and that's open certain areas of the park later at different times of the year. Sort of how they do Friday nights a Halloweekends, part of the back end remains closed, so they could have the Maverick area and train open one hour later - Chaos has been up for sale and it's actually been non-operational for part of the year, so lets hack that one and replace it with a Top Spin. - Demon Drop is already gone so that space is open. - Are the kiddie bumper boats and frog hopper still needed? They have the Kite Eating Tree now and the zero depth fountain up front. That's two less rides, two less operators. Maybe add a new family game there. - Could the Turnpike be replaced with Electric Cars to save gas? What would the cost-savings be? - Mean Streak.. Obviously this ride is huge, rough, and not a crowd-pleaser anymore. I guess we'll have to see how Texas Giant turns out, but is this ride worth a $10 Million Makeover? I'd love a Lightning Racer in its place... 4 trains... one operator. Split up the site and even fit that B&M Dive Machine - Frontier Path could use a nice outdoor grill Just some ideas to make progress without taking very many backwards steps.
  16. I was shocked to see the Disk-O not running... it was like the first ride up.
  17. Great News! I wonder if it's possible to get the place up and running by July 4th if at all 2010.
  18. Six Flags got in trouble in the past for removing rides out of SFNO. Perhaps theres something going on there we don't know about. Yes, I'm reaching.
  19. ^ Yep, It feels like Geauga Lake. Not to change the subject, but I really wonder if any operators contacted Cedar Fair about buying it. Anyway... back on topic... Prior to its destruction, the Save Whalom Park effort began selling "Whales" (tickets) for $100 each. I bought one in hopes the park could be reopened, but after nearly two years of failed efforts, they sent me a refund.
  20. How could he have ridden the coaster three days before it was torn down? The Lift Motor had been sold and power was cut to the park. This park wasn't making money. Maybe it could have been saved then, but I doubt it. Maybe we'll see a mini version of it like "Pier Park" in Panama City Florida.
  21. Nah... you didn't sound all that critical, there are several members (as well as young, influenced ones) that have "Cedar Fair Hate" for many of the wrong reasons, though.
  22. Cedar Point never really "wakes up" until about Coastermania time. It's a big park, and it still looks great.
  23. Many Chance rides are doing this now.. Zippers, Wipeouts, SkyDivers, Trabants... If the ride has a shared lap bar with no seat divider and no individual mechanism, you'll most likely see this rule. Sad, considering that many of these rides (but not all) have operated safely for 20 or 30 years.
  24. It's no secret here that the whole Geauga Lake closure completely broke my heart. But it is what it is. I am glad however, is that Cedar Fair do continue to improve this little park and make it better. I hope they keep it up.
